We study an s-channel resonance R as a viable candidate to fit the diboson excess reported by ATLAS. We compute the contribution of the similar to 2 TeV resonance R to semileptonic and leptonic final states at the 13 TeV LHC. To explain the absence of an excess in the semileptonic channel, we explore the possibility where the particle R decays to additional light scalars X, X or X, Y. A modified analysis strategy has been proposed to study the three-particle final state of the resonance decay and to identify decay channels of X. Associated production of R with gauge bosons has been studied in detail to identify the production mechanism of R. We construct comprehensive categories for vector and scalar beyond-standard-model particles which may play the role of particles R, X, Y and find alternate channels to fix the new couplings and search for these particles.

The alarmone (p)ppGpp regulates transcription, translation, replication, virulence, lipid synthesis, antibiotic sensitivity, biofilm formation, and other functions in bacteria. Signaling nucleotide cyclic di-GMP (c-di-GMP) regulates biofilm formation, motility, virulence, the cell cycle, and other functions. In Mycobacterium smegmatis, both (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP are synthesized and degraded by bifunctional proteins Rel(Msm) and DcpA, encoded by rel(Msm) and dcpA genes, respectively. We have previously shown that the Delta rel(Msm) and Delta dcpA knockout strains are antibiotic resistant and defective in biofilm formation, show altered cell surface properties, and have reduced levels of glycopeptidolipids and polar lipids in their cell wall (K. R. Gupta, S. Kasetty, and D. Chatterji, Appl Environ Microbiol 81:2571-2578, 2015, http://dx.doi.org/10.1128/AEM.03999-14). In this work, we have explored the phenotypes that are affected by both (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP in mycobacteria. We have shown that both (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP are needed to maintain the proper growth rate under stress conditions such as carbon deprivation and cold shock. Scanning electron microscopy showed that low levels of these second messengers result in elongated cells, while high levels reduce the cell length and embed the cells in a biofilm-like matrix. Fluorescence microscopy revealed that the elongated Delta rel(Msm) and Delta dcpA cells are multinucleate, while transmission electron microscopy showed that the elongated cells are multiseptate. Gene expression analysis also showed that genes belonging to functional categories such as virulence, detoxification, lipid metabolism, and cell-wall-related processes were differentially expressed. Our results suggests that both (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP affect some common phenotypes in M. smegmatis, thus raising a possibility of cross talk between these two second messengers in mycobacteria. IMPORTANCE Our work has expanded the horizon of (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP signaling in Gram-positive bacteria. We have come across a novel observation that M. smegmatis needs (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP for cold tolerance. We had previously shown that the Delta rel(Msm) and Delta dcpA strains are defective in biofilm formation. In this work, the overproduction of (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP encased M. smegmatis in a biofilm-like matrix, which shows that both (p) ppGpp and c-di-GMP are needed for biofilm formation. The regulation of cell length and cell division by (p) ppGpp was known in mycobacteria, but our work shows that c-di-GMP also affects the cell size and cell division in mycobacteria. This is perhaps the first report of c-di-GMP regulating cell division in mycobacteria.

This paper establishes the design requirements for the development and testing of direct supercritical carbon dioxide (sCO2) solar receivers. Current design considerations are based on the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code (BPVC). Section I (BPVC) considers typical boilers/superheaters (i.e. fired pressure vessels) which work under a constant low heat flux. Section VIII (BPVC) considers pressure vessels with operating pressures above 15 psig 2 bar] (i.e. unfired pressure vessels). Section III, Division I - Subsection NH (BPVC) considers a more detailed stress calculation, compared to Section I and Section VIII, and requires a creep-fatigue analysis. The main drawback from using the BPVC exclusively is the large safety requirements developed for nuclear power applications. As a result, a new set of requirements is needed to perform detailed thermal-structural analyses of solar thermal receivers subjected to a spatially-varying, high-intensity heat flux. The last design requirements document of this kind was an interim Sandia report developed in 1979 (SAND79-8183), but it only addresses some of the technical challenges in early-stage steam and molten-salt solar receivers but not the use of sCO2 receivers. This paper presents a combination of the ASME BPVC and ASME B31.1 Code modified appropriately to achieve the reliability requirements in sCO(2) solar power systems. There are five main categories in this requirements document: Operation and Safety, Materials and Manufacturing, Instrumentation, Maintenance and Environmental, and General requirements. This paper also includes the modeling guidelines and input parameters required in computational fluid dynamics and structural analyses utilizing ANSYS Fluent, ANSYS Mechanical, and nCode Design Life. The main purpose of this document is to serve as a reference and guideline for design and testing requirements, as well as to address the technical challenges and provide initial parameters for the computational models that will be employed for the development of sCO(2) receivers.

Resumen: En este artculo se explica cmo a partir del mtodo trascendental de Lonergan surge una comprensin de la tica cmo tica existencial, la cual nos invita a dejar a un lado las categoras metafsicas-abstractas y reflexionar ticamente usando categoras que surjan de los actos de nuestra conciencia. La conciencia moral se presenta distintiva en cuanto a la decisin, inclusiva en cuanto que integra los niveles del entender y del juzgar y elevada en cuanto que est abierta a la posibilidad de una integracin superior, puesto que la nocin trascendental de valor puede ser enriquecida intrnsecamente con la experiencia religiosa de estar enamorado de un modo irrestricto.La explicitacin de los fundamentos a partir del mtodo trascendental permite tener en cuenta la realidad del hombre como ser histrico en devenir e integra la experiencia moral y religiosa a la comprensin del actuar tico. De este modo la reflexin tica surge a partir de la historia vividaen la cual se manifiesta el hacerse a s mismo de los sujetos y la auto-constitucin de lavida moral de una comunidad o de un pueblo.

Resumen: El trabajo constituye una presentacin general del anlisis de la circulacin econmica elaborado por B. Lonergan quien, desde presupuestos filosficos diferentes de los implcitos en la teora econmica dominante, desarroll una aproximacin sistmica a la problemtica econmica que revela ciertas insuficiencias en las mediciones vigentes. En efecto, las variables de inters se ven modificadas cuando cambian las categoras fundamentales de anlisis. En la primera seccin se exponen los supuestos gnoseolgicos y epistemolgicos realistas desarrollados por este autor. Estos fundamentos permiten reconocer con mayor claridad las bases endebles de los abordajes actuales. Tras una breve enumeracin de algunas crticas al paradigma vigente de parte de diversos autores, se exponen las lneas generales del esquema propuesto por Lonergan.

In this paper we introduce a weighted complex networks model to investigate and recognize structures of patterns. The regular treating in pattern recognition models is to describe each pattern as a high-dimensional vector which however is insufficient to express the structural information. Thus, a number of methods are developed to extract the structural information, such as different feature extraction algorithms used in pre-processing steps, or the local receptive fields in convolutional networks. In our model, each pattern is attributed to a weighted complex network, whose topology represents the structure of that pattern. Based upon the training samples, we get several prototypal complex networks which could stand for the general structural characteristics of patterns in different categories. We use these prototypal networks to recognize the unknown patterns. It is an attempt to use complex networks in pattern recognition, and our result shows the potential for real-world pattern recognition. A spatial parameter is introduced to get the optimal recognition accuracy, and it remains constant insensitive to the amount of training samples. We have discussed the interesting properties of the prototypal networks. An approximate linear relation is found between the strength and color of vertexes, in which we could compare the structural difference between each category. We have visualized these prototypal networks to show that their topology indeed represents the common characteristics of patterns. We have also shown that the asymmetric strength distribution in these prototypal networks brings high robustness for recognition. Our study may cast a light on understanding the mechanism of the biologic neuronal systems in object recognition as well.

Resumen: Considerando la preocupacin de los obispos latinoamericanos y del Caribe en la V Conferencia General de Aparecida sobre los migrantes como nuevos actores sociales destinatarios de la evangelizacin y futuros misioneros, se hace una reflexin interdisciplinaria, entre la teologa y las ciencias sociales, sobre el trabajador migrante como lugar teolgico. Poniendo en equivalencia las categoras de xodo y migracin, se intenta hacer manifiesto el camino del esfuerzo del trabajador migrante que, en tiempos de globalizacin, ve en el trabajo una va de movilidad social ascendente desde la pobreza del ser a la dignidad del trabajador asalariado como creatura de Dios. Como ejemplo de solidaridad, de trabajadores misionando en funcin de trabajadores, se presenta el caso de la integracin regional sindical en red, y sus modos de irrupcin en el mundo de la determinacin

El autor ofrece algunas notas de un panorama soteriolgico desde distintos autores, con la finalidad de ubicar al lector en la problemtica moderna. El alcance pastoral de las categoras soteriolgicas se explica porque en ellas se trasmite una determinada imagen de Dios. As por ejemplo, en el siglo XIX y parte del siglo XX la imagen de la satisfaccin cruenta o la del sacrificio entendido como derramamiento de sangre, dominan la escena de toda la predicacin de Cuaresma y Pascua. Con sentido teolgico y pastoral, la presentacin se limita a los ncleos esenciales de la doctrina contenida en las categoras soteriolgicas seleccionadas.

Resumen: La cuestin sobre la integracin del saber es un tema particularmente relevante en el panorama de la epistemologa actual. Nuestra poca promueve un clima favorable al dilogo, pero con resultados de valor desparejo. Uno de los grandes intelectuales cristianos del siglo XX, Jacques Maritain, dedic una parte importante de su obra a reflexionar sobre estas cuestiones. Siguiendo su lema distinguir para unir este trabajo se despliega en dos partes: la primera referida al momento de distincin entre las disciplinas, y la segunda al momento de su (relativa) unificacin. En esta entrega se avanza a partir de las intuiciones primordiales de la sabidura metafsica y las grandes categoras del conocimiento: el saber en sentido analgico, la filosofa, la ciencia y la teologa. Maritain introduce el criterio de divisin a partir de lo especulativo y lo prctico. Luego, en el orden especulativo, recurre a la doctrina tradicional sobre la abstraccin y sus formas, esforzndose por adaptar los principios que la inspiran a la compleja temtica de la ciencia actual. Se cierra con una consideracin acerca de las modalidades del saber prctico. Este movimiento de distincin ser completado en la segunda parte del trabajo a partir de las exigencias de complementacin de las disciplinas involucradas.

Experiments concerning slightly slanting impact between a flat-ended rigid body and a flat-ended elastic cantilever column with a rectangular cross-section have been performed. The experimental results are compared with the theoretical ones. The small angle of incidence was measured by using an optical method. The impact process was studied by using a split disc for the rigid body, with the two halves bonded together and electrically insulated from each other. The disc and the column were parts of an electric circuit. Different contact states could be distinguished according to different voltage levels. Reasonably good agreement between theory and experiment was found. Thus, the impact duration has its minimum under perfectly axial impact as predicted by the theory. Also, the predicted process of alternating line and surface contact was observed. Furthermore, the existence of a small critical angle of incidence was verified. This critical angle of incidence divides the impact processes into two categories: (1) The rigid body and the column end come into surface contact before separation. (2) They separate without surface contact. Comparison of axial strains between theory and experiment shows good agreement.

[Es]Este artculo repasa los hitos ms significativos de la elaboracin del instrumento de observacin del formato de campo el salto en psicomotricidad durante el tercer ao de vida. La aplicacin de la Metodologa Observacional a la Prctica Psicomotriz Aucouturier (PPA)es posible ya que existe una doble complementariedad entre ambas: la metodologa observacional es la nica que puede evaluar y explicar, y no slo describir, el complejo flujo de actividad psicomotriz infantil o expresividad psicomotriz y la prctica psicomotriz aucouturier, a su vez, cumple el perfil ptimo de la metodologa observacional. El proceso metodolgico observacional impone entre sus condiciones la sistematizacin del instrumento de observacin; lo que comienza siendo un sistema de categoras en base a la propuesta observacional de la propia PPA, termina siendo un formato de campo al servicio del objetivo inicial de la investigacin, que es la evaluacin del comportamiento psicomotor infantil.
