En el actual marco de creciente innovación pedagógica, debido entre otros factores, a la irrupción de nuevas herramientas informáticas, la enseñanza a distancia (e-learning y/o b-learning) va ocupando cada vez más espacio en la oferta educativa de diversas instituciones. En esta dirección, en la Universidade do Minho, y concretamente en el Área de Estudos Espanhóis e Hispano-Americanos,[1] hemos dedicado considerables esfuerzos a la ampliación de nuestra oferta desde 2010: primero en la elaboración e implementación del Curso de Formación Especializada en Español Lengua Extranjera, modalidad b-learning (3 ediciones; 2010-2013), y, actualmente, con el Máster Universitario en Español Lengua Segunda / Lengua Extranjera (vid. www.melsle.ilch.uminho.pt), también b-learning. En las siguientes páginas, nos proponemos compartir una serie de experiencias y reflexiones que han ido surgiendo durante estos años acerca de la formación universitária de profesores de Español Lengua Extranjera, en general, con recurso a la modalidade b-learning; para ello, nos centraremos en los siguientes aspectos: (i) caracterización general y problematización de la enseñanza a distancia en la Universidade do Minho; (ii) descripción del Máster Universitario en Español Lengua Segunda / Lengua Extranjera, acerca del cual detallaremos algunas prácticas adoptadas, relacionadas com la enseñanza e-learning como, por ejemplo, (iii) la coordinación pedagógica o (iv) los enfoques metodológicos adoptados a partir de la experiencia de una Unidad Curricular concreta.

White sand forests, although low in nutrients, are characterized not only by several endemic species of plants but also by several monodominant species. In general, plants in this forest have noticeably thin stems. The aim of this work was to elaborate a parallel dichotomous key for the identification of Angiosperm tree species occurring on white sand forests at the Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve, Loreto, Peru. We compiled a list of species from several publications in order to have the most comprehensive list of species that occur on white sand forest. We found 219 species of Angiosperm, the more abundant species were Pachira brevipes (26.27%), Caraipa utilis (17.90%), Dicymbe uaiparuensis (13.27%), Dendropanax umbellatus (3.28%), Sloanea spathulata (2.52%), Ternstroemia klugiana (2.30%), Haploclathra cordata (2.28%), Parkia igneiflora (1.20%), Emmotum floribundum (1.06%), Ravenia biramosa (1.04%) among others. Most species of white sand forests can be distinguished using characteristics of stems, branches and leaves. This key is very useful for the development of floristic inventories and related projects on white sand forests from Allpahuayo Mishana National Reserve.

INTRODUCTION: The geriatric depression (GD) represents one of the most frequent psychiatric disorders in outpatient services specialized in old-age treatment. OBJECTIVE: The course of two illustrative cases of GD is discussed, highlighting its clinical picture after antidepressant treatment and underlining variables related to disease prognosis, treatment effectiveness and conversion to major cognitive disorders such as vascular dementia (VD). METHODS: The cognitive performance, depressive symptoms, autonomy and brain structural measurements as white matter hyperintensities (WMH) and hippocampal size, and microstructural integrity of WM with diffusion tensor imaging were followed during four years. RESULTS: Case 1, with a severe degree of WMH, was associated with worsening cognition and increasing functional disability. Case 2, with mild WMH, an improvement of cognitive functioning could be seen. CONCLUSIONS: The existence of different subtypes of GD, as presented in this report, points a pathophysiological heterogeneity of GD, and suggests a possible continuum vascular depression (VaDp) and vascular cognitive impairment (VCI).

(Excerto) El titulo que he escogido para esta intervención de hecho coloca en el telón de anlisis no un binomio (infancia y comunicación) sino que un trinomio (infancia, comunicación y educación). De toda manera es necesario decir, en este momento, que mi ángulo de reflexión se sitúa en el ámbito de la comunicación, perspectivada desde un punto de vista predominantemente sociológico. Me gustaría contribuir con esta reflexión para que conozcamos mejor a los niños en cuanto grupo social y como generación específica, reconozcamos que los procesos de socialización de las nuevas generaciones pierden por ser unilaterales y unidireccionales y, por fin, que desarrollar la educación para la ciudadana exige la promoción de contextos más participativos y significativos para los más nuevos. Para ubicar y concretar algunas de las reflexiones que propongo, me referiré algunas veces a dos trabajos empíricos en los que he estado involucrado en los últimos años. El primero es una investigación de casi cuatro años sobre los contextos de la vida cotidiana de niños en edad escolar y los roles de la televisión en esos contextos. El otro, aún no terminado, se ocupa de la producción de periódicos en la escuela como dimensión estruturante de la educación para los medios y tiene por base la participación de los centros educativos en un concurso nacional de periodismo escolar que el diario portugués ‘Público’ organiza bienalmente.

However, Yarrowia lipolytica have been studied and demonstrate a great potential as citric acid producer from several carbon sources [1–5] including crude glycerol, a low cost byproduct from the biodiesel industry [6]. [Excerto] El V Informe del IPCC insiste, de forma más contundente, sobre la existencia y riesgo irreversible del cambio climático. Las declaraciones de los científicos son cada vez más concluyentes, alertando que, para evitar interferencias peligrosas en el sistema climático, no podemos seguir con el statu quo y es preciso un giro copernicano a nivel tecnológico, institucional y humano de inicio inmediato, implicación global y sustanciosas inversiones (comunicado de prensa del IPCC, 13/04/2014). Ante la extralimitación en la emisión de gases de efecto invernadero, se impone una reacción de la especie humana íntimamente relacionada con los límites. Límites que también están vinculados al previsible fin de la etapa del petróleo fácil y al agotamiento de recursos. A la par de las advertencias científicas, están surgiendo numerosos movimientos sociales y redes, iniciativas econmicas y políticas que proponen y experimentan alternativas que a escala micro se muestran eficaces ante un cambio drástico hacia un futuro bajo en carbono(...).

Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by certain moulds, being ochratoxin A (OTA) one of the most relevant. Its chemical structure is a dihydro-isocoumarin connected at the 7-carboxy group to a molecule of L--phenylalanine via an amide bond. OTA contamination of wines might be a risk to consumer health, thus requiring treatments to achieve acceptable standards for human consumption [1]. According to the Regulation No. 1881/2006 of the European Commission, the maximum limit for OTA in wine is 2 µg/kg [2]. Therefore, the aim of this work was to know the effect of different fining agents on OTA removal, as well as their impact on white and red wine physicochemical characteristics. To evaluate their efficiency, 11 commercial fining agents (mineral, synthetic, animal and vegetable proteins) were used to get new approaches on OTA removal from white and red wines. Trials were performed in wines artificially supplemented (at a final concentration of 10 µg/L) with OTA. The most effective fining agent in removing OTA (80%) from white wine was a commercial formulation that contains gelatine, bentonite and activated carbon. Removals between 10-30% were obtained with potassium caseinate, yeast cell walls and pea protein. With bentonites, carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpolypyrrolidone and chitosan no considerable OTA removal was verified. In red wine, removals between 6-19% were obtained with egg albumin, yeast cell walls, pea protein, isinglass, gelatine, polyvinylpolypyrrolidone and chitosan. The most effective fining agents in removing OTA from red wine were an activated carbon (66%) followed again by the commercial formulation (55%), being activated carbon a well-known adsorbent of mycotoxins. These results may provide useful information for winemakers, namely for the selection of the most appropriate oenological product for OTA removal, reducing wine toxicity and simultaneously enhancing food safety and wine quality.

The presence of mycotoxins in foodstuff is a matter of concern for food safety. Mycotoxins are toxic secondary metabolites produced by certain molds, being ochratoxin A (OTA) one of the most relevant. Wines can also be contaminated with these toxicants. Several authors have demonstrated the presence of mycotoxins in wine, especially ochratoxin A (OTA) [1]. Its chemical structure is a dihydro-isocoumarin connected at the 7-carboxy group to a molecule of L--phenylalanine via an amide bond. As these toxicants can never be completely removed from the food chain, many countries have defined levels in food in order to attend health concerns. OTA contamination of wines might be a risk to consumer health, thus requiring treatments to achieve acceptable standards for human consumption [2]. The maximum acceptable level of OTA in wines is 2.0 g/kg according to the Commission regulation No. 1881/2006 [3]. Therefore, the aim of this work was to reduce OTA to safer levels using different fining agents, as well as their impact on white wine physicochemical characteristics. To evaluate their efficiency, 11 commercial fining agents (mineral, synthetic, animal and vegetable proteins) were used to get new approaches on OTA removal from white wine. Trials (including a control without addition of a fining agent) were performed in white wine artificially supplemented with OTA (10 µg/L). OTA analysis were performed after wine fining. Wine was centrifuged at 4000 rpm for 10 min and 1 mL of the supernatant was collected and added of an equal volume of acetonitrile/methanol/acetic acid (78:20:2 v/v/v). Also, the solid fractions obtained after fining, were centrifuged (4000 rpm, 15 min), the resulting supernatant discarded, and the pellet extracted with 1 mL of the above solution and 1 mL of H2O. OTA analysis was performed by HPLC with fluorescence detection according to Abrunhosa and Venncio [4]. The most effective fining agent in removing OTA (80%) from white wine was a commercial formulation that contains gelatine, bentonite and activated carbon. Removals between 10-30% were obtained with potassium caseinate, yeast cell walls and pea protein. With bentonites, carboxymethylcellulose, polyvinylpolypyrrolidone and chitosan no considerable OTA removal was verified. Following, the effectiveness of seven commercial activated carbons was also evaluated and compared with the commercial formulation that contains gelatine, bentonite and activated carbon. The different activated carbons were applied at the concentration recommended by the manufacturer in order to evaluate their efficiency in reducing OTA levels. Trial and OTA analysis were performed as explained previously. The results showed that in white wine all activated carbons except one reduced 100% of OTA. The commercial formulation that contains gelatine, bentonite and activated carbon (C8) reduced only 73% of OTA concentration. These results may provide useful information for winemakers, namely for the selection of the most appropriate oenological product for OTA removal, reducing wine toxicity and simultaneously enhancing food safety and wine quality.
