Numerous studies in physical education and music's area have been conducted to improve the quality of life and health of people, all of them under physiological, psychological and social fields. Thus, when properly analyzed, both Areas are connected, because the movement itself, main subject of physical education, has a close proximity to the rhythm, an essential element of music. That's why it is important to discover the benefits of this relationship, because, in many of its practices, physical education makes use of music, for example, in aerobic gymnastic and dance classes. As a consequence, this study aims to investigate, through literature, the influence of music in physical activities and its imprinting in the states of mind and body of practitioners, as well as clarify the criteria for choice of songs that are used in such practice. This research occurred under literary explore, done through theoretical analysis of the thematic. At first place, a contextualization of the auditory system and its relationship with the music and the perception of sound were made, then the main theme was explored. The music, even before generate and influence motor and psychic movements in the human body, is already moving in space, because it is formed through vibrations of molecules. It is decoded first as a movement from the ears, and then decoded as sound, when in the brain. It is important to worry about sounds at high intensities and also with those which are outside the hearing thresholds within physical activities involving music, because they may be harmful to health and also to states of mind. As far as music and movement is concerned, they are closely linked, and the human being has an instinctive sense of rhythm that can be seen when listening to music, because the motor cortex is also activated. Física e música: o uso de canções como ferramenta auxiliar no ensino de física

In this work we present a didactic proposal to use song lyrics for Physics Teaching aimed to High School level. Based on the work proposed by Zanetic (1990) that Physics is also Culture, we understand that its influence extends beyond the scientific boundaries, reaching spheres of knowledge where its presence is less obvious, such as the arts, especially Music. Based on proposals for Ramos and Gomes (2013), activities were conducted in two groups of second year of high school in the city of Rio Claro, each with an approach. In one of the classes the students received as material the lyrics of the songs printed and the other students were given a table along with the lyrics. In these materials the students identified physical concepts present in the songs Nuclear Shelter of the São Paulo band Premeditando the Breque and Manhattan Project of the Canadian band Rush. We observed during activities an improvement in the participation of students in theoretical discussions, probably due to a more favorable context for students to express themselves assigned by us to the activities with the songs. After performing the activities we demonstrated that you can enter the Music in the classroom not only as entertainment but as an aid in research and understanding of physical concepts

Dance-fight-game, art, religiosity, therapy, entertainment, ritual act, in short, "a way of being", are some of the various definitions/qualities attributed to the afro-brazilian cultural manifestation called "Capoeira Angola". Multivocal polysemic in its essence, Capoeira Angola is expressed in different languages which ranges from the types of touches of the musical instruments that make up the orchestra, through different types of songs, until we get the non-verbal communication established by the bodies of "capoeiristas" in the game and/or in the training body situation. The aim of this paper is to think of the line drawing in space, a significant problem in the execution of body movements of this practice. To address the relationship between line, efficiency and aesthetics of body movements, it is developed an ethnography in the Academy of João Pequeno de Pastinha-Sports Center of Capoeira Angola, based on anthropological interpretative approach, in which the concept of culture is semiotic.

Música popular e resistência: emergência de um agente folkcomunicacional a partir de um caso de conflito ambiental

Tralcao, situated in the Rios region, named after the various rivers that flow nearby, in Chile, is bathed by the Pichoy River and it encounters the rivers Estero Colliaico and Cruces. A cellulose company was established there back in 2004, and since the it has been dumping waste in the Cruces river, causing grave environmental issues and bringing severe consequences to the region. In the middle of the crossfire, we find Mr. Francisco Manquecho, considered to be an opinion leader according to Luis Beltrão, who assesses the real situation in the region throughout his song lyrics, acting as a propagator of the resistance against the environmental degradation occurring in Tralcao. Francisco acts as a ‘folkcommunicacional’ agent by spreading a non-hegemonic bias through his songs. The objective of this article is to show how an opinion leader acts in a context of environmental degradation in Tralcao region using the basis of the Folkcommunication Theory and the communicational processes which involve music as a concrete action of popular resistance.

The Mrs. J. Palmer Lockwood Journal consists of a 76 page journal kept by Mrs. J. Palmer (Leize) Lockwood concerning how the poem Carolina by Henry Timrod became the South Carolina state song. There is also a description of how Mrs. Lockwood worked to popularize the song, three copies of Timrod’s poem, and a copy of a poem titled “Carolina” by Mary Frances Wickliffe, Winthrop faculty member from 1895 to 1919.

Acoustic Detections of Singing Humpback Whales in Deep Waters Off The British Isles

From October 1996 through September 1998, we used bottom-mounted hydrophone arrays to monitor deep-water areas north and west of the British Isles for songs of humpback whales (Megaptera novaeangliae). Singing humpbacks were consistently detected between October and March from the Shetland- Faroe Islands south to waters west of the English Channel. Temporal and geographic patterns of song detections, and movements of individually tracked whales, exhibited a southwesterly trend over this period, but with no corresponding northward trend between April and September. These results, together with a review of historical data from this area, suggest that the offshore waters of the British Isles represent a migration corridor for humpbacks, at least some of which summer in Norwegian (and possibly eastern Icelandic) waters. The migratory destination of the detected animals remains unknown, but the limited data suggest that these whales are bound primarily for the West Indies rather than historical breeding areas off the northwestern coast of Africa. Humpbacks detected in British waters after early to mid- March probably do not undertake a full migration to the tropics. These data provide further evidence that singing is not confined to tropical waters in winter, but occurs commonly on migration even in high latitudes.

Estetica ed etica: un itinerario interpretativo, alla luce della ricerca di valori nel pensiero di Ingarden, Tischner, Levinas

The research is an itinerary from the discovery of the force of Love in the Song of Songs, where the human figure is given entirely through aesthetics, right to the agony of the other's death, where ethics, the "Severe Name of Love", is the only guard left; a journey through the contradictions of human mind, that, though aiming at Good, Beauty, Happiness, is completely immersed into the darkness of its finiteness and into evil. The consciousness leads to the creation of a world whose essential prefiguration is the Beauty; whose fundamental expression is the Good. Ethics must translate itself in responsability towards the other, in the history. This immersion into reality preserves the aesthetic and ethic dimension from the temptation of absolutizing the finite. In this work, the proximity and divergence between the aesthetic and ethic dimension is analysed, with reference to significant moments of the philosophical reflection, namely in the thought of Ingarden, Tishner and Levinas.

Uso de textos musicales (canciones) en la enseñanza del inglés

[ES]El presente artículo de investigación tiene como objetivo principal evaluar cómo el uso de los textos musicales –canciones, como popularmente se conocen– influye en el aprendizaje del inglés como lengua extranjera. Una investigación llevada a cabo con estudiantes de una clase de 2º de ESO nos ha servido para confirmar las hipótesis que en un principio teníamos en lo concerniente a la adquisición de las ocho competencias básicas mediante tareas en las clases de lengua inglesa. Así, el diseño de rúbricas con unos criterios e instrumentos de evaluación específicos nos ha permitido evaluar el grado de adquisición de competencias básicas concretas. [EN]This paper focuses on the impact that the use of music texts –commonly referred to with the term ‘songs’– has on students in teaching English as a foreign language. Through a survey carried out with students of a 2nd year class of Spanish Secondary Education, our initial assumptions in terms of acquisition of key competences in English learning were validated. in acquiring specific key competences by using tasks, rubrics –consisting of detailed assessment criteria and tools– were designed and implemented as the assessment method in order for students to successfully attain specific learning objectives.
