Palladium, platinum, and gold were analyzed for 20 interstitial water samples from Leg 125. No Pd or Pt was detected in fluids from serpentinite muds from Conical Seamount in the Mariana forearc, indicating that low-temperature seawater-peridotite interaction does not mobilize these elements into the serpentinizing fluids to levels above 0.10 parts per billion (ppb) in solution. However, Au may be mobilized in high pH solutions. In contrast, fluids from vitric-rich clays on the flanks of the Torishima Seamount in the Izu-Bonin forearc have Pd values of between 4.0 and 11.8 nmol/L, Pt values between 2.3 and 5.0 nmol/L and Au values between 126.9 and 1116.9 pmol/L. The precious metals are mobilized, and possibly adsorbed onto clay mineral surfaces, during diagenesis and burial of the volcanic-rich clays. Desorption during squeezing of the sediments may produce the enhanced precious metal concentrations in the analyzed fluids. The metals are mobilized in the fluids probably as neutral hydroxide, bisulfide, and ammonia complexes. Pt/Pd ratios are between 0.42 and 2.33, which is much lower than many of the potential sources for Pt and Pd but is consistent with the greater solubility of Pd compared with Pt in most natural low-temperature fluids.

The monograph presents results of deep-sea drilling in the Black Sea carried out in 1975. Detailed lithological, biostratigraphic and geochemical studies of Miocene-Holocene sediments have been carried out by specialists from institutes of the USSR Academy of Sciences, Moscow State University and other organizations. Drilling results are compared with geophysical data. Geological history of the Black Sea basin is considered as well.

La alimentación ocupa un rol importante en el desarrollo de todo ser humano. Conocer el estado nutricional y hábitos alimentarios de los estudiantes es una necesidad, ya que impacta en forma directa en la calidad de vida y salud de los mismos. Objetivos: · Analizar los hábitos alimentarios de los estudiantes del nivel Superior. · Relacionar la alimentación con factores socio económicos que influyen directa o indirectamente sobre los hábitos alimentarios. · Determinar las posibles acciones que permitan lograr un cambio cultural en los hábitos alimentarios de los estudiantes y que se transformen merced a su futura profesión, en agentes de este cambio en la población. Métodos: se ha utilizado metodología cuantitativo-descriptiva, mediante análisis de encuestas realizadas a un grupo de estudiantes de las diferentes carreras que se desarrollan en el Instituto PT-071 Cruz Roja Argentina. Resultados: La mayoría de los estudiantes universitarios de la Cruz Roja Argentina no llegan a cubrir las necesidades nutritivas de las dietas diarias. Saltean algunas de las comidas por no disponer de tiempo suficiente y en general consumen grandes cantidades de azúcares y lípidos que forman parte de dietas hipercalóricas, que conducen a enfermedades como sobrepeso y obesidad, hipertensión arterial y diabetes, entre otras.
