O programa de formação dos mentores: conceção e planeamento

Este texto define e enquadra teoricamente as principais finalidades e orientações metodológicas do programa de formação dos mentores que acompanharam os professores em período probatório. O referencial de formação dos mentores construiu-se em torno das diferentes dimensões do ato de ensinar. A metodologia de formação organizou-se a partir do conceito de desenvolvimento profissional, considerando o mentor como objeto e sujeito da formação e procurando articular o processo formativo e o trabalho de supervisão desenvolvido pelos mentores, no terreno. As sessões de formação foram planeadas estrategicamente a partir de questões orientadoras às quais se procurou dar resposta através de um conjunto de atividades e materiais. Durante a implementação do período probatório foi produzido pelos intervenientes um conjunto considerável de documentos que foram trabalhados durante a formação. - Abstract This article defines and frames theoretically the main purposes and the methodological guidelines of the training program of mentors who have accompanied teachers on the probationary period. Those guidelines were constructed around the different dimensions of the act of teaching. The training methodology was organized from the concept of professional development, considering the mentor as object and subject of training and seeking to articulate the formative process and supervision work developed by mentors on the field. Training sessions have been strategically planned from guiding questions which sought to respond through a range of activities and materials. During the implementation of the probationary period, the participants delivered a considerable set of documents, which were worked on during training.- Resumen Este texto define y enfoca teóricamente las principales finalidades y orientaciones metodológicas del programa de formación de los mentores que acompañaron a los profesores en el periodo probatorio. La referencia formativa de los mentores se construyó en torno de las distintas dimensiones del hecho de enseñar. La metodología formativa se organizó a partir del concepto de desarrollo profesional, considerando al mentor como objeto y sujeto de la formación y buscando articular el proceso formativo y el trabajo de supervisión desarrollado por los mentores, en el terreno. Las sesiones de formación se proyectaron estratégicamente a partir de planteos orientadores, a los cuales se les dio respuesta a través de un conjunto de actividades y materiales. Durante la implementación del periodo probatorio, los participantes produjeron un considerable conjunto de documentos que se elaboraron durante la formación.

O processo de desenvolvimento profissional visto pelos professores mentores

Neste artigo apresentam-se e discutem-se os resultados da análise de 74 reflexões realizadas pelos mentores relativamente à oficina de formação em que participaram. Os resultados permitem concluir que os professores mentores consideraram que a formação contribuiu para o seu desenvolvimento profissional e, através deles, para o desenvolvimento profissional dos professores em período probatório que supervisionavam. No entanto, os professores mentores referem-se consideravelmente menos ao contributo da formação para o desenvolvimento organizacional das escolas e preveem escassas repercussões a esse nível. Quanto ao processo de formação, consideram-no útil e de qualidade, valorizando essencialmente os documentos trabalhados nas sessões e as estratégias utilizadas. - Abstract In this paper we present and discuss the results of 74 reflections made by mentors regarding the training workshops in which they took part. The results show that teachers mentors consider that the training contributed to their professional development and, through them, to the professional development of teachers who they supervised during the probation period. However teachers mentors refer considerably less to the contribution of training towards the organizational development of schools and foresee little impact at this level. Asfor the training process, they consider it useful and of quality, valuing mainly the documents worked on during sessions and the strategies used. - Resumen En este artículo se presentan los resultados del análisis realizado sobre 74 reflexiones hechas por los mentores sobre el taller de formación en el que participaron. Los resultados concluyen que los profesores mentores consideraron que la formación contribuyó para su desarrollo profesional, y a través de ello, para el desarrollo profesional de los profesores en periodo probatorio que supervisaban. Los profesores mentores se refieren poco a la contribución de la formación para el desarrollo organizacional de las escuelas y consideran que habrá escasa repercusión a ese nivel. En cuanto al proceso de formación, lo consideran útil y de calidad, valorando esencialmente los documentos elaborados en las sesiones y las estrategias utilizadas.

Training control centers' operators in incident diagnosis and power restoration using intelligent tutoring systems

The activity of Control Center operators is important to guarantee the effective performance of Power Systems. Operators’ actions are crucial to deal with incidents, especially severe faults like blackouts. In this paper, we present an Intelligent Tutoring approach for training Portuguese Control Center operators in tasks like incident analysis and diagnosis, and service restoration of Power Systems. Intelligent Tutoring System (ITS) approach is used in the training of the operators, having into account context awareness and the unobtrusive integration in the working environment. Several Artificial Intelligence techniques were criteriously used and combined together to obtain an effective Intelligent Tutoring environment, namely Multiagent Systems, Neural Networks, Constraint-based Modeling, Intelligent Planning, Knowledge Representation, Expert Systems, User Modeling, and Intelligent User Interfaces.

Cyber-ambient intelligent training of operators in power systems control centres

Cyber-Physical Systems and Ambient Intelligence are two of the most important and emerging paradigms of our days. The introduction of renewable sources gave origin to a completely different dimension of the distribution generation problem. On the other hand, Electricity Markets introduced a different dimension in the complexity, the economic dimension. Our goal is to study how to proceed with the Intelligent Training of Operators in Power Systems Control Centres, considering the new reality of Renewable Sources, Distributed Generation, and Electricity Markets, under the emerging paradigms of Cyber-Physical Systems and Ambient Intelligence. We propose Intelligent Tutoring Systems as the approach to deal with the intelligent training of operators in these new circumstances.

Peculiarities of the professional education and qualification appraisal of assistants of pharmacists in Lithuania

Following the alterations and additions to the pharmaceutical law of Lithuanian Republic the pharmaceutical activity in Lithuanian pharmacies is carried out by pharmacy specialists – pharmacists and pharmacy assistants (pharmacy technicians). The ability of pharmacy specialists to adapt, to improve and to develop their competencies is one of the success preconditions for Lithuanian health care pharmacy sector. Work aim: to investigate the changes among the specialists employed in pharmacies and pharmacy sector as well as to highlight the necessity to develop the qualification of pharmacy assistants (pharmacy technicians) according to the modern pharmaceutical legal basis in Lithuania. In 2008–2011 the research in Lithuanian pharmacy sector was performed which identified the changes in the numbers of pharmacies and their staff: the number of pharmacies decreased, while the number of pharmacists increased and the number of the assistants of pharmacists (pharmacy technicians) decreased. The decrease in the number of the assistants of pharmacists (pharmacy technicians) and the danger of their extinction in the future has been identified. The qualification appraisal for pharmacy assistants (pharmacy technicians) is implemented through the leveling studies at the Pharmacy technique department at the Health care faculty of Kauno Kolegija University of applied sciences and pharmacy study programme at the faculty of Pharmacy of Medical Academy at Lithuanian University of Health Sciences. 75 % of respondents use their own money to pay for the qualification appraisal, and 25 % of respondents get financial support for the qualification appraisal activities from the pharmacy managers.

The impact of exercise training on liver transplanted familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP) patients

Liver transplantation is nowadays the only effective answer to adjourn the outcome of functional limitations associated with familial amyloidotic polyneuropathy (FAP), a neurodegenerative disease characterized by sensory and motor polyneuropathies. Nevertheless, there is a detrimental impact associated with the after-surgery period on the fragile physical condition of these patients. Exercise training has been proven to be effective on reconditioning patients after transplantation. However, the effects of exercise training in liver transplanted FAP patients have not been scrutinized yet.

Accounting logic and new professional in healthcare: a case study

The central place hospitals occupy in health systems transforms them into prime target of healthcare reforms. This study aims to identify current trends in organizational structure change in public hospitals and explore the role of accounting in attempts to develop controls over professionals within public hospitals. The analytical framework we proposed crosses the concept of “new professionalism” (Evetts, 2010), with the concept of “accounting logic” for controlling professionals (Broadbent and Laughlin, 1995). Looking for a more holistic overview, we developed a qualitative and exploratory study. The data were collected trough semi-structured interviews with doctors of a clinical hospital unit. Content analysis suggests that, although we cannot say that there is a complete and generalized integration of accounting information in the clinical decisions, important improvement has been made in that area. Despite the extensive literature developed on this topic, there is any empirical studies of authors are aware that allow us to realize how real doctors in reals day-to-day work integrated these trends of change in theirs clinical decisions.

Literary translation and quality assessment analysis – its significance in translation training

This paper aims to highlight the role of translation quality assessment in translation training so as to develop students’ translation competence and skills to face translation problems. An analysis to assess literary translation quality is proposed before proceeding to discuss its pedagogical implementation.
