Las vivencias presentadas, están basadas en la experiencia de trabajo de la Biblioteca Nacional del Perú, en el establecimiento penitenciario de régimen cerrado Piedras Gordas ubicada en Ancón a 50 minutos fuera de la ciudad de Lima. Siendo la educación un derecho humano que opera como un derecho llave, ya que abre el conocimiento de otros derechos. El Sistema Nacional de Bibliotecas - SNB a través del centro coordinador de la Red Bibliotecas Educativas y Especializadas, realizó en forma experimental el servicio de maletas viajeras, como actividad de extensión bibliotecaria con el Programa Lectura sin barreras, enmarcado en los Derechos Humanos, accesibilidad a la información y la animación y fomento de la lectura. Así como el desarrollo de dos proyectos: Despertando talentos ocultos (2005) y Libres por la creatividad (2006).

Scitable - Learn Science with Nature Education

Scitable is an open online teaching/learning portal combining high quality educational articles authored by editors at NPG with technology-based community features to fuel a global exchange of scientific insights, teaching practices, and study resources. Scitable currently contains articles in the field of genetics, and is intended for college undergraduate faculty and students. Future plans involve extension of Scitable to other fields within the life sciences, as well as to other audiences. Scitable brings together a library of scientific overviews with a worldwide community of scientists, researchers, teachers and students. Nature Education is a new division of Nature Publishing Group devoted to facilitating high quality, innovative, accessible science education in all countries of the world.

Asociacion entre la grasa epicardica con la extension y severidad de la enfermedad coronaria

Objetivo: Establecer si existe asociación independiente entre los valores de grasa epicárdica con la extensión y la severidad de la enfermedad coronaria. Materiales y métodos: Se analizaron 69 pacientes con enfermedad coronaria estudiada con angiografía, a quienes se realizó medición de grasa epicárdica con ecocardiograma transtorácico en modo 2D. Los resultados se correlacionaron con dos Score de severidad para enfermedad coronaria (Gensini – Syntax) y con los factores de riesgo cardiovascular tradicionales. Se realizó un análisis estadístico bivariado y análisis de regresión logística para establecer su asociación. Resultados: No existió correlación entre los valores de grasa epicárdica y la severidad de la enfermedad. Se documentó una leve correlación con los valores de perímetro abdominal. En los pacientes con angina inestable los valores de grasa epicárdica fueron mayores en comparación con los pacientes que se presentaron con infarto agudo de miocardio. Conclusiones: La grasa epicárdica no tiene asociación independiente con la severidad de la enfermedad coronaria ni con los factores de riesgo cardiovascular. Indicando que en la práctica clínica no debe utilizarse como marcador de riesgo cardiometabólico.
