Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) is one of the most popular sports in the world, but it is a new sport and there are few studies on its historical process. The television appearances and the new medias show a sport that changes in each event, presenting an image of the current spectacle and of the spectacle of consumption. The purpose of this study is to explore and analyze the historical process and the creation of MMA, how it came out and the reasons that have led the sport to be as popular as it is today

Ensino de f��sica e energia: estudo de possibilidades did��ticas na educação b��sica

This monograph has the inspiring theme of the Energy education, concept of extreme importance to physics, but that is rarely addressed in Brazilian schools. We bring a discussion of the problems faced in teaching this subject and present this analysis of how this issue is addressed in some textbooks that are part of the material available to students of basic education in our country. We also discuss a didactic proposal to the Physics Teaching using for this experiment. The proposal considers the student protagonist of the learning process being the builder of his own knowledge. For this proposal selected three experiments (solar plate, looping and looping coffee cups) analyzed from the point of view of energy that have the intention to leave this clearer content and close to the students. Here is the end of this work the application of the examination of this proposal in a public school in full-time education in the municipality of Rio Claro - SP

This study aimed at evaluating the knowledge on visceral leishmaniasis gained after the application of an educative project for the 6th and 7th grade students from three public schools of Birigui, SP, Brazil. A questionnaire before (Phase I) and after (Phase II) activities that comprehended one conference by a health agent, a comic contest and one crossword about VL was used to measure scholar���s knowledge. We interviewed 711 students in Phase I and 693 in Phase II. A criterion of VL knowledge was adopted as ���Good���, ���Medium��� and ���Bad��� when, out of 10 questions analyzed by Item Response Theory, 10 to 8, 7 to 4, and 3 to 0 were right, respectively. We observed a statistically significant increase in the students��� knowledge level after the educational project, since the number of students with ���Good��� concept changed from 35.7% (Phase I) to 59.7% (Phase II). The educational activities carried out led to gains in knowledge among students suggesting that continuing education can bring good results to public health.

Some remarks on how Cultural History has been used in Mathematics Education are the main focus of this paper. It tries to discuss, basically, three works (In Cold Blood, by Truman Capote; O crime do restaurante chin��s, by Boris Fausto; and Os protagonistas an��nimos da História, de Ronaldo Vainfas) in order to present some perspectivas about narratives and textual elaboration in the field of Historiography.
