O porto do Funchal é uma realidade recente. Historicamente podemos considerar que existe porto desde o final do Século XIX, muito embora já com D. José I tivesse havido uma Determinação real para proceder à construção de uma infra-estrutura portuária, o que só parcialmente foi cumprido, num processo apenas terminado em 2011. Até aí e desde a colonização, o desembarque de pessoas e bens era feito no calhau, ao ritmo e sabor das levadias e dos estados do mar e da força humana, numa tradição que ficou expressa em inúmeras obras e registos de viagem e igualmente no Pilar de Banger, mandado construir por um britânico, como base de guindaste para descargas. No século XX, o porto do Funchal, ao mesmo tempo que era local de comércio e descarga de mercadorias, assim como de passageiros, foi progressivamente assistindo ao surgir de um novo conceito em matéria de turismo, não já apenas e só como mero transporte, mas tendo como objectivo o cruzeiro. Esta Dissertação pretende estudar, quantificar e se possível teorizar, ainda que de forma sucinta, a importância que esse novo tipo de lazer, a partir de agora, por nós designado de cruzeiro, teve, tem e esperamos venha a ter, na nossa economia regional e no bemestar e progresso económico dos múltiplos intervenientes nesta actividade. Para nos apoiar neste desiderato, para além da teoria, construímos um inquérito, que foi apresentado ao turista de cruzeiro, durante a sua escala e a fruição desta, por si mesmo, em passeios a pé pela cidade do Funchal ou guiado por um guia, conhecendo o potencial do nosso porto. Este inquérito foi feito em colaboração com a APRAM, o SNATTI e a EUROMAR, assim como com outros intervenientes nesta cadeia de valor, tendo nós, conceptores e aplicadores do mesmo, procurado seguir uma linha de orientação que nos permitisse a comparação dos resultados, com inquéritos desenvolvidos anteriormente. O nosso objectivo essencial é não apenas o de prosseguir num percurso de valorização pessoal e académica mas também procurar dotar com dados quantificáveis, todos os parceiros deste negócio da nossa região e contribuir de uma forma activa e responsável na definição e planeamento do nosso melhor recurso económico, o Turismo. Esta Dissertação é, por agora, um objectivo em si, mas não se esgota como tal e a nossa missão não termina hic et nunc, uma vez que trabalhamos por mero prazer intelectual, sentimos que somos apoiados institucional e pessoalmente e temos a certeza de que o que estamos a desenvolver, poderá ser útil para a nossa economia e para a nossa Região.

A indústria da construção tem um papel de destaque na vida quotidiana do ser humano e por sua vez uma grande importância no desenvolvimento da atividade económica do país. A construção de novos edifícios e infraestruturas deve contribuir para uma melhoria do desempenho, durabilidade e proporcionar qualidade de vida dos seus cidadãos. O reconhecimento da importância das fachadas para o comportamento dos edifícios tem conduzido a uma crescente atenção à temática da durabilidade do ponto de vista económico, assistindo-se cada vez a uma maior necessidade da sua integração na fase da elaboração do projeto. O recurso a metodologias económicas para a previsão dos custos de vida útil das tecnologias de construção no sentido de avaliar, o seu desempenho nos edifícios, tem permitido selecionar alternativas ao nível da implementação de soluções com menor custo de manutenção e maior probabilidade de reutilização e reciclagem numa fase de desconstrução. A presente dissertação pretende contribuir para a identificação e seleção de soluções construtivas e materiais para a execução de fachadas ventiladas em paredes exteriores de edifícios, que sejam o mais compatíveis possível com os objetivos económicos nas diversas fases do ciclo de vida de um edifício. Sendo apresentadas soluções que minimizam o custo económico de investimento, manutenção e desconstrução, e que por sua vez, aumentam a qualidade de vida dos utilizadores através do melhor desempenho que essas soluções construtivas apresentam a nível funcional, arquitetónico, saúde, bemestar, conforto e responsabilidade social. Foram analisadas diversas tecnologias construtivas para fachadas-ventilada, tendo sido avaliado o seu impacte económico ao longo do ciclo de vida a que um edifício esta sujeito. O melhor cenário para fachada ventilada foi estudado, tendo em conta o desempenho económico. Espera-se assim que este trabalho contribua de forma positiva para a seleção das soluções construtivas mais económicas para a execução de fachadas ventiladas por parte dos projetistas que tenham como objetivo proporcionar as condições de conforto adequadas aos ocupantes dos edifícios, minimizando os custos económicos no decorrer do ciclo de vida do edifício.

A grande maioria das estruturas existentes atualmente contém aço na sua constituição, seja na forma de aço estrutural, seja na forma de armaduras de betão armado. A deterioração precoce do aço destas estruturas é um fenómeno muito comum e que tem acarretado grandes custos em reabilitações e reparações. O principal fator para essa deterioração precoce é o contacto de agentes agressivos, como os cloretos, com o aço que originam a sua corrosão. Na Ilha da Madeira alguns desses agentes agressivos estão presentes em grandes quantidades, promovendo a súbita corrosão do aço, fazendo com que os custos de manutenção sejam elevados. Uma das formas de evitar a corrosão do aço é através da utilização do aço inoxidável reduzindo assim os custos com manutenções ao longo da sua vida útil. Nesta dissertação pretende-se avaliar se a utilização do aço inoxidável em vez do aço carbono na Ilha da Madeira é economicamente mais vantajosa a longo prazo. Para esse fim foram elaboradas diversas tarefas. Numa fase inicial foi realizada uma análise comparativa entre o aço carbono e o aço inoxidável em termos de propriedades gerais, comportamento mecânico e regulamentação, mas também uma pesquisa sobre as aplicações e os tipos de aço inoxidável. Numa fase seguinte foram abordados mecanismos de degradação e métodos de reparação para a corrosão. Para além disso, foram determinados os tempos de vida útil de projeto, através de modelos de degradação, e estimados cenários de degradação e manutenção. Posteriormente foram dimensionados dois tipos de estruturas (betão armado e estrutura metálica) e para dois tipos de aço (aço carbono e aço inoxidável) por forma a determinar o peso dos materiais das estruturas para apurar o seu custo. Em seguida foram realizadas as análises económicas das estruturas mencionadas anteriormente face aos cenários de manutenção anteriormente realizados. As análises recaíram sobre os custos inicias das estruturas e os custos a longo prazo, para um período de vida útil de 50 anos. Em função da análise realizada pode concluir-se que na Ilha da Madeira a utilização do aço inoxidável nas estruturas metálicas, por enquanto, não é vantajosa em termos económicos. Para as estruturas de betão armado, verificou-se também que na maioria dos casos a utilização do aço carbono é a melhor opção económica a longo prazo, exceto nas estruturas perto do mar com cimentos do tipo CEM I ou CEM II/A, em que o aço inoxidável é a melhor opção, pois embora este apresente um custo inicial superior ao do aço carbono, o seu custo total a longo prazo incluindo as reparações é inferior.

With the disorganized decentralization occurred in Brazil after the 1988 Constitution, municipalities have risen to the level of federal entities. This phenomenon became known as "municipalism" also brought some negative effects such as low capacity financial, economic and political of these entities. In the face of this reality , the municipalities sought in models of collaborative features to address public policy issues ultrarregionais, one of these models are the Public Consortia. Characterized as the organization of all federal entities that aim to solve public policy implementation alone that they could not, or spend great resources for such. This reality of the municipalities have an aggravating factor when looking at the situation in Metropolitan Regions (MRs). This is because the RMs has a historical process of formation that does not encourage cooperation, since that were created top-down during the military regime. Furthermore, the metropolitan municipalities have significant power asymmetries, localist vision, rigidity earmarked revenues, different scenarios conurbation, difficulty standardization of concepts and others that contribute to the vision of low cooperation of these metropolitan areas. Thus, the problem of this work is in the presence of collaborative arrangements, such as the Public Consortia in metropolitan areas, which are seen as areas of low cooperation. To elucidate this research was used for analysis the cases of CONDIAM/PB and Consórcio Grande Recife/PE, because they are apparently antagonistic, but with some points of similarity. The cases has as foundation the Theory of Common Resources, which provides the possibility of collective action through the initiative of individuals. This theory has as its methodology for analyzing the picture IAD Framework, which proposes its analysis based on three axes: external variables, the arena of action and results. The nature of the method of this research was classified as exploratory and descriptive. For the stage of date analysis, was used the method of document analysis and content, Further than of separation of the cases according to theur especificities. At the end of the study, noted that the CONDIAM/PB was a strategy of municipal government of Joao Pessoa to attract funds from the Federal Government for the purpose of to build a landfill, and over the years the ideology of cooperation was left aside, the prevailing view localist municipalities. In the case of Consórcio Grande Recife/PE, members act with some degree of cooperation, especially the collaborative aspect of the region, however, still prevails with greater strength the power of the state of Pernambuco in the decisions and paths of the consortium. Thus, was conclude that the Public Consortia analyzed are an experience of collaborative arrangement, from the initiative of members, as the theory of common resources says, but has not actually signed as a practice of collective action to overcome the dilemmas faced by metropolitan areas

The necessity of the insertion of the capital of Rio Grande do Norte in the world-wide commercial scene and its claim as the seat of political power, in ends of nineteenth and beginning of twentieth century, determined the direction of urban interventions undertaken by government to restructure the city. In that matter, there were several actions of improvements and embellishment in Natal, which had, as a starting point, the adequacy works of the port, located in the Ribeira quarter, with the aim of ending the physical isolation that reinforced its economic stagnation. Besides the problems faced in the opening bar of the Potengi River, and would complement the required improvements, other barriers demonstrate the tension established between the physic-geographic field and the man: the flooded and slope which connected Cidade Alta and Ribeira the first two quarters of the city.The execution of these works demanded knowledge whose domain and application it was for engineering. But, how the actions done for the engineers, in sense to transform natural areas into constructed spaces made possible the intentional conformation of the quarter of the Ribeira in a commercial and politician-administrative center, in the middle of the XIX century and beginning of the XX? Understand, therefore, the employment effects of technology on the physical-geographical Ribeira, is the objective of this work that uses theoretical and methodological procedures of Urban Environmental History, by analyzing the relationship between the environment and the man, mediated by knowledge and use of technologies. The documental research was used, as primary sources, the Messages of the Provincial Assembly Government that later became the Legislative Assembly of Rio Grande do Norte reports and articles on specialized publications, in addition to local newspapers. The work is structured in five chapters. First, some comments about Urban Environmental History (Chapter 1) supplemented with analysis of the conceptual construction of nature in the Contemporary Era and its application in the city (chapter 02), the following chapters (03 and 04) deal with the rise of engineers as a active group in the Brazilian government frameworks and their vision about the nature inside the urban environment and it is studied how the professional technicians dealt with the improvement work of the harbor and in the shock with the natural forces. Other works that would complement this "project" of modernization and had had natural obstacles to be removed the Ribeira flood and slope constitute the subject of the fifth chapter. Finally, some final considerations retake the initial discussions aiming an association between the technique and the nature as junction elements inside the process of constitution of a Modern Natal

This work presents the results of a survey in oil-producing region of the Macau City, northern coast of Rio Grande do Norte. All work was performed under the Project for Monitoring Environmental Change and the Influence of Hydrodynamic forcing on Morphology Beach Grass Fields, Serra Potiguar in Macau, with the support of the Laboratory of Geoprocessing, linked to PRH22 - Training Program in Geology Geophysics and Information Technology Oil and Gas - Department of Geology/CCET/UFRN and the Post-Graduation in Science and Engineering Oil/PPGCEP/UFRN. Within the economic-ecological context, this paper assesses the importance of mangrove ecosystem in the region of Macau and its surroundings as well as in the following investigative exploration of potential areas for projects involving reforestation and / or Environmental Restoration. At first it was confirmed the ecological potential of mangrove forests, with primary functions: (i) protection and stabilization of the shoreline, (ii) nursery of marine life, and (iii) source of organic matter to aquatic ecosystems, (iv) refuge of species, among others. In the second phase, using Landsat imagery and techniques of Digital Image Processing (DIP), I came across about 18,000 acres of land that can be worked on environmental projects, being inserted in the rules signed the Kyoto Protocol to the market carbon. The results also revealed a total area of 14,723.75 hectares of activity of shrimp production and salting that can be harnessed for the social, economic and environmental potential of the region, considering that over 60% of this area, ie, 8,800 acres, may be used in the planting of the genus Avicennia considered by the literature that the species best sequesters atmospheric carbon, reaching a mean value of 59.79 tons / ha of mangrove

When it comes to oil and gas in Brazil is almost certain that we are referring to activities in deep waters off the coast of Campos, Rio de Janeiro, the main field of action of PETROBRAS and a small number of multinational oil companies . Since the Law 9.478/97 allows, by means of concessions, that other companies other than Petrobras, to explore and produce oil and gas domestically. Soon it moved, then the private companies that want small and medium-sized businesses to invest in such activities, forming a segment of independent producers, as occurs in other countries. In this context, this work aims at making an economic feasibility study, is currently analyzing how this thread and focus on the factors that contribute to its development as well as those that constitute barriers. To this end, we conducted a survey examining some mature fields that are in production in order to capture cost information in the phases of project, operation and abandonment. The work also presents an analysis of the results obtained in the survey, identifying the costs higher. With the results obtained through the study used economic engineering tools such as NPV and IRR, using a variety of design scenarios, to study the economic viability of these fields. In scenario 4 was set a production of 4.0 m³ / d of oil, which is an expected average production for several of these fields, whose minimum value of a barrel of oil, to enable this field, was $ 55.00, this value well below what was being practiced in the market today.

The study assessed the economic efficiency of the pacu with the piacu cultivation in fishponds hollowed in the Middle Paranapanema region, State of São Paulo, 2007/08 crop. It was used the structures of the effective operational cost (EOC) and total operational cost (TOC) and five profitability indicators economic. The TOC per cycle ha(-1) were US$ 12,182.90. The production cost of the pacu and of the piaucu it was US$ 1.20 kg(-1) and US$ 1.40 kg(-1), respectively. The gross income were US$ 17,077.30 ha(-1), operational profit US$ 4,894.30 ha(-1), gross margins 43.8% and profitability rate 30.3%. The break even point 6,125.40 kg ha(-1) for the pacu and 805.90 kg ha(-1) for the piaucu. The viable minimum module corresponded to 0,5 ha of mirror of water. Considering that in the Medium Paranapanema region the medium area of mirror of water for producer is of 0,6 ha, it was ended that this policulture is an alternative of income for enterprising rural regional.

In the context of the high expectative of live and the high number of older age persons, consider that that the high number of years had lived correspond the exposition of this individuals to corporate of the ambientals aggressions and own processes of human constitution of natural wear, like as chronicle-degenerate disease, the example is cancer. This study investigated how the process of the constitution of the subject is interpreted in the formulations of the founders of socio-historical psychology (Lev S. Vigotski, Alexei N. Leontiev and Alexander R. Luria) and in the sociology of knowledge of Peter Berger and Thomas Luckmann. These two theoretical perspectives, despite having different philosophical formulations as ontological and epistemological intentions (socio-historical psychology, historical dialectical materialism; the sociology of Berger and Luckmann and phenomenology) arrive, however, at the same basic conclusion about the social nature of the subject. The objective of the study, therefore, was that of identifying the differences and convergences between the two perspectives and then, try to determine the possibility of a theoretical synthesis between them in relation to the constitution of the subject. At the same time, we intended to analyse the implications of this possible synthesis in order to comprehend the manner in which the ideology functions in human societies as thought by Louis Althusser and Alípio de Sousa Filho. We arrived at the conclusion that, despite being incompatible from the ontological and epistemological points of view, a synthesis is possible between socio-historical psychology and the sociology of knowledge of Berger and Luckmann in relation to the conception of society and the comprehension of the process of the constitution of the subject. Starting from the philosophical intentions of socio-historical psychology, it is possible to incorporate, enriching points such as: Berger s and Luckmann sconception of society and the interpretation of the process of constitution of the subject. This possible synthesis, when interpreted in light of the reflections of Althusser and Sousa Filho on the phenomenon of ideology in human societies, is constituted in a real unveiling of the concrete provisos by which the ideology acts in human societies in order to transform biological examples of the human species in specific social subjects

The aim of this work is to analyze the phenomenon of the partner-space segregation in the city of Fortaleza, having as reference the sprouting of recent forms of housing that privilege areas with desert-like aspects, and the removal from the popular accumulations, which is becoming the shelter of the populations economically favored of the capital. Our field study was developed in the land division Alpha Village, a located urban enterprise in the east of the city. Different from the research that deals with the question of segregation as a sui generis product of the partner-economic inequality, we opt to an analysis directed more towards the dimension of the subjectivity, searching the roots of the phenomenon in the proper constitution of the human being. From interviews with the inhabitants of the related land division, we decided to analyze the social imaginary significances (Castoriadis) that composed their speech, and that they defined in this way, its representations concerning themselves, as strangers that cross the streets of the cited space, becoming thus suspected in potential. Inside our perspective, the segregation gains a ambiguous connotation, therefore at the same time that it authorizes the symbolic destruction of the other, it is also a tool that aids to support the "pain of the unreliability"
