Films of CuInSe2 were deposited onto glass substrates by a hot wall deposition method using bulk CuInSe2 as a source material. All the deposited CuInSe2 films were found to be polycrystalline in nature exhibiting the chalcopyrite structure with the crystallite orientation along (101),(112),(103),(211),(220),(312) and (400) directions. The photocurrent was found to increase with increase in film thickness and also with increase of light intensity. Photocurrent spectra show a peak related to the band-to-band transition. The spectral response of CuInSe2 thin films was studied by allowing the radiation to pass through a series of interference filters in the wavelength range 700-1200 rim. Films of higher thickness exhibited higher photosensitivity while low thickness films exhibited moderate photosensitivity. CuInSe2-based Solar cells with different types of buffer layers such as US, Cdse, CuInSe2 and CdSe0.7Te0.3 were fabricated. The current and voltage were measured using an optical power meter and an electrometer respectively. The fabricated solar cells were illuminated using 100 mW/cm(2) white light under AM1 conditions. A sensitive and simple method for quantification of antibodies against small molecules is described using DNP-lysozyme as the enzyme conjugate. The anti-DNP antiserum was raised against DNP-bovin serum albumin conjugate. Anti-DNP antibody or its monovalent fragment (Fab) reduced the enzyme activity of DNP-lysozyme conjugate in a concentration-dependent manner. The inhibition of enzyme activity is a specific measure of the antibody and Fab content of the sample. The specificity of the reaction was assessed by reduction of antibody-induced inhibition by DNP-lysine. The ability of DNP-lysine to reduce the antibody-induced inhibition of DNP-lysozyme activity also makes possible a sensitive assay for DNP-lysine.

An exact expression for the frequency of a non-linear cubic spring mass system is obtained considering the effect of static deflection. An alternative expression for the approximate frequency is also obtained by the direct linearization procedure; it is shown that this is very accurate as compared with the exact method. This approximate frequency equation is used to explain a “dual behaviour” of the frequency amplitude curves.

A general asymptotic method based on the work of Krylov-Bogoliubov is developed to obtain the response of nonlinear over damped systems. A second-order system with both roots real is treated first and the method is then extended to higher-order systems. Two illustrative examples show good agreement with results obtained by numerical integration.

A new colorimetric method for the estimation of aldehyde derivatives of vitamin A is described. The assay depends upon the formation of colored derivatives of the vitamin A aldehydes by reaction with p-aminobenzoic acid or p-aminosalicylic acid in the presence of 2.0 N hydrochloric acid.

In this paper, we have studied the secondary flow induced in a micropolar fluid by the rotation of two concentric spheres about a fixed diameter. The secondary flow exhibits behaviour commonly observed in visco-elastic fluids. In particular we have obtained the expressions for microrotation vector. Numerical results have been obtained for a number of values of relative rotations of the two spheres for a chosen set of values of fluid parameters. The results are presented graphically and compared with the previous investigations.

Suitable pin-to-hole interference can significantly increase the fatigue life of a pin joint. In practical design, the initial stresses due to interference are high and they are proportional to the effective interference. In experimental studies on such joints, difficulties have been experienced in estimating the interference accurately from physical measurements of pin and hole diameters. A simple photoelastic method has been developed to determine the effective interference to a high degree of accuracy. This paper presents the method and reports illustrative data from a successful application thereof.

We present a search for associated production of the standard model (SM) Higgs boson and a $Z$ boson where the $Z$ boson decays to two leptons and the Higgs decays to a pair of $b$ quarks in $p\bar{p}$ collisions at the Fermilab Tevatron. We use event probabilities based on SM matrix elements to construct a likelihood function of the Higgs content of the data sample. In a CDF data sample corresponding to an integrated luminosity of 2.7 fb$^{-1}$ we see no evidence of a Higgs boson with a mass between 100 GeV$/c^2$ and 150 GeV$/c^2$. We set 95% confidence level (C.L.) upper limits on the cross-section for $ZH$ production as a function of the Higgs boson mass $m_H$; the limit is 8.2 times the SM prediction at $m_H = 115$ GeV$/c^2$.

An analytical method for the determination of tetra-alkylthiuram disulphides has been developed, based on the quantitative oxidation of carbon disulphide produced by acidified chloramine-T to sulphuric and formic acids. Twenty-eight equivalents of chloramine-T are required per mole of a thiuram disulphide.

The micropolar fluids like Newtonian and Non-Newtonian fluids cannot sustain a simple shearing motion, wherein only one component of velocity is present. They exhibit both primary and secondary motions when the boundaries are subject to slow rotations. The primary motion, as in Non-Newtonian fluids, characterized by the equation due to Rivlin-Ericksen, Oldroyd, Walters etc., resembles that of Newtonian fluid for slow steady rotation. We further notice that the micro-rotation becomes identically equal to the vorticity present in the fluid and the condition b) of "Wall vorticity" can alone be satisfied at the boundaries. As regards, the secondary motion, we notice that it can be determined by the above procedure for a special class of fluids, namely that for which j0(n2-n3)=4 n3/l2. Moreover for this class of fluids, the micro-rotation is identical with the vorticity of the fluid everywhere. Also the stream function for the secondary flow is identical with that for the Newtonian fluid with a suitable definition of the Reynolds number. In contrast with the Non-Newtonian fluids, characterized by the equation due to Rivlin-Ericksen, Oldroyd, Walters etc., this class of micropolar fluids does not show separation. This is in conformity with the statement of Condiff and Dahler (3) that in any steady flow, internal spin matches the vorticity everywhere provided that (i) spin boundary conditions are satisfied, (ii) body torques and non-conservative body forces are absent, and (iii) inertial and spin-inertial terms are either negligible or vanish identically.

A volumetric method for the quantitative determination of Sulphoxides has been developed, based on their oxidation to sulphones by dichromate in presence of 5 M sulphuric acid at 105–110°C. Excess dichromate is titrated by ferrous ammonium sulphate solution. The method is also applicable to the determination of Sulphoxides in metal sulphoxide complexes.

A simple method has been devised for the estimation of phloroglucinol based on the formation of an intense colored compound with a modified Ehrlich reagent in the presence of trichloroacetic acid. Some factors affecting the formation of color have been studied. 2. 2. Careful regulation of trichloroacetic acid content in the system permits its estimation in 1–15 μg in the micro range and in 10–50 μg in the macro range. Phloroglucinol lends itself to ready separation by paper chromatography and estimation after clution from paper.
