Cada período de la historia tiene sus hechos y acontecimientos relevantes que marcan el devenir de los países. Los protagonistas de estas etapas son artífices de grandes cambios en la vida de millones de personas, así como en el modo en el que el mundo se relaciona. En el tiempo presente que vivimos, China es, sin lugar a dudas, uno de los grandes referentes en la historia del s.XXI, como líder del comercio mundial, máximo inversor internacional y uno de los nuevos agentes en la gobernanza global. Los cambios que se han venido produciendo durante los últimos años en la economía china han impulsado al gigante asiático hasta la segunda posición en la clasificación de potencias mundiales, vigilando de cerca a la que hasta el momento ha sido durante décadas la gran hegemónica superpotencia mundial, Estados Unidos. Para alcanzar esta posición, los cambios en la estructura interna del país asiático han sido cuanto menos cuantiosos, y han estado en todo momento alentados por la férrea voluntad de sus máximos dirigentes políticos por posicionar a la RP China en el lugar del mundo que ellos consideran que siempre ha merecido el país como potencia. En el nuevo orden económico mundial, y de mantenerse las previsiones de crecimiento registradas durante las últimas décadas, en breve presenciaremos el hecho histórico de que el país asiático más poblado del mundo, China, con una población superior a los 1.300 millones de habitantes, y gobernado por el Partido Comunista, se convierta en la primera potencia mundial. Este evento supondrá un cambio en las palancas del liderazgo global en el marco de las relaciones internacionales al que será preciso que el resto de países desarrollados se acomoden y adapten en consecuencia...

Una de las cuestiones que más interés despierta entre los investigadores del campo de la internacionalización empresarial es la selección de la estrategia de entrada en un país extranjero. Actualmente, China es uno de los destinos que está cobrando una mayor relevancia en la expansión internacional de muchas empresas. En ese contexto, este trabajo examina la influencia de diversos factores empresariales sobre el nivel de compromiso asumido por las compañías españolas que han entrado en China a través de inversiones directas.
