Avaliação microscópica da propriedade biológica e da biocompatibilidade do osso composto e do osso integral de origem bovina

The aim of this study was to evaluate the biological properties and biocompatibility of bovine non-demineralized lyophilized and composite bones implanted in tibiae bone cavities and at the subcutaneous level. Twenty-four rats were used and sacrificed 15 and 45 days later. At the subcutaneous level, after 15 days an inflammatory reaction was seen around biomaterial particles with the presence of giant cells and at 45 days fibrous connective tissue had also developed. No signs of ectopic bone formation were observed at tibiae regions; more bone neoformation was observed at the control group (15 days) with 42.8% of the outer cortex layer against 22.6% at Orthogen and 25% at GenMix groups. At 45 days, correspondent values for bone neoformation were 62.5% at control, 26% at Orthogen, and 35% at GenMix groups, respectively. It can be concluded that both materials tested were biocompatible aiming to bone neoformation by their osteoconductive properties with no ectopic formation sites observed.

A modernização da agricultura no Brasil e a produção do biocombustível como energia alternativa: uma reflexão crítica

This article discusses the policy implications of agricultural modernization implemented by the military - after 1964. This policy, which became known as the Green Revolution, on the one hand contributed to the development of big business, but another caused serious social and environmental impacts. Currently, not only in Brazil but all over the world, have been in a great debate about the need to find alternatives to contain the problems caused to the environment resulting from the use of high technology in the field. One alternative proposed by several researchers is to replace fossil fuels by biofuels. As we believe that the error is in the current model of agricultural production based on mass production, which serves the major markets, the attention in this article, the need to develop an agricultural model designed for small property, with the use of family work and agroecology.

Análise temporal da cobertura do solo na zona de amortecimento de reserva biológica

The Municipal Biological Reserve of Serra do Japi shelters an important forest remnant of Atlantic Rainforest in the state of São Paulo. For its ecological importance, were created instruments for environmental and territorial management of the Conservation Unit, with the regulation of the use and occupation of the land in its Buffer Zone (BZ) in 2004. The objective of this study was to analyze the evolution of the land cover in the BZ region of the Municipal Biological Reserve of Serra do Japi in Jundiaí-SP, between 1989 and 2010. It was used in this study the image analysis of the satellite LANDSAT-TM5, with the help of software ILWIS and IDRISI. The results showed that urban occupation has increased 37.47% and the agro pastoral and reforestation areas have decreased 36.62% and 72.22% respectively, while forest areas have increased 49.57%. However, the relative importance of the forest area in BZ ranged from 46.60% in 1989 to 69.71% in 2010, leading to the conclusion that this region was favored by changes in land cover in the period evaluated, despite strong pressure for urban expansion in its surroundings.

A região de Registro é conhecida pelo baixo grau de desenvolvimento econômico, incluindo o setor agropecuário, o que a difere do restante do estado de São Paulo, não obstante, a região de Registro se destaca pela produção de banana. Percepção e Linguagem: Descrição de Figuras Ambíguas por Alunos Universitários da Área Biológica

Departing from a Merleau-Pontyan concept of linguistic mediation of perception, we ran a cognitive experiment, having the goal of studying how the perception of ambiguous figures is expressed in verbal linguage. Two of the figures mix biological and technological forms, while the third mixes two biological forms. We asked a group of a 120 undergraduate Biology students from State University of São Paulo (UNESP) to write about their perception of three ambiguous figures. We made an analysis of descriptive categories that appeared in the responses and used a qualitative method (Discourse of the Collective Subject) to reconstruct the main features of the linguistic expression of preceptual processes. Políticas públicas dos recursos hídricos no desenvolvimento da agricultura irrigada

O aumento da população vem demandando o aumento na produção de alimentos, em que a inserção de tecnologias no campo já alcança deste o pequeno produtor rural até os grandes latifundiários, e uma tecnologia que se destaca é a irrigação. Assim, o objetivo do trabalho foi realizar uma revisão sobre as politicas publicas dos recursos hídricos na irrigação. Em que são diversos órgãos públicos que gerenciam o uso de água pela agricultura, e vem destacando o estudo para se calcular a questão de água virtual exportada pelos países e suas consequências.
