Capacidad de uso de la tierra en la cuenca de la Corriente del Lobo, Itatinga, São Paulo, Brasil

The objective of the research was to define the classes of use capacity of 2403.25 ha in the basin of the Corriente del Lobo - Itatinga (SP), (22°03'56" to 22°59'12" of latitude S and 48°38'47" to 48°41'25" of longitude W Gr.). The soil use capacity was obtained by using the SIG IDRISI 32 crossing the documents of steepness and soils and the document of judgment of classes of soil use capacity and of the utilitarian rising of the physical milieu. The classes and subclasses areas of use capacity presented the following values: IIIa - 68.60 ha (2.85%), IIIe,s - 1919.15 ha (79.86%); IIIe - 210.60 ha (8.76%); IVe - 3.38ha (0.14%); IVe,s - 157.42 ha (6.55%) and VIe,s - 44.10 ha (1.84%). The lands of the basin were distributed in three classes (III, IV and VI) and six subclasses but the biggest extension (79.9%) belonged to the subclass IIIe,s. The modules of the IDRISI allowed to discriminate, mapping and to quantify quickly the soil use capacity of the areas of classes and subclasses in the basin.

The relationship between humans and non-human animals dates back to the Prehistoric Era, when groups of humans migrated from the nomadic and extractive stage to sedentariness, starting to develop agriculture and animal husbandry. Ancient Greek philosophy, notably the Aristotelian school of philosophy, posited that nature has not done anything for nothing, and all things have a purpose: plants were created for the sake of animals, and these for the good of men, while the Bible preaches the view that the world was created for the good of men and other species were subordinated to their wants and needs. During the Renaissance, centuries XIV to XVI, anthropocentrism was established as the main philosophical concept. However, in relation to the treatment of animals, Renaissance did not differ substantially from medieval scholasticism, considering animals like machines, devoid of pain and immortal soul. In this context, scientific knowledge about plants, non-human animals and nature in general, is built on anthropocentric values, thus influencing the construction of school education in the disciplines of Science and Biology. Nowadays, at São Paulo state schools, specifically in the Ensino Fundamental II (6th to 9th grade), the program of the discipline Ciências da Natureza e suas Tecnologias is set by the Currículo Oficial do Estado de São Paulo, via the São Paulo Faz Escola Program, implemented by the Secretaria Estadual de Educação in 2010. This documentary research used the methodology of Content Analysis and aimed to analyze the presentation of non-human animals in Caderno do Professor and Caderno do Aluno, from 6th to 9th grades of the discipline Ciências da Natureza e suas Tecnologias. Sistema autônomo de iluminação utilizando energia solar

This work presents a self-sustainable lighting system using ultracapacitor as a storage device, replacing the conventional battery, using solar energy as the only energy supplier. A detailed study of solar panels, switched mode converters and ultracapacitors was made, in order to design a circuit capable of capturing solar energy and transfer it efficiently to a bank of ultracapacitors. Later, at nighttime, this energy is used for lighting in LED luminaires which have high luminous efficiency and high reliability index. This work presents the design of the solar panel, ultracapacitors bank, the development of the voltage converter circuit and charger working at the maximum power point of the solar panel. All subsystems were simulated and it was shown that the use of ultracapacitors is feasible to feed a LED lamp with enough brightness for a person to walk at night, for two night shifts, using a capacitive bank with twenty-four ultracapacitors. Replacing the battery by an ultracapacitor allows a faster recharge, with low maintenance costs, since ultracapacitors have a lifetime bigger than batteries; beyond reducing the environmental impact, as they don't use potentially toxic chemical compounds

A genealogia em Foucault: uma trajetória

Este artigo tem o objetivo de realizar uma trajetória da genealogia enquanto modo de escrever a história como pergunta/problema, de acordo com Michel Foucault, rompendo com uma história contínua, linear, teleológica, que buscava origens e semelhanças entre os objetos e as tentativas de estabelecer relações causais entre os acontecimentos. Uma história das práticas discursivas, de poder e subjetivação era a empreitada proposta por Foucault. A análise da proveniência e da emergência rompia com toda uma tradição historiográfica que fazia dos eventos memória e monumentos construídos e interpretados por categorias de semelhança. Foucault questiona este modelo de fazer história, trabalhando com novos temas e problemas e operando com a multiplicidade de acontecimentos dispersos, raros, heterogêneos, em recortes de séries de enunciados em arquivos, sem busca de origens primeiras e sem fins utilitaristas a alcançar.

Resumo: O presente estudo procura analisar sob as lentes da antropologia, a forma como as lideranças religiosas Mbya, cumprem os sonhos recebidos de Nhanderú Ete, iniciando a caminhada em direção a terra sem mal, a yvy marãe‟y; retornam ao local de ocupação antiga ou a indicada por Nhanderú, terra com a qual mantém laços históricos de luta. Os conflitos se intensificam com a demarcação/ampliação dos territórios ou de terra para o Guarani Mbya, como no caso do Pará, que andaram por cerca de cem anos até encontrar a terra onde exercitar o modo correto de se viver; o dissenso potencializa o etnocentrismo, a discriminação, o racismo, o estigma de ser índio, bugre, preguiçoso, alcoólatra, “raça inferior”. A pesquisa versa sobre o modo como "escolhem”, “adotam,” “retomam,” ressignificam, reterritorializam, guaranizam a terra onde pausaram a caminhada.

Review of Prairie Time: A Blackland Portrait by Matt White

Nowadays, the Blackland Prairies of north Texas are the kind of landscape most people think of as great for subdivisions and strip malls: generally flat, easily bulldozed, and not too far from Dallas-Fort Worth. Prairie Time: A Blackland Portrait traces a similar utilitarian vision of the prairie in 19th-century pioneer descriptions as well: good for plowing, grazing, and-once the buffalo and Native Americans are exterminated-not too far from outposts of commerce. The book serves as an environmental jeremiad for a place too easily seen as useful and thus too often ignored for preservation. Matt White gives readers a context in which to begin to value the Blackland Prairie by combining a heartfelt story with a thorough sense of its ecological wonder, our post-settlement history and its environmental impact on the land, and some remarkable stories of current preservationists working to find and save remnant gems of unplowed prairie.
