The Transportation Facilities Manual provides a system of identifying and coding existing streets and highways and of recording data pertaining to these facilities. This manual is part 1 and together with the other two documents may be used in connection with the preparation of comprehensive and special planning an urban research studies of all kinds. Particular emphasis was placed on the updating of collected information so that basic inventories pertaining to the planning process can be kept current without undue effort or cost.

A treatment planning method for sequentially combining radiopharmaceutical therapy and external radiation therapy.

PURPOSE: Effective cancer treatment generally requires combination therapy. The combination of external beam therapy (XRT) with radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) requires accurate three-dimensional dose calculations to avoid toxicity and evaluate efficacy. We have developed and tested a treatment planning method, using the patient-specific three-dimensional dosimetry package 3D-RD, for sequentially combined RPT/XRT therapy designed to limit toxicity to organs at risk. METHODS AND MATERIALS: The biologic effective dose (BED) was used to translate voxelized RPT absorbed dose (D(RPT)) values into a normalized total dose (or equivalent 2-Gy-fraction XRT absorbed dose), NTD(RPT) map. The BED was calculated numerically using an algorithmic approach, which enabled a more accurate calculation of BED and NTD(RPT). A treatment plan from the combined Samarium-153 and external beam was designed that would deliver a tumoricidal dose while delivering no more than 50 Gy of NTD(sum) to the spinal cord of a patient with a paraspinal tumor. RESULTS: The average voxel NTD(RPT) to tumor from RPT was 22.6 Gy (range, 1-85 Gy); the maximum spinal cord voxel NTD(RPT) from RPT was 6.8 Gy. The combined therapy NTD(sum) to tumor was 71.5 Gy (range, 40-135 Gy) for a maximum voxel spinal cord NTD(sum) equal to the maximum tolerated dose of 50 Gy. CONCLUSIONS: A method that enables real-time treatment planning of combined RPT-XRT has been developed. By implementing a more generalized conversion between the dose values from the two modalities and an activity-based treatment of partial volume effects, the reliability of combination therapy treatment planning has been expanded.

Estratègies d'adaptació al canvi climàtic a la Costa Brava: una reflexió teòrica sobre la relació amb el rejoveniment de les destinacions madures

Aquesta Master Tesi té per objecte investigar la relació entre el canvi climàtic i el desenvolupament de destinacions turístiques madures. En concret, es pretén avançar en el coneixement que es té sobre: 1) com afectarà el canvi climàtic a les destinacions madures; 2) quines mesures s’estan prenent per a fer-hi front des de l’àmbit públic; i 3) en quina mesura la lluita contra el canvi climàtic pot alinear-se al costat dels processos de rejoveniment de les destinacions, de forma que ambdós es retroalimentin i generin sinèrgies positives perquè les destinacions turístiques les aprofitin per esdevenir més sostenibles i, a la vegada, es projectin cap al futur resultant més atractives. Per contrastar els avenços teòrics a nivell pràctic, s’ha decidit delimitar l’àrea geogràfica de la Costa Brava (Catalunya, Espanya) per tal de formular un estudi de cas, que consisteix en l’anàlisi de les Agendes 21 locals dels municipis de litoral. Aquesta anàlisi ha permès extreure conclusions que, si bé encara s’han de considerar a nivell prospectiu i les quals caldrà que siguin revalidades per la comunitat científica, igualment s’han de considerar valuoses per la seva aportació en les teories de gestió de destinacions turístiques i d’estratègies per fer front del canvi climàtic

Resum en anglès del projecte de recerca L'empresa xarxa a Catalunya. TIC, productivitat, competitivitat, salaris i beneficis a l'empresa catalana té com a objectiu principal constatar que la consolidació d'un nou model estratègic, organitzatiu i d'activitat empresarial, vinculat amb la inversió i l'ús de les TIC (o empresa xarxa), modifica substancialment els patrons de comportament dels resultats empresarials, en especial la productivitat, la competitivitat, les retribucions dels treballadors i el benefici. La contrastació empírica de les hipòtesis de treball l'hem feta per mitjà de les dades d'una enquesta a una mostra representativa de 2.038 empreses catalanes. Amb la perspectiva de l'impacte de la inversió i l'ús de les TIC no s'aprecia una relació directa entre els processos d'innovació digital i els resultats de l'activitat de l'empresa catalana. En aquest sentit, hem hagut de segmentar el teixit productiu català per a buscar les organitzacions en què el procés de coinnovació tecnològica digital i organitzativa és més present i en què la intensitat de l'ús del coneixement és un recurs molt freqüent per a poder copsar impactes rellevants en els principals resultats empresarials. Això és així perquè l'economia catalana, avui, presenta una estructura productiva dual.
