Lago Pellegrini. Caracteristicas limnologicas

Este trabajo trata el estudio biol��gico del lago Pellegrini y las caracter��sticas limnol��gicas del ambiente desde el punto de vista pesquero y tur��stico en el lapso 1980-1998. Se realizaron monitoreos quincenales de calidad de agua y mensuales de plancton, plaguicidas, bacteriol��gicos, etc. en estaciones de muestreo situadas en el lago propiamente dicho, en el afluente y alrededores. Se analizan los problemas de eutrofizaci��n presentes, en la b��squeda de ensayos que disminuyan el deterioro del ecosistema. Los resultados comprueban un proceso de eutrofizaci��n natural, agravado por la actividad humana, con florecimientos de algas cianobacterias (G��neros Microcystis y Anabaena) y una disminuci��n de la productividad secundaria y en la poblaci��n ��ctica.

Efectos de la eutrofizacion sobre la pesca en el lago Pellegrini.

Por los problemas ocasionados en el deterioro del lago, en la pesca comercial y deportiva, se plante�� como objetivo el estudio de las caracter��sticas limnol��gicas del ambiente relacionando la situaci��n actual con la de a��os anteriores y adem��s con los aportes ex��genos que recibe el ecosistema. Se realizaron monitoreos de calidad f��sico-qu��mica del agua, nutrientes y plancton del lago y su influencia sobre el recurso pesquero, relacionando las capturas reales con los altos rendimientos pesqueros te��ricos determinados en base a par��metros qu��micos, biol��gicos y morfoed��ficos. Los resultados comprueban una disminuci��n de la productividad secundaria y la poblaci��n de peces, entre otros problemas de eutrofizaci��n. Se estudian distintas posibilidades para revertir esta tendencia del lago y recuperar e impulsar la pesquer��a comercial y deportiva.

Biolog��a pesquera de las lagunas Encadenadas del Sudoeste, provincia de Buenos Aires.

El objetivo es definir las variables biol��gicas del pejerrey (Odonthesthes bonariensis)de las lagunas del sistema para detectar el posible impacto de las obras hidra��licas proyectadas en la regi��n y evaluar las caracter��sticas de transici��n del ��rea estudiada desde el punto de vista de la composici��n ictiofaun��stica. El presente art��culo es una reedici��n del generado por el Departamento Cient��fico Zoolog��a Vertebrados (actual Divisi��n Zoolog��a Vertebrados), FCNyM, UNLP, en noviembre de 1993. El anexo 7.1-Fotograf��as fue omitido debido a la mala calidad de las im��genes.

Consideraciones sobre las percas (Percichthys colhuapiensis y P.trucha) de la Patagonia norte - A��os 1955 a 1957. Comparaciones con material de a��os recientes.

Este trabajo se basa en los muestreos sobre las percas (Percichthys sp) realizado entre los a��os 1955 a 1957 por Mar��a Luisa Fuster de Plaza y Enrique E. Boschi, ambos investigadores se desempa��aban en el Departamento de Investigaciones Pesqueras de la Direcci��n Nacional de Pesca, dependiente del Ministerio de Agricultura y Ganader��a de la Naci��n de entonces. Las tareas se llevaron a cabo principalmente en varios cuerpos de agua l��ntica y l��ticas de la regi��n de la Patagonia Norte (Provincias de R��o Negro, Neuquen y Chubut), y en la provincia de Mendoza. Consisten en datos morfom��tricos, desarrollo gonadal, fecundidad, contenidos alimenticios, planillas, dibujos, etc. de 80 ejemplares de percas. La autora tuvo a su cargo el an��lisis de los datos de esos muestreos y las comparaciones con estudios de material m��s reciente, correspondiente al lago Pellegrini, a partir de 1981.

Asociaci��n Argentina de Limnolog��a (AAL)

Este a��o se cumplieron veinticinco a��os de la creaci��n de la Asociaci��n Argentina de Limnolog��a. En 1984, en la vieja aula magna de la Facultad de Ciencias Naturales y Museo (en esa ��poca esta unidad acad��mica funcionaba en las instalaciones del Museo de La Plata) un conjunto de mujeres y hombres relacionados con esta disciplina concretaban ese ansiado anhelo aprobando los fundamentos de su formaci��n y eligiendo su primer comisi��n directiva. Los a��os siguientes fueron de gran impulso concretando la realizaci��n de talleres reuniones, ediciones de boletines y una gran comunicaci��n entre sus asociados. En 1991 se realiza la primer reuni��n internacional en la ciudad de La Plata con gran repercusi��n y convocatoria, posteriormente se hacen los congresos de 1994 y 1998 en la ciudades de Tucum��n y Buenos Aires respectivamente. A partir de esta fecha comienza a diluirse la actividad de la asociaci��n para desaparecer en los primeros a��os del presente siglo. No obstante, ya sin el marco de la asociaci��n, se realizan congresos en 2004 y 2008, en las ciudades de Chascom��s y San Carlos de Bariloche respectivamente, con singular ��xito. Este archivo es una peque��a muestra de algo que uni�� a un grupo de profesionales con un objetivo com��n: el desarrollo y proyecci��n regional de esta disciplina. A simple vista lo podr��amos calificar de un nuevo fracaso, ya que tuvo el mismo fin de la ALOA (Asociaci��n Limnol��gica y Oceanogr��fica Argentina), pero no ser��a totalmente cierto, ya que la magnitud de las ��ltimas reuniones nos indica que el crecimiento de esta ciencia es importante. Por ello, me parece adecuado que dejemos a un soci��logo y un historiador de la ciencia la interpretaci��n de este fragmento de la rica historia del ���limnobios��� en nuestro pa��s.

Fishery dynamics and present status of the yellowfin tuna population of the Eastern Pacific Ocean

ENGLISH: From morphometric data, tagging results and reaction of the stock to fishing, it is inferred that the yellowfin tuna of the Eastern Pacific form a distinct population which intermingles little, if at all, with populations to the westward. Excellent statistics of catch and effort, and records of total catch, available since 1934, during rapid growth of the fishery, have made possible application of a generalized mathematical predator-prey model to estimate the effect of fishing on the population, and the average abundance and yield corresponding to different amounts of fishing effort, and also to estimate the rate of fishing mortality per unit of effort. From serial samples of size composition of catches, and from tagging experiments, it has been possible to determine rates of growth and of total mortality. These kinds of information permit application of the catch-per-recruit model of Beverton and Holt. Combination of the results of application of the Beverton and Holt model and of the generalized predator-prey model, leads to inference of the relationship between stock size and recruitment. The form of the relationship is remarkably similar to the theoretical model developed by W. E. Ricker. These studies, based on the data of the near-surface fishery by baitboats and purse seiners, indicate clearly that the increased intensity of fishing has caused diminution of the stocks to the point where they are somewhat "overfished"-that is, incapable of supporting the maximum sustainable average harvest. SPANISH: De los datos morfom��tricos, de los resultados de las marcaciones y de la reacci��n del stock a la pesca, se infiere que el at��n aleta amarilla del Pac��fico oriental forma una poblaci��n diferente que se mezcla poco, si es que llega a mezclarse, con las poblaciones del oeste. Las excelentes estad��sticas de la captura y el esfuerzo y los registros de la pesca global disponibles desde 1934, durante el r��pido crecimiento de la pesquer��a, han hecho posible la aplicaci��n de un modelo matem��tico generalizado depredador-presa para estimar el efecto de la pesca en la poblaci��n y el promedio de la abundancia y del rendimiento correspondientes a los diferentes valores del esfuerzo de pesca, y tambi��n para estimar la tasa de la mortalidad de pesca por unidad de esfuerzo. Gracias a las muestras en serie de la composici��n de tama��os de las capturas y a los experimentos de marcaci��n, ha sido posible determinar las tasas del crecimiento y de la mortalidad total. Estos tipos de informaci��n permiten la aplicaci��n del modelo de la captura-porrecluta de Beverton y Holt. La combinaci��n de los resultados de la aplicaci��n del modelo de Beverton y Holt y del modelo generalizado depredador-presa, conduce a la inferencia de la relaci��n entre el tama��o del stock y el reclutamiento. La forma de la relaci��n es notoriamente similar al modelo te��rico desarrollado por W. E. Ricker. Estos estudios, basados en los datos de la pesquer��a cerca de la superficie efectuada por barcos de carnada y rederos, indican claramente que el aumento de la intensidad de la pesca ha causado la disminuci��n de los stocks hasta el punto de dejarlos algo "superexplotados", o sea, incapacitados para mantener una producci��n m��xima promedio.
