Key Findings • Based on body mass index (BMI) measurements, 36% of Irish over 50s are obese and a further 43% are overweight. • Based on waist circumference measurements, 52% of Irish over 50s are ‘centrally obese’, i.e., with a ‘substantially increased’ waist circumference, while a further 25% have an ‘increased’ waist circumference. • Using BMI as an indicator of obesity, a higher proportion of men (38%) are obese than women (33%); however, using waist circumference as an indicator of obesity, a higher proportion of women (56%) have a ‘substantially increased’ waist circumference than men (48%). • The prevalence of obesity in Irish men over 50 is comparable with US men over 50 (while English rates are much lower). Extensió per gvSIG anomenada extWPS, que permet executar processos a través de Web Processing Service (wps), el protocol promogut per l'Open Geospatial Consortium (OGC). El programari, elaborat en Java, es basa en el conjunt de llibreries de la iniciativa 52north i té llicència GPL. Fa possible, una vegada instal lat sobre gvSIG, connectar-se a un servidor wps, veure els geoprocesos disponibles a ell i executar de manera remota.

This report provides, for the first time, a snapshot of the meals-on-wheels service in Ireland and gives a unique insight into client and provider perceptions of the service. The research findings underline the dual importance of the service for clients, who noted that it is a vital source of both nutritious meals and social contact and connectivity to the wider community. From a supply side perspective, the research findings point to the wide organisational diversity that exists within the service and the critical role that volunteers play, as well as highlighting difficulties that many services currently experience.

Dans le cadre de la politique multiculturelle de protection des minorités menée par le gouvernement taïwanais, le Comité ministériel aux affaires hakka (keweihui) a planifié dix-huit « halls culturels hakkas » dans chaque comté et municipalité. L'article retrace le processus de création d'un de ces halls, dans le nord de l'île de Taiwan, au cours de la décennie 2000. L'aménagement du hall procède à l'incorporation d'artistes locaux dans une tradition nationale hakka réinventée. Il est montré comment sa genèse s'est produite à l'intersection d'une politique impulsée par « le haut » et d'un projet émanant d'acteurs locaux. L'article met en évidence comment les catégories yingti (hardware) et ruanti (software) président à sa fabrication et impliquent une opposition et une complémentarité entre « contenant » et « contenu », entre « État » et « société », qui agissent à toutes les étapes de sa mise en oeuvre.

El present projecte se centrarà en l'aplicació dels SIG a la prevenció dels incendis forestals a Catalunya. En concret en la localització de zones òptimes per a la instal lació de tallafocs, mitjançant la utilització dels programes lliures gvSIG i Sextant, a més de la base de dades (BDD) espacial PostgreeSQL / PostGIS.

This section uses the Children and Adolescent Mental Health Services mapping exercise set up in 2002, currently data is being collected for the 2005 exercise. This mapping is carried out on an annual basis collecting data on the specialist CAMH tier 2-4 services. Tier 1 is cover by professionals such as GPs and school nurses whereas tier 4 are highly specialised tertiary level services, tiers 2 and 3 cover the spectrum in between. The purpose of the mapping is to contribute towards the improvement of mental health services for children and adolescents by informing and supporting the implementation of the Children's Nation Service Framework.

The project objectives were to: - Review the current situation for the population of the East Midlands, across the Tier 4 services and for young people in Out of Area Placements. - Examine current commissioning arrangements across the region and across the agencies of health, social care and education. - Consider the development of a shared framework within which future Tier 4 services could be planned and delivered. - Identify care pathways across the continuum of CAMHS services and highlight any gaps within CAMHS Tier 4 provision.

S'inclou en l'aplicació tant la part pública o frontend, consistent en la part accessible al públic, on s'efectuen els actes de negoci amb usuaris externs al sistema, com la part privada o back-end, destinada a les tasques de mantenimentper a l'administrador de la botiga.

There has been growing concern that the quality of public services can be affected by the nature and scale of problems in deprived neighbourhoods and that poor services can contribute to a widening gap۪ between deprived and non-deprived neighbourhoods. There is also an increased emphasis within national policy on the quality of neighbourhood environments the so-called liveability۪ agenda. This report explores the challenges of delivering street scene۪ environmental services such as street sweeping and refuse collection in deprived and less deprived areas and examines the gap in environmental amenity between these different neighbourhoods. It also contributes to our understanding of the interplay between poor services and neighbourhood decline. The research involved a telephone survey of chief officers in local authority environmental service departments across the UK and detailed case studies of policy and practice in environmental service provision in four local authorities with significant levels of deprivation. Each case study involved work in three neighbourhoods within the authority two deprived and one less deprived as well as focus groups with residents and frontline environmental operatives, interviews with senior council staff and observation on the ground
