OntoSDM: an approach to improve quality on spatial data mining algorithms

The increase in new electronic devices had generated a considerable increase in obtaining spatial data information; hence these data are becoming more and more widely used. As well as for conventional data, spatial data need to be analyzed so interesting information can be retrieved from them. Therefore, data clustering techniques can be used to extract clusters of a set of spatial data. However, current approaches do not consider the implicit semantics that exist between a region and an object’s attributes. This paper presents an approach that enhances spatial data mining process, so they can use the semantic that exists within a region. A framework was developed, OntoSDM, which enables spatial data mining algorithms to communicate with ontologies in order to enhance the algorithm’s result. The experiments demonstrated a semantically improved result, generating more interesting clusters, therefore reducing manual analysis work of an expert.

Mapas interactivos como plataformas informativas para ciudadanos desconectados

The newspaper is a communication channel for the society in general, but now, with the new media, some citizens are unplugged of the information because they are not concerned on the Internet language. For these citizens, the interactive maps is an option, because it adopts playful language in the communication process. This article presents a study about interface and interactive maps for Unplugged citizen. The adopted method is quantitative and qualitative research about six existent maps in web newspaper on three countries: United States, Brazil and Spain. The results present information about interfaces, information’s and communication processes in these study objects.

Desempenho agronômico e produtivo de cultivares de soja em diferentes ciclos e safras

With the objective of gathering technical data about soybean cultivars performance in Botucatu, state of São Paulo, Brazil, an experiment was conducted to evaluate seventeen genotypes. The experiment was conducted during the Summer seasons of 2002/03, 2003/04, and 2004/05. The experiment was set in the field according to a complete block design with four repetitions. The soybean cultivars were ‘Embrapa 48’, ‘BRS 132’. ‘BRS 183’, ‘BRS 212’, ‘IAC 22’, and ‘IAC 23’ (early cycled varieties), ‘BRS 133’, ‘BRS 154’, ‘BRS 156’, ‘BRS 184’, ‘BRS 214’, ‘IAC 18’, and ‘IAC 24’ ( semi early varieties), and ‘BRS 134’, ‘BRS 215’, ‘IAC 8.2’, and ‘IAC 19’ (medium cycled varieties ). All the varieties, during the three cropping years, showed adequate plant height and first pod height of insertion for mechanical harvest. Among the production components, mass of 100 grains showed the highest variability. Cultivar ‘BRS 154’ (medium cycle) showed the highest variation in mass of 100 grains and was also the highest yielding variety in the cropping year of 2004/05. The majority of the cultivars yielded above 3,000 kg ha -1 during the cropping years of 2002/03 and 2004/05. The best yielding performance during the three cropping years were displayed by cultivars ‘IAC 22’ (early cycle), ‘BRS 133’ and ‘BRS 156’ ( both semi early cycled varieties).

Avaliação enzimática na pós-colheita do maná cubiu tratados com radiação gama

The objective of this study was to evaluate the effects of gamma radiation on fruit quality and conservation of mana cubiu through its enzymatic characteristics, with 20 days of storage and 5 taken every 4 days. The fruits selected were subjected to different doses of gamma radiation Co60 (0.0; 0.2; 0.4; 0.6 and 0.8 kGy) packaged in trays of expanded polyethylene then covered with stretchable PVC film associated with refrigerated stored at 10 ± 3°C e 85 ± 5% de UR and evaluated in six periods (0, 4, 8, 12, 16 e 20 days). The variables evaluated were: enzymatic activity of pectin (PME), polygalacturonase (PG), polyphenoloxidase (PPO) and peroxidase (POD). For PG there was no interaction between dose and storage on the day 16 the highest value to 640.10 UE min-1 g-1 and 0.8 kGy dose showed the lowest with 376.37 10 UE min-1 g-1. PME now get in 16 days and 0.8 kGy dose the highest values of the experiment, to 290.74 UE min-1 g-1. In POF, the day 16 presented the value of 0.26 min-1 g-1 of dry mass-1. In 20 days the fruits of all treatments provided the highest values of POD during the experiment. The results showed that different doses of gamma radiation does not interfere with the activity of the enzymes determined in this experiment.

Inventário de vespas sociais (Hymenoptera, Vespidae) e comparação da eficiência de armadilhas atrativas em diferentes estratos vegetais na Floresta Estadual Edmundo Navarro de Andrade, Rio Claro, SP

Hymenoptera é uma das maiores ordens de insetos, com mais de 130 mil espécies descritas. Dentre as principais famílias destacam-se: Formicidae, Apidae e Vespidae, sendo que a última inclui a grande diversidade de vespas sociais presentes no Brasil. Este grupo tem grande importância no controle biológico de outras populações, como predadores ou controladores de pragas agrícolas, além de serem visitantes florais e polinizadores ocasionais. Sendo assim, o presente estudo consiste em um inventário das vespas sociais da Floresta Estadual Edmundo Navarro de Andrade (FEENA) em Rio Claro, SP, que possibilitou a comparação entre diferentes métodos de coleta empregados na captura de vespas sociais (coleta ativa e armadilhas atrativas em diferentes estratos na vegetação) e a comparação da fauna atual com um inventário realizado a mais de 30 anos na mesma localidade. Os dados foram coletados em diferentes estratos da vegetação utilizando armadilhas de garrafa PET contendo líquido atrativo (uma próximo ao solo, outra a 1,5 m de altura e a outra acima de 3 m na copa das árvores), e através de técnicas de coletas ativa com auxílio de redes entomológicas. Foram realizadas quatro coletas no decorrer de um ano, uma em cada estação. A riqueza das espécies do atual inventário foi comparada com a de Rodrigues & Machado (1982) e observou-se uma diminuição do número de espécies ao longo dos anos, de 32 para 21, sendo que 17 espécies foram amostradas em ambos os inventários. Dentre as armadilhas atrativas, houve diferença entre os estratos, sendo que as armadilhas de dossel mostraram ser de grande importância, pois capturaram 41,8% dos indivíduos e ainda apresentaram quatro espécies capturadas exclusivamente neste estrato. Alimentador automático para animais utilizando Arduino

This paper presents a Project of an automatic feeder for pets using an Arduino Uno as the control center. Through studies on this driver was possible to create a device with an interface capable to receiving user input and then use it to activate the feeder in the defined hours. For mounting equipment were used steps motors, sensors, keyboard and display, which work together to instrument operation. The project goal was reached and the prototype developed indicating that the Arduino can be used for various applications that can simplify daily tasks

It is discussed industry development, industrial processes automation, tyre-recycling process, advantages of tyre reuse for preservation of the environment and probable gains from the automation of part of the tyre-recycling process. In this text, it is detailed the work done to configure, program and optimize the truing process through automation components as CNC, PLC and drives. Tests and simulations are performed to determine the payback necessary period in productivity and profit gains

This monograph presents the main objective of analyzing the redundancy protection systems of protection for redundancy and block of energies against accident in presses and rotating equipment. After understanding two specific goals, on this case, show the systems of protection against accidents in rotating equipments, presses and similar; and discuss the vulnerabilities of current systems of protection against accidents in presses and similar, we will propose a system of autonomous redundancy of Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) operating simultaneously taking online in the event of failure of one of the two. The methodology was worked through a revision of a variety of bibliography, and interpretation of national and international standards as well as access to research on systems, practices used in industrial and companies supplying products and of companies and energy blockages solutions
