Apresenta duas grandes áreas de aplicação da termodinâmica: refrigeração e geração de potência. Cita como funcionam máquinas térmicas de combustão externa e interna. Relembra o ciclo de Carnot, eficiente para transformar calor em trabalho e apresenta o ciclo de Rankine, que se aproxima do ciclo de Carnot, porém suas turbinas são projetadas com a umidade formada na expansão do vapor saturado sendo removida no processo, evitando erosões. Apresenta o ciclo de Rankine com aquecimento, que se aproxima mais ao ciclo de Carnot. Apresenta o ciclo de refrigeração de Rankine, com a expressão de cálculo de coeficiente de desempenho. Apresenta dispositivos a gás de um único passe, como motor de gasolina ideal, funcionando como o ciclo Otto. Apresenta o ciclo Diesel, de motor diesel ideal, comparando com o ciclo Otto. Apresenta a turbina a gás, ciclo de Brayton ou Joule.

Na análise funcional de imagens do cérebro podem utilizar-se diferentes métodos na identificação de zonas de activação. Tem havido uma evolução desde o método de correlação [19], para outros métodos [9] [14] até o método baseado no modelo linear generalizado que é mais comum ser utilizado hoje e que levou ao pacote de software SPM [15]. Deve-se principalmente à versatilidade que o método tem em realizar testes com diferentes objectivos. Têm sido publicados alguns estudos comparativos. Poucos têm sido quantitativos [20] e quando o são, o número de métodos testados é reduzido[22]. Há muitos estudos comparativos do ponto de vista da estatística envolvida (da matemática) mas que têm em geral apenas ns académicos. Um objectivo deste estudo é comparar os resultados obtidos por diferentes métodos. É de particular interesse averiguar o comportamento de cada método na fronteira do local de activação. As diferenças serão avaliadas numericamente para os seguintes métodos clássicos: t de Student, coeficiente de correlação e o modelo linear generalizado. Três novos métodos são também propostos - o método de picos de Fourier, o método de sobreposição e o método de amplitude. O segundo pode ser aplicado para o melhoramento dos métodos de t de Student, coe ciente de correlação e modelo linear generalizado. Ele pode no entanto, também manter-se como um método de análise independente. A influência exercida em cada método pelos parâmetros pertinentes é também medida. É adoptado um conjunto de dados clínicos que está amplamente estudado e documentado. Desta forma elimina-se a possibilidade dos resultados obtidos serem interpretados como sendo específicos do caso em estudo. Há situações em que a influência do método utilizado na identificação das áreas de activação de imagens funcionais do cérebro é crucial. Tal acontece, por exemplo, quando um tumor desenvolve-se perto de uma zona de activação responsável por uma função importante . Para o cirurgião tornase indispensável avaliar se existe alguma sobreposição. A escolha de um dos métodos disponíveis poderá ter infuência sobre a decisão final. Se o método escolhido for mais conservador, pode verificar-se sobreposição e eliminar-se a possibilidade de cirurgia. Porém, se o método for mais restritivo a decisão final pode ser favorável à cirurgia. Artigos recentes têm suportado a ideia de que a ressonância magnética funcional é de facto muito útil no processo de decisão pré-operatório [12].O segundo objectivo do estudo é então avaliar a sobreposição entre um volume de activação e o volume do tumor. Os programas informáticos de análise funcional disponíveis são variados em vários aspectos: na plataforma em que funcionam (macintosh, linux, windows ou outras), na linguagem em que foram desenvolvidos (e.g. c+motif, c+matlab, matlab, etc.) no tratamento inicial dos dados (antes da aplicação do método de análise), no formato das imagens e no(s) método(s) de análise escolhido(s). Este facto di culta qualquer tentativa de comparação. À partida esta poderá apenas ser qualitativa. Uma comparação quantitativa implicaria a necessidade de ocorrerem três factos: o utilizador tem acesso ao código do programa, sabe programar nas diferentes linguagens e tem licença de utilização de software comercial (e.g. matlab). Sendo assim foi decidido adoptar uma estratégia unificadora. Ou seja, criar um novo programa desenvolvido numa linguagem independente da plataforma, que não utilize software comercial e que permita aplicar (e comparar quantitativamente) diferentes métodos de análise funcional. A linguagem escolhida foi o JAVA. O programa desenvolvido no âmbito desta tese chama-se Cérebro.

As quedas são um problema comum e devastador entre os idosos, causando um enorme número de situações de morbilidade, mortalidade e necessidade de recorrer a cuidados de saúde. As maiorias das quedas em idosos relacionam-se com um ou mais fatores de risco. A investigação tem demonstrado que ter em atenção a estes fatores poderá reduzir significativamente as quedas. Verifica-se anualmente um grande afluxo de idosos ao Serviço de Fisioterapia do SESARAM, E.P.E. devido a sequelas de quedas. O presente estudo, inserido no Método Quantitativo – Correlacional, Tranversal, teve como objetivo avaliar o risco de quedas em idosos que frequentaram o Serviço de Fisioterapia do SESARAM, E.P.E. entre o 2.º e o 3.º trimestre de 2011 e correlacionar os vários fatores de risco que contribuíram para as mesmas. Foi selecionada uma amostra não probabilística, de idosos com mais de 65 anos (n=75) à qual foi aplicado um questionário sobre fatores de risco para as quedas e a Escala de Equilíbrio de Berg (EEB), a Escala de Atividades de Vida Diária de Katz e a Escala de Atividades Instrumentais de Vida Diárias de Lawton & Brody (AIVD), a Escala de Tinetti (Risco de Quedas) e o Teste de Levantar e Sentar em 30 segundos. Resultados: Cerca de 93% dos idosos sofreram quedas nos últimos 6 meses das quais 48% resultaram numa fratura. As mulheres caíram mais do que os homens (M=21 DP=3,5) e os idosos mais jovens que apresentavam maior risco de quedas. Cerca de 52% dos idosos praticam atividade física. Os idosos da amostra possuíam força muscular dos membros inferiores baixa (M=6,97), com um risco de quedas moderado (M=20,8 DP=3,8) e eram moderadamente dependentes (M=18,5, DP=3,9) nas AIVD. Conclusões: Os idosos com mais força muscular apresentavam menor risco de queda pois o coeficiente de correlação foi positivo e significativo e do mesmo modo aqueles que apresentam mais força muscular estão associados a valores elevados de equilíbrio e menores nas AIVD. Face a estes resultados do estudo justiça-se, a presença de uma equipa multidisciplinar, com vista a diminuir os fatores de risco para as quedas e fomentando estratégias de equilíbrio/força. Com a intervenção desta equipa, os idosos poderão manter-se mais independentes e com melhor qualidade de vida.

O trabalho tem por objetivo principal estudar a utilização de aerogeradores para microprodução de energia (menor que 1 W) de forma a poderem alimentar os nós das redes de sensores sem fios. Para tal, analisaram-se dois tipos de aerogeradores, os de eixo vertical e os de eixo horizontal, tendo-se efetuado simulações de CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics) para verificar o desempenho das turbinas, de forma a determinar qual é o mais adequado. Foi realizado o projeto dos dois sistemas e analisou-se em particular as turbinas, os geradores e os conversores de potência de forma a avaliar o desempenho. Efetuaram-se simulações para determinar o comportamento esperado e posteriormente realizaram-se as medições experimentais num túnel de vento, tendo-se concluído que, para a dimensão dos aerogeradores desenvolvidos, o sistema vertical produz mais potência que o de eixo horizontal para velocidades de vento inferiores a 4,5 m/s e tem a grande vantagem de não ser significativamente afetado pela turbulência do vento. No entanto, o sistema de eixo horizontal é sempre mais eficiente para qualquer velocidade de vento, devido ao seu coeficiente de potência ser sempre superior ao do sistema vertical. Também se comparou o desempenho do conversor DC-DC redutor-elevador inversor com o elevador tendo-se determinado que o segundo apresenta melhor desempenho, na gama de valores de tensão utilizados no trabalho. Por fim implementaram-se os sistemas em ambiente real de forma a verificar como se comportam quando estão expostos aos elementos com a velocidade e a direção do vento a variar. Concluiu-se que mesmo com ventos fracos a potência produzida é suficiente para carregar uma bateria de 3,6 V (tensão nominal) e alimentar a carga, pelo que o uso de energia eólica é uma boa alternativa à energia fotovoltaica.

This research is part of the field of organizational studies, focusing on organizational purchase behavior and, specifically, trust interorganizational at the purchases. This topic is current and relevant by addressing the development of good relations between buyer-supplier that increases the exchange of information, increases the length of relationship, reduces the hierarchical controls and improves performance. Furthermore, although there is a vast literature on trust, the scientific work that deal specifically at the trust interorganizational still need further research to synthesize and validate the variables that generate this phenomenon. In this sense, this investigation is to explain the antecedents of trust interorganizational by the relationship between the variable operational performance, organizational characteristics, shared values and interpersonal relationships on purchases by manufacturing industries, in order to develop a robust literature, most consensual, that includes the current sociological and economic, considering the effect of interpersonal relationships in this phenomenon. This proposal is configured in a new vision of the antecedents of interorganizational trust, described as significant quantitative from models Morgan and Hunt (1994), Doney and Cannon (1997), Zhao and Cavusgil (2006) and Nyaga, Whipple, Lynch (2011), as well as qualitative analysis of Tacconi et al. (2011). With regard to methodological aspects, the study assumes the form of a descriptive, survey type, and causal trace theoretical and empirical. As for his nature, the investigation, explicative character, has developed a quantitative approach with the use of exploratory factor analysis and structural equation modeling SEM, with the use of IBM software SPSS Amos 18.0, using the method of maximum verisimilitude, and supported by technical bootstraping. The unit of analysis was the buyer-supplier relationship, in which the object under investigation was the supplier organization in view of the purchasing company. 237 valid questionnaires were collected among key informants, using a simple random sampling developed in manufacturing industries (SIC 10-33), located in the city of Natal and in the region of Natal. The first results of descriptive analysis demonstrate the phenomenon of interorganizational trust, in which purchasing firms believe, feel secure about the supplier. This demonstration showed high levels of intensity, predominantly among the vendors that supply the company with materials that are used directly in the production process. The exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis, performed on each variable alone, generated a set of observable and unobservable variables more consistent, giving rise to a model, that needed to be further specified. This again specify model consists of trajectories was positive, with a good fit, with a composite reliability and variance extracted satisfactory, and demonstrates convergent and discriminant validity, in which the factor loadings are significant and strong explanatory power. Given the findings that reinforce the model again specify data, suggesting a high probability that this model may be more suited for the study population, the results support the explanation that interorganizational trust depends on purchases directly from interpersonal relationships, sharing value and operating performance and indirectly of personal relationships, social networks, organizational characteristics, physical and relational aspect of performance. It is concluded that this trust can be explained by a set of interactions between these three determinants, where the focus is on interpersonal relationships, with the largest path coefficient for the factor under study

This paper aims to verify the Burnout´s possibilities of incidence, finding the creating dimensions and comparing with the socio-demographics characteristics of the researched professionals. This quantitative-descriptive search has a population of 197 workers of 23 nourishing companies in Rio Grande do Norte. This population is predominantly male, younger than 28 years old, single, relatively instructed (57,07% with complete high school) and having just started their current job since 79% of the interviewees are in the company less than six years. The AUDITORIA DO SISTEMA HUMANO (ASH) model, utilized for investigation and developed for the Spaniards Quijano and Navarro in 1999, has several dimensions about human resources management and the organizational effectiveness, but only makes part of the research in 19 questions Burnout referring. It was used factorial analyses with extraction method, varimax rotation and Kaiser normalization with the intuition to define the creating dimensions of the syndrome, they were evaluated with Cronbach Alpha coefficient after extraction. The dimensions found through the factorial analyses were: emotional exhaustion, physical exhaustion and vitality. The accumulated explanation value reached 65,30% of total variation. The data socio-demographics don t justify the syndrome appearance, because the T test and ANOVA showed irrelevant values. It has been also observed that the founded dimensions were different of the Maslach sociopsychological perspective (emotional exhaustion, depersonalization and low professional realization) allowing comparison with others researches and the possibility to develop new ones with workers from different assistance areas. These new researches are important, since the syndrome refers to chronic labor stress consequences and any professional is favorable to Burnout, harmful to the company as to the collaborators

With the need of the companies in becoming more competitive within the market, it arises an incessant search for selective human potential, with a high level of capacity and low rotativity, which motivation results in production raise, quality optimization and waste reduction. This scenario requires a strategy development which advantages the Human Resources Quality Management. This way, the model of the Human System Audit (HSA), developed by the Spanish researchers Ouijano and Navarro, presents itself as an important tool to diagnosis and evaluation, contemplating the environment where the organization is inserted, its strategies, its organizational design, its processes and its organizational effectiveness. In this sense, the present study has identified the existent relation between the professional satisfaction and the Organizational Culture, based in the model HSA. The research has been a quantitative-descriptive one and has had as population the technical-administrative workers from the Federal Center of Technical Education of Rio Grande do Norte (CEFET RN). The data collection has occurred during May, 2008, by means of the application of a questionnaire in the HSA model. The sample was composed by 167 subjects, distributed among the Five units of the institution. It was used the factorial analysis, with the extraction method of main components and orthogonal rotation varimax, in order to extract the dimensions of the satisfaction and of the organizational culture and the calculation of Cronbach s Alpha coefficient, to evaluate the reliability of these dimensions. The factorial analysis of the satisfaction indicators has identified four factors,, all of them showing significance: gratefulness and relationship , self-realization , stability and security and physical conditions and social benefits . The result of the factorial analysis with the indicators of the organizational culture has extracted four factors and among them, three of them have obtained significance: Personal Satisfaction Style , Competitive-Denial-Power Style and the Conventional-Dependent Style . After identifying the dimensions of the satisfaction and culture found at CEFET-RN, it has been notice the existence or not of relation among them, through the application of Pearson s coefficient. It has been verified that all of the dimensions of the Professional satisfaction are correlated with some dimension of the organizational culture, having in outstand position, with higher intensity, the relation between the culture style of Personal Satisfaction and the satisfaction factor referring to the self-realization

In recent decades the public sector comes under pressure in order to improve its performance. The use of Information Technology (IT) has been a tool increasingly used in reaching that goal. Thus, it has become an important issue in public organizations, particularly in institutions of higher education, determine which factors influence the acceptance and use of technology, impacting on the success of its implementation and the desired organizational results. The Technology Acceptance Model - TAM was used as the basis for this study and is based on the constructs perceived usefulness and perceived ease of use. However, when it comes to integrated management systems due to the complexity of its implementation,organizational factors were added to thus seek further explanation of the acceptance of such systems. Thus, added to the model five TAM constructs related to critical success factors in implementing ERP systems, they are: support of top management, communication, training, cooperation, and technological complexity (BUENO and SALMERON, 2008). Based on the foregoing, launches the following research problem: What factors influence the acceptance and use of SIE / module academic at the Federal University of Para, from the users' perception of teachers and technicians? The purpose of this study was to identify the influence of organizational factors, and behavioral antecedents of behavioral intention to use the SIE / module academic UFPA in the perspective of teachers and technical users. This is applied research, exploratory and descriptive, quantitative with the implementation of a survey, and data collection occurred through a structured questionnaire applied to a sample of 229 teachers and 30 technical and administrative staff. Data analysis was carried out through descriptive statistics and structural equation modeling with the technique of partial least squares (PLS). Effected primarily to assess the measurement model, which were verified reliability, convergent and discriminant validity for all indicators and constructs. Then the structural model was analyzed using the bootstrap resampling technique like. In assessing statistical significance, all hypotheses were supported. The coefficient of determination (R ²) was high or average in five of the six endogenous variables, so the model explains 47.3% of the variation in behavioral intention. It is noteworthy that among the antecedents of behavioral intention (BI) analyzed in this study, perceived usefulness is the variable that has a greater effect on behavioral intention, followed by ease of use (PEU) and attitude (AT). Among the organizational aspects (critical success factors) studied technological complexity (TC) and training (ERT) were those with greatest effect on behavioral intention to use, although these effects were lower than those produced by behavioral factors (originating from TAM). It is pointed out further that the support of senior management (TMS) showed, among all variables, the least effect on the intention to use (BI) and was followed by communications (COM) and cooperation (CO), which exert a low effect on behavioral intention (BI). Therefore, as other studies on the TAM constructs were adequate for the present research. Thus, the study contributed towards proving evidence that the Technology Acceptance Model can be applied to predict the acceptance of integrated management systems, even in public. Currently the organizations are passing for continuous cycles of changes due to necessity of survival in the work market. The administration of the future points a way to the organizations of today and tomorrow, the search of the competitiveness from loyalty and motivation of its staff. Of this form, the model of the Auditoria do Sistema Humano (ASH), developed for Spanish researchers and that now it is being applied in Brazil, contemplates a series of dimensions about Human Resources management quality in the companies and the organizational effectiveness, such as the environment where the company is inserted, the strategies, the organizational drawing, the psychological and psychosocial processes, e the reached results. In this direction, the present research analyzed the factors of job satisfaction and organizational commitment, making, also, a relation of causality between the same ones. The quantitative-descriptive research had as population the employees of twenty three nourishing industries of the State of Rio Grande do Norte (Brazil), registered in the Federacy of the Industries of the state. The collection of the data occurred for the months of October of 2005 and March of 2006, by means of the application of questionnaire of model ASH. The sample was composed for 197 employees, however it was observed presence of five outliers, that they had been excluded from the analysis of the data. To extract the dimensions of the satisfaction and the commitment and identification the factorial analysis was used, with extraction method of principal components, rotation Varimax and normalization Kaiser. The gotten dimensions had been evaluated with the calculation of the coefficient Alpha of Cronbach. The factorial analysis of the pointers of the organizational commitment and identification had extracted ten factors. Of these, four had gotten significance of the analyses inside: affective commitment, values commitment, continuance commitment and necessity commitment. The result of the analysis of the pointers of job satisfaction indicated four factors: extrinsic, motivations, relation with the friends and auto-accomplishment. To deal with the data the relation between job satisfaction and organizational commitment it was used technique of multiple regression. The correlation between commitment and satisfaction was satisfactory, detaching the affective commitment with bigger index of correlation, followed of the affective one

This study aims to investigate the influence of the asset class and the breakdown of tangibility as determinant factors of the capital structure of companies listed on the BM & FBOVESPA in the period of 2008-2012. Two current assets classes were composed and once they were grouped by liquidity, they were also analyzed by the financial institutions for credit granting: current resources (Cash, Bank and Financial Applications) and operations with duplicates (Stocks and Receivables). The breakdown of the tangible assets was made based on its main components provided as warrantees for loans like Machinery & Equipment and Land & Buildings. For an analysis extension, three metrics for leverage (accounting, financial and market) were applied and the sample was divided into economic sectors, adopted by BM&FBOVESPA. The data model in dynamic panel estimated by a systemic GMM of two levels was used in this study due its strength to problems of endogenous relationship as well as the omitted variables bias. The found results suggest that current resources are determinants of the capital structure possibly because they re characterized as proxies for financial solvency, being its relationship with debt positive. The sectorial analysis confirmed the results for current resources. The tangibility of assets has inverse proportional relationship with the leverage. As it is disintegrated in its main components, the significant and negative influence of machinery & equipment was more marked in the Industrial Goods sector. This result shows that, on average, the most specific assets from operating activities of a company compete for a less use of third party resources. As complementary results, it was observed that the leverage has persistence, which is linked with the static trade-off theory. Specifically for financial leverage, it was observed that the persistence is relevant when it is controlled for the lagged current assets classes variables. The proxy variable for growth opportunities, measured by the Market -to -Book, has the sign of its contradictory coefficient. The company size has a positive relationship with debt, in favor of static trade-off theory. Profitability is the most consistent variable in all the performed estimations, showing strong negative and significant relationship with leverage, as the pecking order theory predicts

Artificial lakes must differ from natural lakes in important structural and functional aspects that need to be understood so that these ecosystems can be properly managed. The aim of this work was to test the hypothesis that the artificial lakes (impoundments) in the semi-arid region of the Rio Grande do Norte State are more eutrophic and turbid and have different trophic structure when compared to the natural coastal lakes that occur in the humid eastern coast of the State. To test this hypothesis, 10 natural lakes and 8 artificial lakes with about 100 ha were sampled between September and November 2005 for the determination of some limnological variables and the abundance of the main fish species, which were grouped in three trophic guilds: facultative piscivores, facultative planktivores and omnivores. The results show that the artificial lakes had significantly higher concentrations of total nitrogen, total phosphorus, chlorophyll a , total and volatile suspended solids than the natural lakes. Results also show that the values of pH, total alkalinity, electric conductivity, turbidity as well as the coefficient of vertical attenuation of light were significantly higher in the artificial lakes than in the natural lakes. In the artificial lakes, the abundance of facultative planktivores was significantly higher, while the abundance of facultative piscivores significantly lower than in the natural lakes. There was no significant difference in the abundance of omnivorous fish between the two types of lakes. These results suggest that the increase in turbidity together with the other changes in the water quality of the artificial lakes, modifies the trophic structure of the fish communities reducing the importance of piscivores and the length of the food chains

The Visceral Leishmaniose (LV) disease is endemic in some places in Brazil. It is caused by the protozoa Leishmania chagasi, being transmitted for vector, the phlebotomies, Lutzomyia longipalpis. In virtue of the expansion of the illness in Rio Grande do Norte, it is necessary to evaluate the determinative ambient factors in the proliferation of the vector for better control of the illness. The variable rainfall and the social variables had been analyzed using space regression with two models and the ambient variable of ZANE and the variables analyzed in 205 houses in the cities of Natal, Extremoz, Nísia Floresta, São Gonçalo do Amarante, São Jose do Mipibu, Parnamirim and Macaíba the Person and ML Chi-square were used . The analyses had shown that high rainfall, plain relief, the forest, the humid tropical climate the activities of production culture of sugar cane and fruit culture and the presence of bovines increase the risk of the LV. The work showed that it has space aggregation and that ambient factors influence in the LV in the State

This study proposes to do a study on the mathematical modeling of permeation of films based on chitosan. To conduct the study were obtained membranes with various compositions: a virtually pure membrane-based chitosan; one of chitosan associated with poly (ethylene oxide (PEO). The membranes of pure chitosan were treated with plasma in atmospheres of oxygen, argon and methane. The various types of films were characterized as to its permeation regarding sufamerazina sodium. In the process of mathematical modeling were compared the standard method of obtaining the coefficient of permeation recital straight down the slope of the plot obtained by extinction / time with a the integration process of numerical permeability rate will be calculated from the spectroscopy UV

The northeastern region of Brazil has a large number of wells producing oil using a method of secondary recovery steam injection, since the oil produced in this region is essentially viscous. This recovery method puts the cement / coating on thermal cycling, due to the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between cement and metal coating causes the appearance of cracks at this interface, allowing the passage of the annular fluid, which is associated with serious risk socioeconomic and environmental. In view of these cracks, a correction operation is required, resulting in more costs and temporary halt of production of the well. Alternatively, the oil industry has developed technology for adding new materials in cement pastes, oil well, providing high ductility and low density in order to withstand the thermo-mechanical loads generated by the injection of water vapor. In this context, vermiculite, a clay mineral found in abundance in Brazil has been applied in its expanded form in the construction industry for the manufacture of lightweight concrete with excellent insulation and noise due to its high melting point and the presence of air in their layers lamellar. Therefore, the vermiculite is used for the purpose of providing low-density cement paste and withstand high temperatures caused by steam injection. Thus, the present study compared the default folder containing cement and water with the folders with 6%, 8% and 10% vermiculite micron conducting tests of free water, rheology and compressive strength where it obtained the concentration of 8 % with the best results. Subsequently, the selected concentration, was compared with the results recommended by the API standard tests of filtered and stability. And finally, analyzed the results from tests of specific gravity and time of thickening. Before the study we were able to make a folder with a low density that can be used in cementing oil well in order to withstand the thermo-mechanical loads generated by steam injection
