AbstractThis article demonstrates the importance of Angela Carter's translations of Charles Perrault's contes into English and argues for their profound influence on her subsequent literary career. Against feminist critics who rejected fairy tales as conservative and informed by patriarchal structures and values, Carter reclaimed Perrault for feminism by recovering the critical edge and emancipating potential of his Histoires ou contes du temps passé, Avec des Moralités. This essay shows, through a comparative reading of "La Belle au bois dormant" and "The Sleeping Beauty in the Wood," that Carter opposed the worldly "politics of experience" that she found in Perrault to the Disneyfied imagery of the Sleeping Beauty myth and modernized the critique of early marriages already contained in Perrault's Moralités. The subversive power of Carter's work, therefore, is not directed against Perrault but rather toward cultural and commercial appropriations of the fairy tale, which promote a naïve view of marriage.Recommended CitationHennard Dutheil de la Rochère, Martine. After a relatively normal childhood, people suffering from cystic fibrosis reach a stage where they are progressively confronted with increasingly crippling functional limitations. Some of them nonetheless regularly undertake physical and/or sporting activity. It is then interesting to examine the process of commitment to a practice that is based on the idea of progress and often exceptional performance by the body but which, for these people, makes the decline of their physical capacities particularly salient. The qualitative survey combines participant observation with 35 semi-directive interviews with sportsmen and women with cystic fibrosis. Their commitment to sport, constructed by/with the family is initially first aimed maintaining a form of control over their identity but progressively becomes a means of controlling the illness trajectory. Lung transplant, when possible, relaunches the practice in relation to its initial interests.

This doctoral thesis examines a recent phenomenon in European higher education, namely the reform of doctoral education. On the basis of a number of case studies, consisting of Swiss and Norwegian doctoral schools, and their institutional, national and international context, it demonstrates to what extent changes appear in doctoral education and its governance. Findings indicate new practices regarding doctoral students' recruitment, curricular component, supervision, scientific exchange, follow-up and their career. Doctoral education's character is not anymore exclusively determined by individual supervisors, but increasingly by interdisciplinary and interinstitutional colleges of academics. Finally, general governance patterns are identified: according to the type of scientific discipline and higher education institution, the institution's size and national political system, the field of higher education is more or less dominated by New Public Management or Network Governance characteristics.
