In this paper the author analyses the concept of the mind in the Alcuin’s treatise De ratione animae. Following the teaching of the Fathers, specially Augustine and Isidore of Sevilla, Alcuin of York comprehends the mind as a nominal part of the soul and as its highest peak, the way in which the man is a God’s image. Finally is presented an sketch of the Alcuin’s knowledge theory as exposed in this treatise.

Este informe forma parte del proyecto “Necesidades, Experiencias y conocimientos en salud sexual reproductiva entre los profesionales de salud y las mujeres inmigrantes en San Juan (Puerto Rico), Madrid (España) y Nueva York (EE.UU.): Anticoncepción y Embarazo No Deseado” auspiciado por Saludpromujer, Departamento de Obstetricia y Ginecología de la Escuela de Medicina, Universidad de Puerto Rico. En esta parte de la investigación hemos explorado el acceso a los servicios de salud sexual y reproductiva (SSR) de las mujeres inmigrantes en Madrid a partir de las experiencias y conocimientos de un grupo de profesionales de la salud acerca del uso del misoprostol como alternativa para interrumpir embarazos no deseados en población inmigrante y española. Este acercamiento nos ha permitido profundizar en las necesidades en salud sexual y reproductiva del colectivo de mujeres inmigrantes en Madrid y las estrategias para satisfacerlas.

Composition of Fe-Mn nodules and crusts from the Cape Basin

Facies zonation of the Cape basin with respect to Fe-Mn nodules based on data from Cruise 43 of R/V Akademik Kurchatov and published data is presented. Three facies regions are distinguished: the southern end of the Walvis Ridge and seamounts, the continental slope of the Southwest Africa and the deep-water Cape Basin. Iron-manganese nodules in the first of these areas are predominantly sedimentary, those in the second area are diagenetic and those in the third are sedimentary-diagenetic. Chemical characteristics and type of metallogenic specialization for each of the regions are identified.
