Going Public in the European Union: Action Repertoires of Western European Collective Political Actors

As a result of the Europeanization of politics and the increasing role of the public sphere, political actors in Western Europe are currently facing a double strategic challenge. Based on data from seven West European countries and the European Union, the authors analyze how state actors, political parties, interest groups, and social movement organizations cope with this double challenge at both the national and the supranational level. Results indicate that the classic repertoire of inside strategies at the national level is still the most typical for all actors, but media-related strategies are also prominent at the national level. The Europeanization of repertoires is mainly determined by institutional factors and by the actors' power, whereas the public arena plays an equally important role for all types of actors, in all countries and at both the national and the EU level.

Avaliação do potencial do turismo marítimo-desportivo em Cabo Verde. Uma análise a partir da população residente.

O presente estudo tem como objetivo principal avaliar o potencial do turismo marítimo-desportivo em Cabo Verde. Uma análise a partir da população residente. Como instrumento de recolha de dados recorreu-se ao questionário, aplicado a uma amostra de duzentos residentes em Cabo Verde. O preenchimento dos questionários decorreu na versão online na plataforma googledrive. O questionário foi dividido em quatro secções distintas: 1) A caraterização sociodemográfica dos praticantes do turismo marítimo-desportivo; 2) os indicadores e comportamentos de surf; 3) os comportamentos de viagem de atividades marítimo-desportivas, e; 4) e por fim os atributos de destino. Após a análise dos dados obtidos, constatou-se que a maioria dos indivíduos respondentes é do sexo masculino, com idade compreendida entre os 18 e os 30 anos, e solteiro. Relativamente ao nível de instrução, os inquiridos apresentam maioritariamente habilitações ao nível do ensino superior, com uma situação ativa perante o trabalho, maioritariamente a trabalhar por conta de outrem, e com rendimentos acima da média nacional. Os atributos mais valorizados foram: “destino seguro”, “destino com bom clima” e “destino com boa temperatura da água”. Através da análise fatorial, os 32 itens dos atributos de destino foram agrupados em 4 dimensões: 1) “Ambiente e Natureza”; 2) “Baixa Procura Turística”; 3) “Recursos Marítimo-Desportivos” e; 4) “ Recursos Turísticos”. As principais diferenças estatisticamente significativas aparecem na variável idade na dimensão “Baixa Procura Turística”; na variável nível de instrução nas dimensões “Recursos Marítimo-Desportivos” e “ Recursos Turísticos” e; na variável prática de atividades Marítimo-Desportivas na dimensão “Baixa Procura Turística”. Respondendo ao objetivo de estudo pode-se afirmar, de acordo com as respostas obtidas, que Cabo Verde tem um grande potencial para aprática de atividades marítimo-desportiva, apesar dos resultados evidenciarem também que esse potencial não está a ser bem explorado.

Nutrientes y renovación del agua en aiguamolls de l’Empordà. (NE de la península Ibérica). Uso potencial de agua residual para la inundación de zonas húmedas

The monitoring of the ecological water quality of 'Aiguamolls de l’Empordà' Natural Park was carried out between September 1996 to August 1997. The aim was to evaluate the impact of effluent from a nearby wastewater treatment plant, on the flooding of marshes in the Natural Park. In this paper we present physical and chemical data together nutrient concentrations and its changes in the lentic system of the 'Aiguamolls de l’Empordà'. The ultimate aim was to evaluate the effect of reclaimed wastewater on the salt marsh system. Seasonal variation in nutrients concentrations and their relationship to turnover and source of water were analysed. Significant variation in the N/P ratio was related to water turnover. Confined systems presented lower values for this ratio. Taking into account the nutrient concentrations of the reclaimed water, which is rich in nitrogen, it is recommended flooding applied in zones with high water turnover and higher N/P ratios
