Beef quality of young Angus x Nellore cattle supplemented with rumen-protected lipids during rearing and fatting periods

This work evaluated the beef quality parameters of 108 bulls randomly administered to three treatments during rearing in pastures and two treatments during fatting in feedlots, including mineral and rumen-protected lipids. Meat and fat color, cooking yield, shear force, sensorial traits and chemical and fatty acid compositions were evaluated. Generally, the beef quality parameters were not affected by the rumen protected lipids; however, supplementation with rumen-protected lipids during the rearing period yielded darker beef and brighter fat and increased beef tenderness in meat aged for 28 days compared to the meat from animals that received only mineral supplementation. In addition, the percent of meat polyunsaturated fatty acids was negatively affected by the inclusion of protected lipids, yielding 5.58 and 3.72% in animals fed with and without rumen-protected lipids, respectively, during the fatting period. Estudo das propriedades físicas em materiais vítreos do sistema 50B2O3 - 15CuO - 20Li2O - 15X (X= Na2O, K2O, RbCI e Cs2O)

The increasing demand for devices for solid state applications in many technological areas has resulted in a high demand for new materials. Among these material have the advantage of being manufactured with different chemical compositions, and may have physical properties equal to or higher than the corresponding crystalline material. The aim of this paper was to produce borate glass system 50B2O3 – 15CuO – 20Li2O – 15X (X = Na2O, K2O, RbCl e Cs2O) to analyze the influence of the atomic radius of alkali in the physical properties of this glass system. The glasses were synthesized by the process of melting and molding. The characteristic temperatures were determined by the technique of scanning calorimetry (DSC). The non-crystalline was determined by x-ray diffraction. In order to determine the molar volume a density measurement by using the Archimedes method was used. The structural characterization was carried out using the technique of infrared spectroscopy

Determinação da sensibilidade elementar de amostras-padrão pelo método de flurescência de raios X por reflexão total

To determinate the multielemental concentrations in biological samples using the technique of total reflection X-ray fluorescence (TRFX) is essential the use of standard samples. The aim of this study is the determination of the sensitivities of the relevant elements in standard samples (Multi Element atomic spectroscopy standard solution in HNO3 I) prepared in three solutions with different and known concentrations. Based on the sensitivities of the elements contained in the multilelementar standard sample, it can estimate the sensitivity for an element found in the biological sample and consequently it is possible to determinate the concentration, even though the standard does not contain this element. Ideologia industrial x cultura rural: o método SESI de ensino em uma escola rural

This study compares two educational practices: the Rural School method (Escola do Campo) and the SESI teaching method, suggesting that the latter one is inefficient when applied to rural schools, as illustrated with a case study of a rural school that was obliged to adopt this method in 2012. The epistemological basis of a dialogical pedagogy for rural education has been used in order to criticize the practices of a method whose origins in the industrial ideology and in consumerism promotes a true cultural invasion, according to Paulo Freire, hindering the students' dialogues with respect to the ways of life in rural areas and in towns – an interaction that assured school performance in the previous educational system, which has been arbitrarily discontinued by the political power. Different surveys were used in this study for both compared cases, specially dissertations that have evaluated the Rural School project (Projeto Escola do Campo), adopted in Araraquara in 2004, a dissertation about the SESI teaching method that has discussed its new didactic material and, also, an evaluation of the contents of a representative sample of textbooks of History, Geography, Sciences and Mathematics for the 6th grade of elementary school. It is a theoretical text, not an essay, considering that it is based on concrete situations, which were explained using researches on the implicit themes and summarizes the analytical procedures that have allowed to unveil, in the textbooks prepared by SESI, the stimulus and the valorization of consumerism, without any criticism and environment concerns.

Teletandem interinstitucional português x espanhol

Este trabajo es parte de una investigación todavía en curso y objetiva observar cómo alumnos brasileños de la carrera de Letras - portugués y español - organizan y ponen en práctica la enseñanza del portugués a parejas hispanohablantes, en el contexto Teletandem. Buscamos comprender cómo/si son planificados los contenidos de LP que enseñan y el impacto de las prácticas de Teletandem a la formación de esos profesores de idiomas. Esta investigación es basada en la metodología cualitativa crítica, más específicamente en la visión de Carspecken. Los datos obtenidos hasta ahora muestran que, debido a la proximidad de las lenguas, este contexto de aprendizaje virtual requiere la presencia de un mediador que les señale a los aprendices aspectos lingüísticos y culturales que deben ser considerados.

Bakhtin, during the development of his theories, focused matters concerned to language, also taking account of the vital importance of its role in the formation of men. Thus, he was concerned in treating language not only as a simple mean of communication among people, but also as a social and crucial activity for the development of human beings. According to that and regarding the Bakhtinian concepts of alterity and dialogism in this paper, we intend to verify some aspects related to Macabéa, the protagonist of the novel entitled A Hora da Estrela, by Clarice Lispector, as well as her communication with the outside world, via language, trying to clarify, into that process, elucidative elements which attest her diffi culty in interacting with the world that surrounds her, besides the consequent de(constitution) of her own identity.

Studies on structural, morphological and electrical properties of Ce1-xErxO2-delta (x=0.05-0.20) as solid electrolyte for IT - SOFC

A series of four different powders ceria doped Ce1-xErxO2-delta (0.05 <= x <= 0.20) were synthesized by applying self-propagating reaction at room temperature (SPRT method). SPRT procedure is based on the self-propagating room temperature reaction between metal nitrates and sodium hydroxide, wherein the reaction is spontaneous and terminates extremely fast. The method is known to assure very precise stoichiometry of the final product in comparison with a tailored composition. XRPD, Raman spectroscopy, TEM and BET measurements were used to characterize the nanopowders at room temperature. It was shown that all obtained powders were single phase solid solutions with a fluorite-type crystal structure and all powder particles have nanometric size (about 3-4 nm). Densification was performed at 1550 degrees C, in an air atmosphere for 2 h. XRPD, SEM and complex impedance method measurements were carried out on sintered samples. Single phase form was evidenced for each sintered materials. The best value of conductivity at 700 degrees C amounted to 1.10 x 10(-2) Omega(-1) cm(-1) for Ce0.85Er0.O-3(2-delta) sample. Corresponding activation energies of conductivity amounted to 0.28 eV in the temperature range 500-700 degrees C. (C) 2015 Elsevier B.V. All rights reserved.
