In many Gram-negative bacteria, the GacS/GacA two-component system positively controls the expression of extracellular products or storage compounds. In the plant-beneficial rhizosphere bacterium Pseudomonas fluorescens CHA0, the GacS/GacA system is essential for the production of antibiotic compounds and hence for biological control of root-pathogenic fungi. The small (119-nt) RNA RsmX discovered in this study, together with RsmY and RsmZ, forms a triad of GacA-dependent small RNAs, which sequester the RNA-binding proteins RsmA and RsmE and thereby antagonize translational repression exerted by these proteins in strain CHA0. This small RNA triad was found to be both necessary and sufficient for posttranscriptional derepression of biocontrol factors and for protection of cucumber from Pythium ultimum. The same three small RNAs also positively regulated swarming motility and the synthesis of a quorum-sensing signal, which is unrelated to N-acyl-homoserine lactones, and which autoinduces the Gac/Rsm cascade. Expression of RsmX and RsmY increased in parallel throughout cell growth, whereas RsmZ was produced during the late growth phase. This differential expression is assumed to facilitate fine tuning of GacS/A-controlled cell population density-dependent regulation in P. fluorescens.

Background: Prosthetic joint infections (PJI) lead to significant long-term morbidity with high cost of healthcare. We evaluated characteristics of infections and the infection and functional outcome of knee PJI over a 10-year period. Methods: All patients hospitalized at our institution from 1/2000 through 12/2009 with knee PJI (defined as growth of the same microorganism in ≥2 tissue or synovial fluid cultures, visible purulence, sinus tract or acute inflammation on tissue histopathology) were included. Patients, their relatives and/or treating physicians were contacted to determine the outcome. Results: During the study period, 61 patients with knee PJI were identified. The median age at the time of diagnosis of infection was 73 y (range, 53-94 y); 52% were men. Median hospital stay was 37 d (range, 1-145 d). Most reasons for primary arthroplasty was osteoarthritis (n = 48), trauma (n = 9) and rheumatoid arthritis (n = 4). 23 primary surgeries (40%) were performed at CHUV, 34 (60%) elsewhere. After surgery, 8 PJI were early (<3 months), 16 delayed (3-24 months) and 33 late (>24 months). PJI were treated with (i) open or arthroscopic debridement with prosthesis retention in 26 (46%), (ii) one-stage exchange in 1, (iii) two-stage exchange in 22 (39%) and (iv) prosthesis removal in 8 (14%). Isolated pathogens were S. aureus (13), coagulase-negative staphylococci (10), streptococci (5), enterococci (3), gram-negative rods (3) and anaerobes (3). Patients were followed for a median of 3.1 years, 2 patients died (unrelated to PJI). The outcome of infection was favorable in 50 patients (88%), whereas the functional outcome was favorable in 33 patients (58%). Conclusions: With the current treatment concept, the high cure rate of infection (88%) is associated with a less favorable functional outcome o 58%. Earlier surgical intervention and more rapid and improved diagnosis of infection may improve the functional outcome of PJI.

OBJECTIVES: To provide a global, up-to-date picture of the prevalence, treatment, and outcomes of Candida bloodstream infections in intensive care unit patients and compare Candida with bacterial bloodstream infection. DESIGN: A retrospective analysis of the Extended Prevalence of Infection in the ICU Study (EPIC II). Demographic, physiological, infection-related and therapeutic data were collected. Patients were grouped as having Candida, Gram-positive, Gram-negative, and combined Candida/bacterial bloodstream infection. Outcome data were assessed at intensive care unit and hospital discharge. SETTING: EPIC II included 1265 intensive care units in 76 countries. PATIENTS: Patients in participating intensive care units on study day. INTERVENTIONS: None. MEASUREMENT AND MAIN RESULTS: Of the 14,414 patients in EPIC II, 99 patients had Candida bloodstream infections for a prevalence of 6.9 per 1000 patients. Sixty-one patients had candidemia alone and 38 patients had combined bloodstream infections. Candida albicans (n = 70) was the predominant species. Primary therapy included monotherapy with fluconazole (n = 39), caspofungin (n = 16), and a polyene-based product (n = 12). Combination therapy was infrequently used (n = 10). Compared with patients with Gram-positive (n = 420) and Gram-negative (n = 264) bloodstream infections, patients with candidemia were more likely to have solid tumors (p < .05) and appeared to have been in an intensive care unit longer (14 days [range, 5-25 days], 8 days [range, 3-20 days], and 10 days [range, 2-23 days], respectively), but this difference was not statistically significant. Severity of illness and organ dysfunction scores were similar between groups. Patients with Candida bloodstream infections, compared with patients with Gram-positive and Gram-negative bloodstream infections, had the greatest crude intensive care unit mortality rates (42.6%, 25.3%, and 29.1%, respectively) and longer intensive care unit lengths of stay (median [interquartile range]) (33 days [18-44], 20 days [9-43], and 21 days [8-46], respectively); however, these differences were not statistically significant. CONCLUSION: Candidemia remains a significant problem in intensive care units patients. In the EPIC II population, Candida albicans was the most common organism and fluconazole remained the predominant antifungal agent used. Candida bloodstream infections are associated with high intensive care unit and hospital mortality rates and resource use.

Although Drosophila systemic immunity is extensively studied, little is known about the fly's intestine-specific responses to bacterial infection. Global gene expression analysis of Drosophila intestinal tissue to oral infection with the Gram-negative bacterium Erwinia carotovora revealed that immune responses in the gut are regulated by the Imd and JAK-STAT pathways, but not the Toll pathway. Ingestion of bacteria had a dramatic impact on the physiology of the gut that included modulation of stress response and increased stem cell proliferation and epithelial renewal. Our data suggest that gut homeostasis is maintained through a balance between cell damage due to the collateral effects of bacteria killing and epithelial repair by stem cell division. The Drosophila gut provides a powerful model to study the integration of stress and immunity with pathways associated with stem cell control, and this study should prove to be a useful resource for such further studies.

OBJECTIVE: To study the correlation between the bacteriological and histopathological findings in placentas from women with suspected or proven chorioamnionitis (CA). METHODS: Over a 1-year period, 376 placentas were prospectively collected and processed for bacteriological and pathological studies in cases of confirmed or suspected maternal or neonatal infection. RESULTS: Histological CA was diagnosed in 26.9% of placentas (101/376), and 27.7% (28/101) of these placentas had positive bacteriological cultures. A monomicrobial culture, mainly represented by Gram-positive cocci and Gram-negative bacilli, was identified in 27% of the positive bacterial cultures. The proportion of positive cultures was higher (p=0.03) when CA was associated with funisitis, as compared with placental samples with early CA. In placentas without histological CA, bacteriological cultures were mostly negative (230/275), although pathogenic bacteria were identified in 16.3% of them (45/275). CONCLUSIONS: The histological and bacteriological results were concordant in about 70% of the examined placentas, with 61.1% negative cases (CA absent and negative bacterial cultures), and only 7.4% placentas with positive histological and bacteriological results. Discordant results (positive histology with negative bacteriology) were obtained in placentas with early CA documented by histology although possibly in relation with antibiotic prophylaxis and the presence of fastidious bacteria. Conversely, negative histology with positive bacteriology could be explained by the presence of an early-stage bacterial infection that has not yet led to detectable microscopic lesions.

Introdução. Estudos da etiologia do corrimento genital se apresentam como alternativa na tomada de decisão por parte dos médicos no que concerne ao diagnóstico e tratamento, tendo em conta que, a origem de corrimento genital é multifactorial e que as associações entre as diferentes infecções são frequentes, portanto, o diagnóstico e tratamento tornam-se fulcral devendo ser individualizados a fim de, diminuir o impacto que possa ocorrer quando se aplica um tratamento sindrómico. Este estudo teve como objectivo estudar a ocorrência do corrimento genital nos pacientes atendidos na Delegacia de Saúde de São Domingos. Metodologia. Realizou-se o estudo de 68 amostras de exsudado genital de pacientes atendidos na Delegacia de Saúde de São Domingos que apresentavam corrimento. Pretendeuse analisar algumas variáveis nomeadamente sexo dos pacientes, idade, estado em que se encontram (grávida ou não), Caracterização da flora microbiana mediante a coloração de gram, manifestações clínicas, resultados de cultivo, contagem de células (células epiteliais, leucócitos e eritrócitos). Os resultados foram tabulados utilizando como ferramenta a panilha Exel 2007 e SPSS versão 17.0, sendo, expressos em frequência absoluta e relativa. Fez-se o teste de correlação de Pearson, afim de, determinar a associação entre as diferentes variáveis. Também aplicou-se teste de Qui-quadrado (p> 0,05 ou seja p> 5 %) para saber se a associação entre casos de vulvovaginites com as manifestações clínicas apresentadas pelos pacientes é uma mera coincidência. Os resultados de diferentes tipos de células (células de descamação, leucócitos e eritrócitos) foram expressos em intervalo de confiança 95%. Resultados e Conclusão. Os resultados demostraram que aproximadamente 74% dos amostrados reportaram casos positivos referentes a estudo etiológico, sendo a maioria com idade compreendida entre 21 a 30 com o maior destaque para candidíase vaginal (N= 36; 53%), indo de acordo com estudos feitos em outros países. Em média os pacientes tinham 27 anos. Através desse estudo concluiu-se que a maioria das infecções vaginais diagnosticadas nos pacientes atendidos na delegacia com corrimento genital refere-se a candidíase vaginal, sendo portanto os pacientes em idade fértil as que apresentaram maior número de casos. Portando considera-se pertinente o auxílio laboratorial para o diagnostico das diferentes etiologias.

As infecções do tracto respiratório (ITR) são responsáveis por números significativos de morbidade e mortalidade. Dentre as doenças causadas por infecção bacteriana, a tuberculose é a que mais preocupa as autoridades de saúde pública, uma vês que possui risco de proliferar para diferentes órgãos (tuberculose extrapulmonar) e também ser transmitido principalmente por via aérea. A análise de expectoração através da observação directa é a primeira etapa no diagnóstico de série de infecções de tracto respiratório, tanto através da coloração de Gram como a coloração de Ziehl- Neelsen, sendo um método simples, económico, rápido e de fácil execução, servindo de base para a avaliação da amostra de expectoração através da coloração de gram. Este estudo teve como principal objectivo a caracterização laboratorial de amostra de expectoração e pesquisa de bacilo de tuberculose nas amostras recebidas no laboratório da Delegacia de Saúde da Praia e outros agentes patogénicos respiratórios através da coloração de gram e coloração de Ziehl Neelsen nas amostras. Aplicou-se também um questionário à população em estudo. Foram analisadas 513 amostras de expectoração no período compreendido entre Junho a Setembro de 2011. Das amostras analisadas detectou-se 39 casos positivos de tuberculose, sendo a maioria pertencentes aos pacientes do sexo masculino e idade compreendida entre 1457 anos, residentes em Achada Santo António e Ponta D`Agua, e a maioria declaram consumir bebidas alcoólicas. Em maioria das amostras positivas observou-se grande quantidade de Bacilos Álcool-ácido resistente correspondendo ao critério 2 + e 3 + da OMS e score +1, +2 e +3 de Bartlett. A maioria das amostras positiva possuía cor esverdeada e muito viscosa. Através da coloração de gram detectou-se em maioria das amostras presença de diplococos gram positivos lanceolados sugestivos de Streptococcus pneumoniae. Conclui-se que 8% dos casos positivos estava associada a presença elevada de leucócitos (superior de 25 leucócitos por campo) e a maioria das amostras verificou-se presença de outros microrganismos patogénicos (não bacilo álcool ácido resistente), revelando assim a importância da coloração de gram na análise de expectoração.

Purpose: Pretargeted radioimmunotherapy (PRIT) using streptavidin (SAv)-biotin technology can deliver higher therapeutic doses of radioactivity to tumors than conventional RIT. However, "endogenous" biotin can interfere with the effectiveness of this approach by blocking binding of radiolabeled biotin to SAv. We engineered a series of SAv FPs that downmodulate the affinity of SAv for biotin, while retaining high avidity for divalent DOTA-bis-biotin to circumvent this problem.Experimental Design: The single-chain variable region gene of the murine 1F5 anti-CD20 antibody was fused to the wild-type (WT) SAv gene and to mutant SAv genes, Y43A-SAv and S45A-SAv. FPs were expressed, purified, and compared in studies using athymic mice bearing Ramos lymphoma xenografts.Results: Biodistribution studies showed delivery of more radioactivity to tumors of mice pretargeted with mutant SAv FPs followed by (111)In-DOTA-bis-biotin [6.2 +/- 1.7% of the injected dose per gram (%ID/gm) of tumor 24 hours after Y43A-SAv FP and 5.6 +/- 2.2%ID/g with S45A-SAv FP] than in mice on normal diets pretargeted with WT-SAv FP (2.5 +/- 1.6%ID/g; P = 0.01). These superior biodistributions translated into superior antitumor efficacy in mice treated with mutant FPs and (90)Y-DOTA-bis-biotin [tumor volumes after 11 days: 237 +/- 66 mm(3) with Y43A-SAv, 543 +/- 320 mm(3) with S45A-SAv, 1129 +/- 322 mm(3) with WT-SAv, and 1435 +/- 212 mm(3) with control FP (P < 0.0001)].Conclusions: Genetically engineered mutant-SAv FPs and bis-biotin reagents provide an attractive alternative to current SAv-biotin PRIT methods in settings where endogenous biotin levels are high. The experiment was conducted at the Aquaculture Station “Amazonia Aquaculture Service”. We worked with 13 females and 16 males. The main objectives was the inducing breeding with carp pituitary extract. All females spawned, however, five females with negative results on fertility. In an average temperature of 28.12±0.61 °C, it takes 5.68±0.53 hours for spawning or 159.01±14.45 hours-grade. The females of 4 years of 2310±143.2 g, fertilization rate achieved, over 66% on average 1497.60±14,57 eggs are per gram, fertilization and hatching rate of 68.80±1.9% and 53.59±8.7% respectively. Hatching occurred at 11.67±0.32 hours, the water temperature was 28.25±0.09 °C, so that the hatching 331.07±12.56 required hour’s degree.

RP 59500 is a new injectable streptogramin composed of two synergistic components (quinupristin and dalfopristin) which are active against erythromycin-susceptible and -resistant gram-positive pathogens. The present experiments compared the therapeutic efficacy of RP 59500 with that of vancomycin against experimental endocarditis due to either of two erythromycin-susceptible or two constitutively erythromycin-resistant isolates of methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. RP 59500 had low MICs for the four test organisms as well as for 24 additional isolates (the MIC at which 90% of the isolates were inhibited was &lt; 1 mg/liter) which were mostly inducibly (47%) or constitutively (39%) erythromycin resistant. Aortic endocarditis in rats was produced with catheter-induced vegetations. Three-day therapy was initiated 12 h after infection, and the drugs were delivered via a computerized pump, which permitted the mimicking of the drug kinetics produced in human serum by twice-daily intravenous injections of 7 mg of RP 59500 per kg of body weight or 1 g of vancomycin. Both antibiotics reduced vegetation bacterial titers to below detection levels in ca. 70% of animals infected with the erythromycin-susceptible isolates (P &lt; 0.05 compared with titers in controls). Vancomycin was also effective against the constitutively resistant strains, but RP 59500 failed against these isolates. Further experiments proved that RP 59500 failures were related to the very short life span of dalfopristin in serum (&lt; or = 2 h, compared with &gt; or = 6 h for quinupristin), since successful treatment was restored by artificially prolonging the dalfopristin levels for 6 h. Thus, RP 59500 is a promising alternative to vancomycin against methicillin-resistant S. aureus infections, provided that pharmacokinetic parameters are adjusted to afford prolonged levels of both of its constituents in serum. This observation is also relevant to humans, in whom the life span of dalfopristin in serum is also shorter than that of quinupristin.

Les élevages intensifs d'animaux de rente, en particulier ceux de bovins et de porcins sont nombreux en France et sont concentrés dans certaines régions (Bretagne, Normandie, Massif central, Alpes, Pyrénées). Au total, on dénombre environ 20 millions de bovins répartis dans 280 000 exploitations et 25 millions de porcs répartis dans 30 000 exploitations. Ceci représente en moyenne 70 vaches/exploitation et 830 porcs/exploitation. De telles densités d'animaux réunis sur des surfaces de taille minimale, génèrent d'énormes quantités de déchets organiques, notamment de matières fécales qui contiennent une grande diversité de bactéries, pouvant parfois être pathogènes pour l'humain. Une partie de ces bactéries sont des bactéries gram négatif (entérobactéries) dont les parois contiennent des endotoxines (1). Ces endotoxines sont connues pour causer des problèmes respiratoires ou des problèmes toxiques (ODTS) (2), lorsqu'elles sont inhalées (Cole, Todd, Wing ; 2000). Jusqu'à présent, plusieurs études se sont attachées à évaluer l'exposition à ces bioaérosols (3) à l'intérieur des élevages d'animaux (vaches, chevaux, porcs, poules) et ont démontré la présence d'importantes concentrations de bactéries et d'endotoxines aéroportées. Cependant, très peu d'études ont estimé la dispersion de ces bioaérosols à l'extérieur des installations d'élevages. En 2008, une étude américaine avait caractérisé les bactéries aéroportées retrouvées dans,et autour, d'une douzaine d'exploitations porcines. Cette étude avait été discutée dans le cadre d'une note d'actualité scientifique précédente (BVS 9). Aujourd'hui, ces mêmes auteurs nous livrent des résultats concernant l'exposition aux endotoxines dans et autour de ces mêmes élevages de porcs (Ko et al., 2010). Une autre équipe de recherche chinoise a estimé la dispersion d'Escherichia coli dans l'environnement immédiat d'exploitations porcines (Yuan, Chai, Miao ; 2010). Cette bactérie, appelée aussi coliforme, fait partie de la flore intestinale normale de tous les animaux à sang chaud (mammifères et oiseaux). Sa mise en évidence dans certains milieux,notamment l'eau, est utilisée comme indicateur de contamination fécale. Finalement, une autre étude vient de paraître concernant les concentrations en endotoxines au cours de l'année, à proximité de stabulations ouvertes de vaches laitières (Dungan, Leytem, Bjorneberg ; 2010). La prospección para evaluar la biología y pesquería de Coryphaena hippurus perico o dorado, se efectuó del 10 de febrero al 1 de marzo 2010, a bordo del BIC Imarpe V. El área de extracción fue de 4°59’32,8’’ a 10°15’20,1’’S y de 79°55’16,2’’ a 84°35’04,2’’W; la captura total fue 1.500,5 kg. La CPUE varió de 0,9 a 18,2 kg/Nº Anzuelos/1000*hora efectiva de pesca. Se encontró alta selección interespecífi ca del espinel superfi cial, al capturar 87,8% de perico y 8 especies de peces, tortugas y cefalópodos. El rango de tallas para hembras fue 79 - 141 cm de LT, en machos fue 100 - 157 cm LT. El factor de condición de Fulton en machos varió de 0,30 a 0,46 y en hembras de 0,32 a 0,40. Se determinó para hembras: L∞=148,92 cm, tasa de crecimiento anual (K) 1,081, se estimó t0 = -0,076 años, el Índice de performance Ǿ= 4,38; para machos, estos parámetros fueron L∞=169,75 cm, tasa de crecimiento anual (K) de 0,893, t0 = -0,115, índice de performance Ǿ= 4,40. La curva de crecimiento en talla para hembras, indica que a un año de edad la LT es 102,4 cm y en machos 107 cm. El máximo crecimiento en peso para hembras y machos fue a 1,5 años de vida. El Índice gonadosomático (IGS) fl uctuó de 3,2 a 4,6 mostrando comportamiento heterogéneo. La proporción sexual fue de 2:1 favorable a las hembras. La fecundidad parcial fue de 324.416 ovocitos por tanda de desove. La fecundidad relativa fue 56 ovocitos/ gramo de peso corporal. El tipo de alimento fue peces, cefalópodos y crustáceos con dominancia de Exocoetus volitans (%IRI = 31,6), Argonauta spp. (%IRI = 26,4) mostrando variaciones según zonas y tallas. El consumo de alimento fue 472,7 g/ind./día correspondiente a 7,4% de su peso corporal, presentando fl uctuaciones con respecto a la talla; alimentándose en horas de la mañana, con un máximo entre las 8:00 y 9:59 horas. Se encontraron 5.762 parásitos, identifi cándose 8 especies en cuatro taxas. La prevalencia parasitaria indica que Tentacularia coryphaenae y Bathycotyle coryphaenae alcanzan el 100%, seguido por Hysterothylacium sp. 62% y Caligus coryphaenae 46%. El mayor número de parásitos se encontró en el estómago. Los peces entre 96–100 cm de LT son los más parasitados. La mayor incidencia parasitaria se encontró en la zona norte, en el tramo Paita-Salaverry. Los registros de temperatura en la columna de agua fueron de 12,7 a 27,3 °C y las ATSM de 0,2 a 4,1 °C. Por el frente oceánico se observaron comportamientos térmicos cálidos asociados a las masas de Aguas Ecuatoriales Superfi ciales y Aguas Subtropicales Superfi ciales y por la zona costera se localizaron Aguas Costeras Frías tanto en Chimbote como en Chicama con temperaturas próximas a 22,0 °C. La concentración de oxígeno disuelto superfi cial se presentó favorable para el perico.

Plants naturally produce the lipid-derived polyester cutin, which is found in the plant cuticle that is deposited at the outermost extracellular matrix of the epidermis covering nearly all aboveground tissues. Being at the interface between the cell and the external environment, cutin and the cuticle play important roles in the protection of plants from several stresses. A number of enzymes involved in the synthesis of cutin monomers have recently been identified, including several P450s and one acyl-CoA synthetase, thus representing the first steps toward the understanding of polyester formation and, potentially, polyester engineering to improve the tolerance of plants to stresses, such as drought, and for industrial applications. However, numerous processes underlying cutin synthesis, such as a controlled polymerization, still remain elusive. Suberin is a second polyester found in the extracellular matrix, most often synthesized in root tissues and during secondary growth. Similar to cutin, the function of suberin is to seal off the respective tissue to inhibit water loss and contribute to resistance to pathogen attack. Being the main constituent of cork, suberin is a plant polyester that has already been industrially exploited. Genetic engineering may be worth exploring in order to change the polyester properties for either different applications or to increase cork production in other species. Polyhydroxyalkanoates (PHAs) are attractive polyesters of 3-hydroxyacids because of their properties as bioplastics and elastomers. Although PHAs are naturally found in a wide variety of bacteria, biotechnology has aimed at producing these polymers in plants as a source of cheap and renewable biodegradable plastics. Synthesis of PHA containing various monomers has been demonstrated in the cytosol, plastids, and peroxisomes of plants. Several biochemical pathways have been modified in order to achieve this, including the isoprenoid pathway, the fatty acid biosynthetic pathway, and the fatty acid β-oxidation pathway. PHA synthesis has been demonstrated in a number of plants, including monocots and dicots, and up to 40% PHA per gram dry weight has been demonstrated in Arabidopsis thaliana. Despite some successes, production of PHA in crop plants remains a challenging project. PHA synthesis at high level in vegetative tissues, such as leaves, is associated with chlorosis and reduced growth. The challenge for the future is to succeed in synthesis of PHA copolymers with a narrow range of monomer compositions, at levels that do not compromise plant productivity. This goal will undoubtedly require a deeper understanding of plant biochemical pathways and how carbon fluxes through these pathways can be manipulated, areas where plant "omics" can bring very valuable contributions.

As gramíneas, usadas comumente para reabilitação de áreas degradadas, podem formar associações em suas raízes com bactérias fixadoras de nitrogênio e, assim, contribuir para a sustentabilidade do ecossistema. Por outro lado, a diversidade microbiana exerce papel relevante na resiliência dos processos biológicos do solo, que incluem a fixação biológica de N2. O presente estudo teve como objetivo a caracterização fenotípica de 72 isolados de bactérias diazotróficas associativas Gram-negativas, oriundos de áreas sob diferentes estratégias de reabilitação, após a mineração da bauxita em Poços de Caldas (MG), por meio da inoculação de amostras de solo nos meios de cultivo NFb, Fam e JNFb. Estirpes tipo e referência de espécies de Azospirillum, Herbaspirillum e Burkholderia foram usadas para comparação, uma vez que são capazes de crescer nestes meios. O dendrograma de similaridade baseado em sete características culturais dos isolados em meio de cultivo GNA revelou grande diversidade, sendo obtidos 50 grupos a 81 % de similaridade. A tolerância a NaCl em meio de cultivo batata/sacarose/ácido málico variou de 0 a 50 g L-1, permitindo separar os isolados e estirpes tipo em cinco grupos. O diâmetro celular variou de 0,61 a 1,21 µm, e 13 isolados diferiram das estirpes tipo e referência. Os padrões de proteína total, obtidos por eletroforese em gel de poliacrilamida (SDS-PAGE), foram bastante diversos, possibilitando a formação de 15 grupos com similaridade a 75 %. Não houve relação entre os grupos formados pelas várias características estudadas, tampouco destes com as áreas de origem dos isolados. Os meios de cultivo Fam e JNFb detectaram, além das espécies-alvo, outras não identificadas. A alta dissimilaridade da maioria dos isolados em relação a estirpes tipo, principalmente com relação aos padrões eletroforéticos de proteína total, admite a possibilidade da presença de novas espécies entre eles.
