A transitoriedade entre o mundo primitivo e o moderno nas obras The Sea-Wolf e White Fang de Jack London

The American author Jack London wrote the books The Sea-Wolf and White Fang in 1904 and 1906, respectively. The former portrays the life of a literary critic, Humphrey Van Weyden, who after the wreckage of the ship in which he was is rescued by a seal-hunting schooner, where he is obliged to work and to live with the brutal captain Wolf Larsen, and in doing so he develops a more primitive profile. The latter work portrays the life of the eponymous character, a wolf that leaves the wild world in which it was born to follow its last master in the city, thus developing features of the modern world. Análise documental dos arquivos do DEOPS/SP entre os anos de 1968 a 1974 na busca por professores suspeitos de prática de crimes políticos

No Brasil, com o Golpe Militar de 1964, iniciou-se um período ditatorial que se intensificou com o Ato Institucional nº 5. Com esta nova forma política imposta no país, foi necessário intervir em diversas esferas sociais, para validar o regime. A esfera educacional recebeu intervenções políticas para que se tornasse mais um instrumento de manutenção da ditadura. Através da educação, o governo pretendia interferir nas idéias e pensamentos dos alunos, para validar a própria permanência no poder. No entanto, houve professores que se negaram a agir como legitimadores do governo militar e iniciaram um movimento no sentido oposto: o de atuar contra este regime. Assim como em muitos outros setores sociais, os professores também participaram intensamente da luta contra a ditadura e, consequentemente, sofreram repressões. Esta pesquisa busca trabalhar com a análise de documentos produzidos por um órgão de repressão desse período relativos a professores acusados de crimes políticos. Trata-se do Departamento Estadual de Ordem Política e Social - DEOPS, mais especificamente o do estado de São Paulo, um dos mais expressivos órgãos de repressão da ditadura militar. O período selecionado para este trabalho vai do ano de 1968, no qual foi instituído o AI-5, até 1974, com o fim do Governo Médici. Buscou-se, portanto, fazer um levantamento do perfil de casos de professores considerados criminosos políticos, a partir da análise de prontuários e dossiês do DEOPS/SP.

Estudo de caso: aplicação do método DMAIC-White Belt- na redução de latas amassadas em uma produção de leite em pó

This work consists of the implementation of the steps Define, Measure , Analyze , Improve and Control ( DMAIC ) to develop a Six Sigma project in an industry the food industry. The objective was to demonstrate a potential for reducing the occurrence of crushed cans in potting milk powder industry in a White Belt project. The food industry accounts for about 9 % of Brazil's gross domestic product ( GDP ), generating thousands of jobs . Among the major sectors of the food industry is the manufacturing sector of milk , occupies approximately 10 % of the total turnover of the food industry . Brazil is considered today one of the eight largest producers of milk powder in the world. The milk powder is packed , mostly for aluminum cans that are lined internally with varnishes and other materials to protect the milk of metals from aluminum. When the cans are dented food protection is compromised and may lead ingestion causing dis-eases such as botulism. Aiming to solve the problem of dented cans methodology was used as a case study with a quantitative approach through the DMAIC method. Some quality tools used in each step of the project as brainstorming , cause and effect diagram , flowchart , ef-fort and impact matrix, 5W1H , among other Pareto diagram is presented . A survey about the disposal of cans in the company verifying a mean loss and, from this histor-ical , a goal loss was calculated was performed . With the target set we calculated the annual saving design . During application of DMAIC was found that the highest rate of loss occurred in transportation between the factory and the factory that fills cans milk . Several actions were taken to resolve problems that resulted in dented cans and the first two months of phase control it was found that the smaller losses calculated target resulting in a saving for the company. White Light and Multicolor Emission Tuning in Triply Doped Yb3+/Tm3+/Er3+ Novel Fluoro-phosphate Transparent Glass-ceramics

New Yb3+, Er3+ and Tm3+ doped fluoro-phosphate glasses belonging to the system NaPO3–YF3–BaF2–CaF2 and containing up to 10 wt% of rare-earth ion fluorides were prepared and characterized by differential scanning calorimetry, absorption spectroscopy and up-conversion emission spectroscopy under excitation with a 975 nm laser diode. Transparent and homogeneous glass-ceramics have been reproducibly obtained with a view to manage the red, green and blue emission bands and generate white light. X-ray diffraction as well as electron microscopy techniques have confirmed the formation of fluorite-type cubic nanocrystals at the beginning of the crystallization process while complex nanocrystalline phases are formed after a longer heat-treatment. The prepared glass-ceramics exhibit high optical transparency even after 170 h of thermal treatment. An improvement of up-conversion emission intensity – from 10 to 160 times larger – was measured in the glass-ceramics when compared to the parent glass, suggesting an important incorporation of the rare-earth ions into the crystalline phase(s). The involved mechanisms and lifetime were described in detail as a function of heat-treatment time. Finally, a large range of designable color rendering (from orange to turquoise through white) can be observed in these materials by controlling the laser excitation power and the crystallization rate.
