The paper considers the use and the information support of the most important mathematical Application Packages (AP), such as Maple, Matlab, Mathcad, Mathematica, Statistica and SPSS mostly used during Calculus tuition in Universities. The main features of the packages and the information support in the sites of the producers are outlined, as well as their capacity for work in Internet, together with educational sites and literature related to them. The most important resources of the TeX system for preparation of mathematical articles and documents are presented.

The complex of questions connected with the analysis, estimation and structural-parametrical optimization of dynamic system is considered in this article. Connection of such problems with tasks of control by beams of trajectories is emphasized. The special attention is concentrated on the review and analysis of spent scientific researches, the attention is stressed to their constructability and applied directedness. Efficiency of the developed algorithmic and software is demonstrated on the tasks of modeling and optimization of output beam characteristics in linear resonance accelerators.

On the basis of topical investigations on the reflection in the mathematics education, in this article there are presented some contemporary ideas about refining the methodology of mastering knowledge and skills for solving mathematical problems. The thesis is developed that for the general logical and for some particular mathematical methods to become means of solving mathematical problems, first they need to be a purpose of the education.

For metal and metal halide vapor lasers excited by high frequency pulsed discharge, the thermal effect mainly caused by the radial temperature distribution is of considerable importance for stable laser operation and improvement of laser output characteristics. A short survey of the obtained analytical and numerical-analytical mathematical models of the temperature profile in a high-powered He-SrBr2 laser is presented. The models are described by the steady-state heat conduction equation with mixed type nonlinear boundary conditions for the arbitrary form of the volume power density. A complete model of radial heat flow between the two tubes is established for precise calculating the inner wall temperature. The models are applied for simulating temperature profiles for newly designed laser. The authors software prototype LasSim is used for carrying out the mathematical models and simulations.

Mathematical modeling may have different purposes in chemical and biochemical engineering sciences. One of them is to confirm or to reject kinetic models for certain processes, or to evaluate the importance of some transport phenomena on the net chemical or biochemical reaction rate. In the present paper different microbial processes are considered and modeled for evaluation of kinetic constants for batch and continuous processes accomplished by free and immobilized microbial cells. The practical examples are from the field of wastewater treatment and biosynthesis of products, like enzymes, lactic acid, gluconic acid, etc. By the aid of mathematical modeling the kinetics and the type of inhibition are specified for microbial wastewater denitrification and biodegradation of halogenated hydrocarbons. The importance of free and immobilized cells and their separate contribution to the overall microbial process is also evaluated for some fermentation processes: gluconic acid production, dichloroethane biodegradation, lactic acid fermentation and monochloroacetic acid biodegradation.

Basic concepts for an interval arithmetic standard are discussed in the paper. Interval arithmetic deals with closed and connected sets of real numbers. Unlike floating-point arithmetic it is free of exceptions. A complete set of formulas to approximate real interval arithmetic on the computer is displayed in section 3 of the paper. The essential comparison relations and lattice operations are discussed in section 6. Evaluation of functions for interval arguments is studied in section 7. The desirability of variable length interval arithmetic is also discussed in the paper. The requirement to adapt the digital computer to the needs of interval arithmetic is as old as interval arithmetic. An obvious, simple possible solution is shown in section 8.

We propose a new approach to the mathematical modelling of microbial growth. Our approach differs from familiar Monod type models by considering two phases in the physiological states of the microorganisms and makes use of basic relations from enzyme kinetics. Such an approach may be useful in the modelling and control of biotechnological processes, where microorganisms are used for various biodegradation purposes and are often put under extreme inhibitory conditions. Some computational experiments are performed in support of our modelling approach.

This paper presents a survey of the existing services provided by the digital libraries and repositories on mathematics of the content provider partners in the EuDML project. The purpose is to support the development of the concepts, criteria and methods for the continuous evaluation of these and new relevant existing services. The work was concentrated on the classification of the relevant services in order to specify a common evaluating structure.

The paper presents in brief the Bulgarian Digital Mathematical Library BulDML and the Czech Digital Mathematical Library DML-CZ. Both libraries use the open source software DSpace and both are partners in the European Digital Mathematics Library EuDML. We describe their content and metadata schemas; outline the architecture system and overview the statistics of its use.
