The aim of this paper is to present the readings, the reflections that have emerged, and, also, the results obtained by the search Multiple Images: The representation of black women in Brazil. The project aimed to find the black woman‟ images presented in historically constructed representations, for this was made a cut in images production of black people, choosing three artists, two works of each in three different historical moments, which according to the recanted the look of your time. The works and the artists were: Esclaves nègres, de différentes nations (1820-1830) e Negresses libres, vivant de leur travail (1820-1830) – Jean-Baptiste Debret; Baiana sambando (1926-1939) and Sambista descansando (1926-1939) – Cecília Meireles; Bastidores (1996) e Amas-de-leite (2008) – Rosana Paulino. The metropolitan region of São Paulo is the most populous of the country, this happens because of its great importance in the national economy and the job opportunities that are offered to the population. These factors result in intense population growth and urban expansion, reaching some non-habitable places of the metropolis, as areas of pipelines, which are very important for the transportation of natural gas, oil and its derivatives. Before the population growth of the region, these sites were unoccupied, do not presenting problems for the population. However, with the disorderly occupation is generated great anthropogenic pressure on the pipeline stitches, causing risks to people who are around them. Therefore it is extremely important to monitor the strip of pipelines through products and techniques of remote sensing and geoprocessing, enabling, through high spatial resolution images, identification of objects or phenomena that occur on Earth's surface that can alter the functioning and safety of pipelines. Therefore, this study aims to monitor a stretch of the area of the pipeline mesh GASPAL/OSVAT and Capuava Refinery (RECAP), located on the outskirts of the metropolitan area of São Paulo in the city of Mauá, who suffer great human pressure, proving thus the techniques of remote sensing and geographic information system (GIS) as effective tools for monitoring phenomena occurred in urban areas of great complexity. The monitoring was done by object-based classification applied in orbital images Ikonos II and RapidEye, of high spatial resolution and, image processing, detection of objects, segmentation, classification and editing were developed through the eCognition and ArcGis softwares. This paper aims to address initially the implications and consequences of the planned use of image reading in classrooms of Art in the early years of elementary school. Enumerating some contributions to enrich and develop narrative skills, descriptive, analytical and interpretative. Thus, in a next goal will be researched the importance and essentiality of working with the reading of images, not only in art classes but at other opportunities, working intertextuality. The cinematographic language is notedly plural and heterogeneous. There are many filmic elements that “narrate” all the time, in different ways. Besides enumerating some of them, this study seeks to analyse if the criticism is attentive to all of these tools or if it sticks only to some of them. It’s also reflects if this activity uses more objectives or subjectives aspects as basis for its conclusions. Here, a very specific field was chosen: the study is done by a comparative analysis of the reception of Brazilian’s and European’s criticism from two Lars Von Trier’s films, Antichrist and Melancholia. After explaining how the narrative elements are used in the cinema, it’s demonstrated that, in general, the criticism is negligent and does not analyze all of those tools. O jornalismo se estabeleceu no meio impresso (jornais e revistas) com textos tradicionais e, muitas vezes reféns do lide. A junção de fotografia e quadrinhos ainda é embrionária, mas surge como um recurso para a inovação do jornalismo, já tão dependente de antigos formatos. Nesta monografia, a obra O Fotógrafo é analisada para observar como essas mídias, quadrinhos e fotografia, podem servir de plataforma para uma narrativa jornalística. Em 1986 o fotojornalista Didier Lefèvre viajou ao Afeganistão para acompanhar a caravana de uma equipe da organização Médicos Sem Fronteiras. O intuito era fotografar o trabalho da ONG e revelar a situação do povo afegão em meio à invasão soviética, que durou 10 anos. Na época, seis fotos, de quatro mil, foram publicadas. Treze anos depois, o quadrinista Emmanuel Guibert sugeriu que a história, já esquecida dentro de caixas, virasse livro. Assim nasceu O Fotógrafo, uma obra em quadrinhos, mas que incorpora as fotografias de Lefèvre e seu relato jornalístico das consequências do conflito no país. No contexto de meu envolvimento em três projetos de pesquisa, que objetiva uma reflexão em torno dos processos de produção imagética de/e com crianças, muitas questões no tocante aos modos de conceber a infância aparecem. A criança, pelas imagens, nos apresentam um mundo recortado por olhares rápidos, que produzem imagens nem sempre exatas e nítidas, sendo assim, no percurso das pesquisas, há imagens que chamam atenção por aquilo que nelas pode ser diferente, produzindo outros sentidos, sentidos outros. No contexto de produção de diversas imagens realizadas pelas crianças envolvidas na pesquisa, este trabalho objetiva refletir sobre o conceito de infância, partindo do que emerge das imagens que aqui chamaremos de „imagens desfocadas‟. Para um fotógrafo criar uma imagem com a intensidade de movimento apresentada nas „imagens desfocadas‟ das crianças, existem inúmeras técnicas: câmeras especializadas, photoshops. Apesar disto, o que verificamos com as crianças, é que estas só precisaram do movimento do corpo, do clicar do botão e o desejo de brincar para produzir tais imagens. Pensando nessa questão, vemos que, ao passo que a sociedade nos molda, vamos nos “desinfantilizando” e perdemos a “capacidade” de nos movimentar a ponto de apropriar-nos de recursos tecnológicos para substituir o que poderíamos fazer no movimentodo corpo. Neste contexto, conjeturar os conceitos de infância a partir dessas imagens desfocadas,pode criar caminhos para pensar possibilidades de uma educação do olhar e a necessidade de uma pedagogia menor, ”infantilizada”

The analysis of natural processes, such as landslides, has a great importance for the prevention of accidents in pipelines, since it might compromise its security, with serious social and environmental implications. Considering the large territorial dimensions that pipelines can reach, remote sensing tools have great applicability for data acquisition, allowing the analysis of large areas in regular time periods. This study aims to analyze the relations between the occurrence of landslides and its natural conditionings, on a stretch of the ORBEL pipeline, in the municipalities of Duque de Caxias, Nova Iguaçu and Belford Roxo – Rio de Janeiro. GeoEye sensor system images were used with spatial resolution of 0.5 m, from November/2009, January/2010 and March/2010, that are months of summer rains. The work involved the characterization of the study area and existing landslides, through bibliographic data collection; the application of visual analysis techniques for the extraction of landslide scars and fractures; preparation of maps for the landslide constraints and preparation of the susceptibility map. In the images from November only three landslide scars were extracted, while in January there were 166 and 111 in March. Difficulties were found with the shading in the images. From the relations among landslide scars, lithological units, relief systems, slope, downhill profile and the generated map of landslide susceptibility, presented in 1:70,000 scale, it was possible to conclude that slope is the main determinant of the process, allied secondarily to downhill profile, relief systems and lithology

Based in the contact with adults with little education that living in two suburbs of Rio Claro-SP, whose population is largely coming from other states, there were some questions, including: What are reasons for migration are pointed in the narratives of adults little schooling participants EJA classes? So, in the first moment of this research, we present some data collected through a questionnaire applied to students of EJA, we taking information about the state and county of origin of each student. In the second stage methodology was used Oral History pointed questions about the motives of migration reported by subjects who migrated, access and search for education and practice in reading and writing. It was also realized, an activity imagery (or walker interview) with the student, highlighting elements of the landscape of the neighborhood that brings memory's birthplace. The aim of this work is to study some of the density estimation tec- niques and to apply to the segmentation of medical images. Medical images are used to help the diagnostic of tumor diseases as well as to plan and deliver treatment. A computer image is an array of values representing colors in some scale. The smallest element of the image to which it is possible to assign a value is called pixel. Segmen- tation is the process of dividing the image in portions through the classi¯cation of each pixel. The simplest way of classi¯cation is by thresholding, given the number of portions and the threshold values. Another method is constructing a histogram of the pixel values and assign a portion to each pike. The threshold is the mean between two pikes. As the histogram does not form a smooth curve it is di±cult to discern between true pikes and random variation. Density estimation methods allow the estimation of a smooth curve. Image data can be considered as mixture of different densities. In this project parametric and nonparametric methods for density estimation will be addressed and some of them are applied to CT image data

Nuclear medicine is a medical specialty related to imagery that deals with imaging techniques, diagnosis and therapy, allowing observing the physiological state of tissues noninvasively by marking the molecules participating of these physiological processes with radioactive isotopes, thus creating the called radionuclides. The image of a radionuclide is one of the most important applications of radioactivity in nuclear medicine. The equipment’s of nuclear medicine imaging use the principle of radiation detection, turning it into an electrical signal which, through specific algorithms, allows forming tomographic images that provide information about the functional status of organs. New detection systems have been developed for tomographic acquisitions using solid state detectors. These devices use crystals of cadmium zinc telluride (CdZnTe). Some of the advantages of this detector are a significant improvement of signal to noise ratio, the increased spectral and spatial resolution, which in sum, result in greater clarity of the images obtained, opening new perspectives for imaging protocols previously unattainable. In contrast, all other gamma-cameras equipped with vacuum tubes have remained relatively unchanged for nearly fifty years. In these gamma-cameras, the images are obtained using two steps significantly less efficient: the gamma rays are converted to light through a first device, and then the light is converted into an electrical signal through a second device. One of functions the Medical Physicist is related to the quality control of equipment. This control ensures that the information and images provided are true and thus credible to be used in medical reports. To perform this type of analysis the physicist must understand the performance characteristics and operation of all equipment of the department concerned; besides, in the absence of specific legislation, proposing...(Complete abstract click electronic access below)
