Regents purchased south ten acres for $3000 in 1890. In 1902 UM received seven acres of land to the north from Dexter M. Ferry; became Ferry Field. In 1904 brick wall constructed on three sides and in 1906 gate and ticket office at northeast corner added (gift of Mr. Ferry). Wooden stands to accommodate 400 put up in 1893; burned in 1895. Rebuilt to seat 800 with later additions to facililties. By 1914, 13,600 accommodated. New stadium built in 1927.

Fox Monument [Professor's Monument (Cenotaph)]

Acquired 1846. Artist: William Peters. Southeast corner of Hatcher Graduate Library. On the right of the monument is a memorial erected in honor of the University of Michigan men who fought in the war with Spain by the class of 1899. On verso: Honor of Joseph Whiting, Douglas Houghton, Charles Fox, Samuel Denton. Located beside Library. There is a list of citations also on the verso.

Law Building

Jordan & Anderson, architects. Built 1863. Northwest corner of Diagonal on corner of State and North University. Served as Law School for sixty years; contained chapel until 1873 and library until 1883. Addition built in 1893 included tower. Signature on verso: W.A. Lewis 0/15/1897 [Lewis was a student at UM in the late 1890's]
