Propagation and polarization properties of hollow Gaussian beams in uniaxial crystals

Based on the paraxial vectorial theory of beams propagating in uniaxially anisotropic media, we have derived the analytical propagation equations of hollow Gaussian beams (HGBs) in uniaxial crystals, and given the typical numerical example to illustrate our analytical results. Due to the anisotropy crystals, the ordinary and extraordinary beams originated by incident HGBs propagate with different diffraction lengths, thus the linear polarization state and axial symmetry of incident HGBs do not remain during propagating in crystals. High temperature annealing effect on structure, optical property and laser-induced damage threshold of Ta2O5 films

Ta2O5 films were deposited by conventional electron beam evaporation method and then annealed in air at different temperature from 873 to 1273 K. It was found that the film structure changed from amorphous phase to hexagonal phase when annealed at 1073 K, then transformed to orthorhombic phase after annealed at 1273 K. The transmittance was improved after annealed at 873 K, and it decreased as the annealing temperature increased further. The total integrated scattering (TIS) tests and AFM results showed that both scattering and root mean square (RMS) roughness of films increased with the annealing temperature increasing. X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS) analysis showed that the film obtained better stoichiometry and the O/Ta ratio increased to 2.50 after annealing. It was found that the laser-induced damage threshold (LIDT) increased to the maximum when annealed at 873 K, while it decreased when the annealing temperature increased further. Orígenes indoeuropeos (y no indoeuropeos) de la vocal [y] eslava

[ES] La vocal 'y' de las lenguas eslavas procede esencialmente de i.e. *ū. Pero en el dominio de la flexión tanto nominal como verbal se puede encontrar asimismo una vocal 'y' de origen intraeslavo y derivada de diversas secuencias en final de palabra. Al estudio de estas evoluciones así como al análisis de los distintos estratos de préstamos léxicos que incrementan la presencia de la vocal y en el léxico eslavo se dedica buena parte de este trabajo. En él se rastrean, además, los datos comparativos e internos que permiten detectar otro origen para la vocal eslava 'y' los diptongos i.e. *ou y *au.

A note on monoculture of Penaeus monodon in a hardwater seasonal pond

A study was undertaken to assess the growth performance of brackishwater tiger shrimp, Penaeus monodon under monoculture in a hardwater seasonal pond in Tamil Nadu, India. A production of 209 kg/ha/110 days was attained at a low stocking density of 1.5/m2.
