La tesi prende in esame l’attività artistica di Nicolò dell’Abate (Modena, 1509 – Parigi, 1571), con particolare riferimento alla sua grafica. L’artista lavorò circa sessanta anni suddivisi fra l’Emilia, in alcune delle sue piccole entità politiche autonome come Modena, Scandiano, Soragna, Busseto, Bologna, e la Francia, potente stato nazionale che, all’epoca qui presa in considerazione, era guidato dalla casata dei Valois: la carriera italiana di Nicolò dell’Abate si sviluppa in un arco temporale che si estende dal 1529 alla primavera del 1552, quando si trasferisce definitivamente oltralpe, morendo a Parigi alla fine di marzo del 1571. L’elaborato è diviso in quattro capitoli, dei quali il primo, introduttivo, ripercorre per sommi capi le principali tappe della sfaccettata attività italiana; il secondo e il terzo sono invece incentrati sull’esame dell’attività artistica francese del maestro, con particolare riferimento alla grafica, indagata sulla base della ricostruzione del contesto storico, culturale e artistico della Francia dell’epoca, con specifico riguardo alla corte reale della famiglia Valois nei periodi compresi fra l’arrivo di Nicolò, nel 1552, e la morte prematura del re Enrico II, nel 1559, e fra il 1560 e il 1571, durante il quale deteneva il potere de facto la regina madre Caterina de’ Medici, moglie di Enrico. Il quarto e ultimo capitolo costituisce il catalogo dei disegni italiani e francesi: è preceduto da un saggio introduttivo che esamina lo stile disegnativo di Nicolò dell’Abate in Italia e in Francia, le sue caratteristiche fondamentali e il suo mutamento, oltre alle tecniche grafiche impiegate dall’artista, la loro evoluzione e variazione e il loro ruolo nella sua poetica. Infine, in appendice, è presente il regesto delle fonti francesi sull’attività dell’artista e di alcuni dei maggiori esponenti della cosiddetta scuola di Fontainebleau.

There are only a few insights concerning the influence that agronomic and management variability may have on superficial scald (SS) in pears. Abate Fétel pears were picked during three seasons (2018, 2019 and 2020) from thirty commercial orchards in the Emilia Romagna region, Italy. Using a multivariate statistical approach, high heterogeneity between farms for SS development after cold storage with regular atmosphere was demonstrated. Indeed, some factors seem to affect SS in all growing seasons: high yields, soil texture, improper irrigation and Nitrogen management, use of plant growth regulators, late harvest, precipitations, Calcium and cow manure, presence of nets, orchard age, training system and rootstock. Afterwards, we explored the spatio/temporal variability of fruit attributes in two pear orchards. Environmental and physiological spatial variables were recorded by a portable RTK GPS. High spatial variability of the SS index was observed. Through a geostatistical approach, some characteristics, including soil electrical conductivity and fruit size, have been shown to be negatively correlated with SS. Moreover, regression tree analyses were applied suggesting the presence of threshold values of antioxidant capacity, total phenolic content, and acidity against SS. High pulp firmness and IAD values before storage, denoting a more immature fruit, appeared to be correlated with low SS. Finally, a convolution neural networks (CNN) was tested to detect SS and the starch pattern index (SPI) in pears for portable device applications. Preliminary statistics showed that the model for SS had low accuracy but good precision, and the CNN for SPI denoted good performances compared to the Ctifl and Laimburg scales. The major conclusion is that Abate Fétel pears can potentially be stored in different cold rooms, according to their origin and quality features, ensuring the best fruit quality for the final consumers. These results might lead to a substantial improvement in the Italian pear industry.

In questo lavoro di tesi viene presentata un’analisi di sostenibilità economica, ambientale e sociale di un sistema di cattura e purificazione della CO2 post-combustione. Al fine di ottenere i dati utili al calcolo di indici significativi di sostenibilità, si è scelto di modellare, attraverso il software Aspen Plus®, un processo di assorbimento chimico con ammine, tecnologia matura e spesso impiegata a questo scopo per settori industriali di taglie superiori. Al sistema di assorbimento viene poi fatta seguire un’unità di compressione e purificazione, finalizzata al raggiungimento di specifiche condizioni della corrente in uscita, legate alla successiva tipologia di trasporto considerata: gas pressurizzato via pipeline o gas liquefatto via nave. L’analisi economica si è basata sul calcolo di costi operativi, costi variabili, costo della CO2 evitata e consumo specifico di energia (SPECCA). La simulazione ha infatti consentito di ottenere un dimensionamento di massima delle apparecchiature e il consumo di utenze, valori necessari alla stima degli indici. Gli indici economici calcolati sono poi stati utilizzati per comprendere quale parte del processo fosse la più critica e che impatto avessero le unità di compressione e purificazione rispetto alla presenza del solo impianto di cattura. Analisi simili sono state svolte anche in termini di sostenibilità ambientale e sociale. La prima è stata svolta calcolando l’effettiva rimozione di CO2 del sistema, tenendo in considerazione le emissioni dirette e indirette connesse al funzionamento degli apparati. L’analisi sociale è stata ridotta a un’analisi qualitativa della sicurezza, attuata attraverso il calcolo dell’Indice di sicurezza intrinseca.

Nowadays the consumer market demands a gradually increase in the products' quality control. The manual control that exits, used in animal production, shows ineficiency in warrating an increasing percentual of the desirable quality, so this can only be reached when an effective animal tracebility system is applied, from birth to slaughter. Individual electronic identification presents high importance in this focus, providing information recorded directly from the animal. Electronic traceability uses electronic devices that emit a signal activated by a fixed reader placed where it is needed to record a certain event, or uses a manual reader which allows a higher independence of the operator. Knowing the importance of the electronic identification as a tool for applying traceability in animal production, this research had as objective to evaluate the use of transponders in order to garantee the manual reading as well as the fixed antenna reading. The following implant places were analized in piglet, just after their birth: 1) forehead, 2) external ear lobule, 3) the posterior auricular base, and 4) a transponder inserted in a earing implanted in the ear lobule. The factors of skin damage and migration were analized, as well as the reading efficiency. It was found that the best implant place was the posterior ear base.

A full factorial design 2³ was used to evaluate the effect of process variables in chemical peeling of yacon roots, cultivated in Curitiba, State of Paraná. Eleven treatments, with three central points, were done in which they had been evaluated at three different levels of sodium hydroxide solution, % (g/100 mL) [6, 10, 14], temperature of the same solution, °C [70, 80, 90], and residence time in the sodium hydroxide solution, minutes [2, 4, 6]. All the studied variables had affected significantly (p<0.05) the yield of yacon roots subjected to chemical peeling. The variable that most affected the yield was the time of permanence in the sodium hydroxide solution. The mathematical model obtained for the yield (%) was good with R² aj = 0.8497, and non significant lack of fit (p=0.9312).Therefore, the model can be used for predictive purposes. In the central point a satisfactory yield (84% to 87%) with a high percentage of removed peel was obtained (96% to 98%) indicating that the treatment with 10% of sodium hydroxide solution, temperature of 80º C per 4 minutes can be used in the chemical peeling of yacon roots.

Culture supernatant of Staphylococcus aureus 722 in 3% triptone plus 1% yeast extract was used for EEA purification, proceeding comparison between dye ligand Red A affinity chromatography and classic chromatography. The capture of SEA with Amberlite CG-50 allowed rapid enterotoxin concentration from the culture supernatant. However, the ratio of 15 mg of the resin to a total of 150 mg of the toxin satured the resin, giving only 10 to 30% of SEA recuperation from the supernatant. The elution of concentrated material throught the Red A column resulted in a recovery of 60,87% of the toxin, and required 76 hours, indicating advantage on classic chromatography. Ion exchange column plus gel filtration recovered only 6,5 % of the SEA, and required 114 hours to conclude the procedure. The eletrophoresis of purified SEA indicated high grade of toxin obtained from Red A column, with 90 % of purity, compared to 60 % of classic column.

Quality traits of boneless rib cut (L. dorsi muscle) from Nelore young bulls. To study the meat quality traits of Nelore breed young bulls, and the effect of age (690-780 days) on them, 113 animals were slaughtered after 109 days of intensive feeding with 20% concentrate and 80% roughage. All the carcasses were graded at the slaughter floor by the Federal Inspection and chilled for 24 hours (Tinitial=5°C, Tfinal=2°C). Fifty one half carcasses (right side), type B - B R A S I L `s grading system - from animals of 23 to 26 months were boned and separated into commercial cuts. Two steaks (2.5cm thick) were removed from each boneless rib cut (m. L. dorsi), vacuum packaged and aged for 7 days (0-2°C). The pH varied from 5.44 to 5.83 and only two samples had pH ³ 5.70. The L* (brightness) average value was 34.85. The water and fat content were 75.65% and 1.71%, respectively. The average WB shear force was 6.70kg, and it was not affected by age (690-734 days), but presented a trend (t test, p=0.22) for increasing values between 735 and 780 days. Animal age did not affect other quality traits (t test, p>0.20). It was concluded that the rib cut from Nelore young bulls may not have a good acceptability in exigent markets, and that carcasses graded B, presumed to be the best grade, do not necessarily present the best meat quality characteristics.

Purpose:1) To check self-knowledge and needs for orientation among regular class teachers working with low vision students; 2) To gather information to assist the training on visual deficiency of regular class teachers. Methods: A survey was conducted for the academic year of 1999 among those teachers working in public schools, Campinas/SP/Brazil, of which 11 were municipal and 9 state schools, respectively 79.0% and 90.0% of these schools. A self-administered questionnaire was used as data collection instrument. Results: The sample was composed of 50 teachers with a regular class experience averaging 20 years. Most of them, 94.0%, said that they had no specific preparation in the area of low vision. Only 18 teachers declared to have received some kind of information/orientation in order to work with their low vision students and of those only 15 teachers mentioned the kind of orientation received. The whole group of 50 declared interest in receiving information. From the information/orientation requested 66.0% mentioned extended working class materials, 50.0% visual performance and eye disease of their students and 46.0% visual acuity/visual field. Conclusion: It was detected that teachers of regular classes received none or little information about their low vision students but demonstrated interest in its obtention. It was also shown that those teachers are not prepared to work with visually impaired children.
