A estética é algo que interfere no bem-estar das pessoas e o sorriso não é excepção, sendo até considerado um factor estético essencial nos dias de hoje, perante uma sociedade cada vez mais exigente relativamente aos padrões de beleza. A área da estética dentária, encontra-se em constantes mudanças devido à evolução da qualidade dos materiais e das técnicas utilizadas, levando a melhorias na reprodução das características naturais dos dentes. O médico dentista tem a responsabilidade de adquirir conhecimento e habilidades profissionais para a elaboração de tratamentos estéticos dentários que satisfaçam as expectativas dos pacientes quanto ao seu sorriso. Actualmente, o médico dentista possui várias opções para planear os tratamentos, entre as quais, o planeamento digital através do Digital Smile Design. O Digital Smile Design (DSD), criado pelo Doutor Christian Coachman, veio responder à procura elevada por tratamentos cada vez mais personalizados por parte dos pacientes. O DSD amplia a visão relativamente aos diagnósticos, melhora a comunicação entre as diferentes especialidades na área da medicina dentária e cria planos previsíveis durante o tratamento dentário. Trata-se de um programma onde são trabalhadas imagens fotográficas do paciente para a elaboração de um tratamento estético que responda as necessidades biológicas, funcionais e emocionais do paciente. Este poderá acompanhar e visualizar todos os passos do tratamento e deste modo, torna-se parte integrante do processo. O paciente expressa a sua opinião e as suas expectativas quanto ao resultado final. Neste trabalho realizou-se uma revisão narrativa da literatura sobre a técnica Digital Smile Design utilizando as palavras-chaves: Digital Smile Design; Visagism; dental planning; meaning of smile; mock-up. Os objetivos deste trabalho foi o de conhecer a técnica Digital Smile Design, os princípios do visagismo e a importância do planeamento nestes contextos. O sucesso de um tratamento está dependente de um correcto planeamento e de uma execução clínica e laboratorial cuidadosa.

The Museum of Doubt

Is there a God? Does my bum look big in this? Why doesn’t my house cost only the materials used to build it? Is Video Art dead? When Peter Hill curated his first Museum of Doubt exhibition at Zeppelin Projects in Brunswick, these were some of the questions his artist friends wrote on one wall of the gallery. Those artists included Jon Cattapan, Phil Edwards, Julian Goddard, Ceri Hahn, and Peter Ellis. Others, who are also in this second outing of The Museum of Doubt, include Louise Weaver, Patrick Pound, Josh Foley and Michael Vale. How do we know what is true or false in any given visual statement? How willing are we to suspend our disbelief? And does that even matter if the artworks can be enjoyed for their own formal beauty, angst, or inquisitiveness?“I have a great sympathy with both doubt and faith as beacons for navigating this sublime universe,” says Peter Hill. “Remembering that the sublime in art, as in life and death, hovers between beauty and terror. Manifesto of a defeated poet

This feature-length experimental film is the result of an intimate collaboration between Bosnian filmmaker/poet/painter/musician/performace artist Saidin Salkic (On Karasevdah: Srebrenica Blues, 2007 & Konvent 2010) and veteran Australian experimental filmmaker and film educator John Cumming (Obsession, Recognition & Sabotage 1985-87, First time Tragedy Second Tome Farce, 1989, The Hollow Centre 1999). Created over a period of four years it draws on the traditions and possibilities of improvisation – in cinematography, experimental cinema, dance, music and performance – with moments of intensity and repose, fluidity and halting re-composure. Cumming’s camera and Salkic’s movement work in front of it are at once expressionistic and in dialectical tension as are Salkic’s poetry, his haunting improvisations on piano and melodica and Cumming’s industrial soundscapes. SYNOPSIS: In the midst of fascist-capitalist madness, the Foreigner (a poet/dancer with sun on his palms and blood from his dreams on his face) hovers in neon twilight with last whispers of sanity on his lips, guarding and protecting the world – forever. Emerging technologies for recovery of value-added components from olive leaves and their applications in food/feed industries

Olive leaves are the most abundant agricultural waste source rich in polyphenolics. Due to the numerous health benefits associated with these compounds, the interest in recovering polyphenols from olive leaves has increased in the scientific community over the last decade. Recent studies have focused on improved extraction techniques and processing methods that are most suited for agro-biological industries involved in the development of nutraceutical and functional products. The major problems in olive leaves processing include bitter taste and the low stability of various phenolic compounds. Oleuropein and hydroxytyrosol are the most important phenolic compounds extracted from olive leaves. The present review highlights the importance of olive leaves, their composition, preparation methods, major phenolic compounds, and commercial applications. This review article focuses on integrating studies on olive leaf extract (OLE) pertinent to nutrition, health, and beauty. The different board categories of delivery systems available for the encapsulation of OLE are given. These novel delivery systems could improve fortification, supplementation, and dietary diversification in food and pharmaceutical products.

Participación de gais y lesbianas en la esfera pública en Quibdó: de la fiesta de san pacho al reconocimiento estatal

Esta investigación busca analizar las distintas formas a través de las cuales las personas gais y lesbianas de Quibdó lograron una visibilización en la esfera pública de su ciudad. Este proceso será visto en diferentes escenarios. Primero, en la participación en espacios culturales como San Pacho, shows y reinados de belleza. Segundo, en el activismo realizado por la Fundación Ébano Diverso, que ha logrado abrir espacios de diálogo con instancias como la Alcaldía de Quibdó y la Gobernación del Chocó. Finalmente, se verá cómo la creación de tejidos familiares y afectivos está relacionada con su activismo y las formas distintas de visibilizarse.

Lugares de montanha: proposta de reactivação de uma aldeia do Vale do rio Ceira, Serra da Lousã

O território da Serra da Lousã, quase desabitado e profundamente descaracterizado, esconde lugares em ruína e indícios de vivências passadas que a montanha teima em reclamar. Importa recuperar esses lugares reinventando-os, sob pena de se perderem com o passar do tempo e o avanço do meio natural. Este trabalho debruça-se sobre um dos lugares abandonados desta serra, a Silveira de Baixo, procurando nas suas raízes oportunidades para uma reactivação. Estuda a hipótese de tornar a aldeia e esta parte da serra, acessíveis a pessoas portadoras de deficiências, físicas ou cognitivas, tendo assim um duplo objetivo: permitir o acesso para todos a lugares de grande beleza natural e reactivar uma economia local que permita um desenvolvimento sustentado, através de actividades e produtos nativos deste território, conservando assim alguns dos seus saberes ancestrais. Desenha-se deste modo o início de uma comunidade, experimentando um equilíbrio entre o antigo e o contemporâneo, negando a musealização do lugar que o pode tornar estéril e constitui um impedimento no retorno de vida a este território. Assim, o trabalho experimenta o papel da arquitectura na reactivação de um lugar antigo e com marcas, preservando os seus elementos notáveis e com eles construindo novas espacialidades que ajudem ao estabelecimento de vivências contemporâneas; Mountain setlements: Proposal for reactivating an abandoned village in Ceira river valley, Lousã mountain range Abstract: The Lousã mountain range, almost uninhabited and profoundly decharacterized, speaks to us through its ruins about ways of living that ceased to exist. It is important to recover and reinvent them, otherwise they will slowly vanish as time goes by and nature steps in. This investigation focus on one of these abandoned settlements, Silveira de Baixo. It looks in its roots for opportunities of reactivation, investigating the hypothesis of turning this village and the mountain accessible to the physically and mentally impaired, thus assuming a double objective, of allowing these disabled people to experience a place of extreme beauty and of reinventing and reactivating native productive activities thus conserving them and allowing for the village’s economical sustainability. This work designs a new beginning for a community and experiments the balance between the old and the new, without excessive patrimonialisation that often kills the return of life to such settlements. Experimenting the role of architecture in providing life to an abandoned place through a sustainable intervention.
