This work aims to study several diffusive regimes, especially Brownian motion. We deal with problems involving anomalous diffusion using the method of fractional derivatives and fractional integrals. We introduce concepts of fractional calculus and apply it to the generalized Langevin equation. Through the fractional Laplace transform we calculate the values of diffusion coefficients for two super diffusive cases, verifying the validity of the method

The study of movements of ideals fluids is more simple that the viscous fluids because do not have the presence of tension of shear. The normal tensions are the one that must be considered in this analysis. The theory corresponding to these flows is the same used in other fields of the physics called Theory of Potentials Fields, which the vector identity is fundamental. Any flow into irrotational (null vorticity) physically possibly has a current function and a potential of velocity that satisfied the equation of Laplace. Reciprocally, any solution of equation of Laplace represents a current function or a potential of velocity of a flow into physically possible. Once the equation of Laplace is linear, the addiction of any numbers of solutions is also a solution. So, several potentials flows into can be constructed superposing configurations of elementary flows into. The purpose of the superposition of elementary flows into is a production of similar configurations to those of practical interest. The combination of mathematical elegancy with utility in the potential flow into attracted many for its study. Some of the most famous mathematician of history studied the theory and application of “hydrodynamic”, how was called the potential fluid into before 1900

The present work has the scope to show the relationship between four three-dimensional waves. This fact will be made in the form of coupling, using for it the Cauchy-Riemann conditions for quaternionic functions [#!BorgesZeMarcio!#], through certain Laplace's equation in [#!MaraoBorgesLP!#]. The coupling will relate those functions that determine the wave as well as their respective propagation speeds.

In this paper we study the periodic orbits of the third-order differential equation x ′′′−µx ′′+ x ′ − µx = εF (x, x ′ , x ′′), where ε is a small parameter and the function F is of class C 2 .

This paper presents an application of Laplace's equation obtained from a quaternionic function that satisfies the Cauchy-Riemann conditions determined earlier by Borges and Machado [#!BorgesZeMarcio!#]. Therefore, we show that it is possible to express in a single equation gravity, electric and magnetic potential fields, and this expression can only be provided due to a function that will be called here the coupling function.

In this Note it is worked out a new set of Laplace-Like equations for quaternions through Riemann-Cauchy hypercomplex relations otained earlier [1]. As in the theory of functions of a complex variable, it is expected that this new set of Laplace-Like equations might be applied to a large number of Physical problems, providing new insights in the Classical Fields Theory.

The use of fractional calculus when modeling phenomena allows new queries concerning the deepest parts of the physical laws involved in. Here we will be dealing with an apparent paradox in which the time of transference from zero in a system with fractional derivatives can be strictly shortened relatively to the minimal time transference done in an equivalent system in the frame of the entire derivatives.

The non-linear evolution of nearly one-dimensional undamped waves in a viscous fluid adequately heated from below is shown to be governed by the Kadomtsev-Petviashvili equation. Its solitary-wave solution is explicitly shown. © 1990.

A semirelativistic two-body Dirac equation with an enlarged set of phenomenological potentials, including Breit-type terms, is investigated for the general case of unequal masses. Solutions corresponding to definite total angular momentum and parity are shown to fall into two classes, each one being obtained by solving a system of four coupled first-order radial differential equations. The reduction of each of these systems to a pair of coupled Schrödinger-type equations is also discussed. © 1992 American Institute of Physics.

We define the Virasoro algebra action on imaginary Verma modules for affine and construct an analogue of the Knizhnik-Zamolodchikov equation in the operator form. Both these results are based on a realization of imaginary Verma modules in terms of sums of partial differential operators.

The present paper aims at contributing to a discussion, opened by several authors, on the proper equation of motion that governs the vertical collapse of buildings. The most striking and tragic example is that of the World Trade Center Twin Towers, in New York City, about 10 years ago. This is a very complex problem and, besides dynamics, the analysis involves several areas of knowledge in mechanics, such as structural engineering, materials sciences, and thermodynamics, among others. Therefore, the goal of this work is far from claiming to deal with the problem in its completeness, leaving aside discussions about the modeling of the resistive load to collapse, for example. However, the following analysis, restricted to the study of motion, shows that the problem in question holds great similarity to the classic falling-chain problem, very much addressed in a number of different versions as the pioneering one, by von Buquoy or the one by Cayley. Following previous works, a simple single-degree-of-freedom model was readdressed and conceptually discussed. The form of Lagrange's equation, which leads to a proper equation of motion for the collapsing building, is a general and extended dissipative form, which is proper for systems with mass varying explicitly with position. The additional dissipative generalized force term, which was present in the extended form of the Lagrange equation, was shown to be derivable from a Rayleigh-like energy function.
