In residential care settings for older people we require that human rights are positively incorporated into the reality of people's lives.In 2009 the National Quality Standards for Residential Care Settings for Older People were approved. At the heart of these standards, and the regulations underpinning them, is the belief that these residential settings are peoples homes, and every possible effort must be made to ensure that the residents can live their lives to the fullest extent possible and enjoy their time there. An Assessment of the Microbiology of Hand Contact Surfaces in the Retail Environment

This study aimed to assess the microbiology of food and hand contact surfaces in the retail environment and the potential for these surfaces to act as vehicles for the spread of foodborne pathogens. During the survey, 10 stores in the Republic of Ireland (ROI) were visited by student Environmental Health Officers (EHOs) who took swab samples from four surfaces: conveyor belts, long-life shopping bags, shopping trolley handles and keypads on card payment units. The swab samples were examined for the presence of the pathogens Salmonella, Campylobacter and Listeria. The Aerobic Colony Counts, as well as the levels of E. coli and Enterobacteriaceae, were also determined. In addition, structured questionnaires were used with retailers to establish the stores’ regimes for the cleaning of conveyor belts. Similarly, shoppers donating their long-life shopping bags for sampling were questioned about how they normally use these bags, and the results were compared with those from the microbiological survey. The results indicated that the hygiene of the surfaces sampled was good, with Salmonella, Campylobacter and Listeria not detected in any of the samples, and levels of both Enterobacteriaceae and E. coli were below the limits of detection in all but one sample. Aerobic Colony Counts varied but none of the results obtained would be deemed ‘unacceptable’ or ‘unsatisfactory’ under guidelines for ready-to-eat foods

Aquest projecte és conseqüència d'un estudi sobre una empresa de cotxes de baix cost, que ens demana una aplicació per a gestionar les seves peticions de material de tallers remots, que, associats a l'empresa, reparen els seus vehicles. Per a això, s'ha utilitzat una aplicació B2B - entorn J2EE, i un model de treball MVC(Modelo View Controller) de contrastada fiabilitat.

L'aplicació pot ser fàcilment ampliable per a adaptar-la a qualsevol tipus de producte o necessitat futura. Per a la programació d'aquest projecte es va aprofitar la potència i senzillesa que proporciona l'entorn .NET i els seus llenguatges orientats a objecte, en aquest cas VB.

Inventory and description of disease management programs in Switzerland

Background: Disease management, a system of coordinated health care interventions for populations with chronic diseases in which patient self-care is a key aspect, has been shown to be effective for several conditions. Little is known on the supply of disease management programs in Switzerland. Objectives: To systematically search, record and evaluate data on existing disease management programs in Switzerland. Methods: Programs met our operational definition of disease management if their interventions targeted a chronic disease, included a multidisciplinary team and lasted at least 6 months. To find existing programs, we searched Swiss official websites, Swiss web-pages using Google, medical electronic database (Medline), and checked references from selected documents. We also contacted personally known individuals, those identified as possibly working in the field, individuals working in major Swiss health insurance companies and people recommended by previously contacted persons (snow ball strategy). We developed an extraction grid and collected information pertaining to the following 8 domains: patient population, intervention recipient, intervention content, delivery personnel, method of communication, intensity and complexity, environment and clinical outcomes (measures?). Results: We identified 8 programs fulfilling our operational definition of disease management. Programs targeted patients with diabetes, hypertension, heart failure, obesity, alcohol dependence, psychiatric disorders or breast cancer, and were mainly directed towards patients. The interventions were multifaceted and included education in almost all cases. Half of the programs included regularly scheduled follow-up, by phone in 3 instances. Healthcare professionals involved were physicians, nurses, case managers, social workers, psychologists and dietitians. None fulfilled the 6 criteria established by the Disease Management Association of America. Conclusions: Our study shows that disease management programs, in a country with universal health insurance coverage and little incentive to develop new healthcare strategies, are scarce, although we may have missed existing programs. Nonetheless, those already implemented are very interesting and rather comprehensive. Appropriate evaluation of these programs should be performed in order to build upon them and try to design a generic disease management framework suited to the Swiss healthcare system.

La present memòria descriu els passos necessaris per fer l'anàlisi, el disseny i la implementació de un gestor de comandes per un empresa mitjançant l'entorn web. El projecte ha estat realitzat en llenguatge Java, ja que és un llenguatge orientat a l'objecte molt reutilitzable i que té una plataforma que és la J2EE, que la fa ideal per l'unió de pàgines web amb bases de dades.

El treball final de carrera 'HISMED', es basa en l'anàlisi, disseny, investigació e implementació d'una aplicació dins l'àmbit assistencial sanitari amb la premissa de voler ser un sistema per oferir un servei sanitari de millor qualitat, i crear un entorn en el qual investigadors, laboratoris, metges i personal docent comparteixen dades amb una rellevància cabdal per les seves professions. Oferint-los una eina de consulta molt potent en quant a l'obtenció de dades clíniques, que els permet explotar la informació segons convingui el cas.

Entorn de treball per a una organització, a través d'un servidor d'aplicacions i la seva gestió

Aquest treball consisteix en la construcció d'un servidor segur d'aplicacions per a la mitjana empresa. Aquest servidor ens dotarà d'un entorn segur, gràcies al qual els usuaris de l'organització podran entrar a les seves aplicacions de manera remota com si executessin les seves necessitats dins la xarxa de l'empresa.
