Memòria crítica de tres debats escolars

Com reflexió sobre l'ensenyament a l'Escola Elisava i de l'ensenyament del disseny en general, la intervenció pretén tractar els debats que durant molts anys s'havien donat tàcitament entre els diversos estaments acadèmics, mostrant la situació crítica que suposa -especialment per al fràgil disseny- que un qualsevol d'aquests estaments influeixi sobre els altres. A partir de mitjans dels anys 90, la progressiva adopció generalitzada a l'ensenyament superior del model anglosaxó -amb clar predomini del fet institucional- ha mostrat el caràcter premonitori de la crítica que aquí s'exposa.

Como reflexión sobre la enseñanza en la Escola Elisava y de la enseñanza del diseño en general, la intervención pretende tratar los debates que durante muchos años se habían dado tácitamente entre los distintos estamentos académicos, mostrando la situación crítica que supone -especialmente para el frágil diseño- que uno cualquiera de estos estamentos influya sobre los demás. A partir de mediados de los años 90, la progresiva adopción generalizada en la enseñanza superior del modelo anglosajón -con claro predominio de lo institucional- ha mostrado el carácter premonitorio de la crítica que aquí se expone.

Were Spanish migrants attracted by industrial agglomerations?: an analysis for the interwar years in the light of the new economic geography

In this paper we examine whether access to markets had a significant influence onmigration choices of Spanish internal migrants in the inter-war years. We perform astructural contrast of a New Economic Geography model that focus on the forwardlinkage that links workers location choice with the geography of industrial production,one of the centripetal forces that drive agglomeration in the NEG models. The resultshighlight the presence of this forward linkage in the Spanish economy of the inter-warperiod. That is, we prove the existence of a direct relation between workers¿ localizationdecisions and the market potential of the host regions. In addition, the direct estimationof the values associated with key parameters in the NEG model allows us to simulatethe migratory flows derived from different scenarios of the relative size of regions andthe distances between them. We show that in Spain the power of attraction of theagglomerations grew as they increased in size, but the high elasticity estimated for themigration costs reduced the intensity of the migratory flows. This could help to explainthe apparently low intensity of internal migrations in Spain until its upsurge during the1920s. This also explains the geography of migrations in Spain during this period,which hardly affected the regions furthest from the large industrial agglomerations (i.e.,regions such as Andalusia, Estremadura and Castile-La Mancha) but had an intenseeffect on the provinces nearest to the principal centres of industrial development.

Woody Allen y el espíritu de la tragedia griega: de Crimes and Misdemeanors a Match Point

Numerosos son ya los estudios que se han centrado en el llamado "cine serio" de Woody Allen y, entre ellos, cabe mencionar el que Pau Gilabert Barberà, autor de este artículo, escribió (2006) sobre lo que, en su opinión, es el legado sofístico subyacente en el guión de Crimes and Misdemeanors. En esta ocasión, su objetivo es analizar la trayectoria fluctuante del director americano en relación con la tragedia griega, desde la convicción de que, sólo así, es posible revelar su empatía con el espíritu trágico de los griegos y comprender su necesidad de presentar aquel género literario como un paradigma desde el cual entender las grandezas y miserias del mundo contemporáneo.

L'autor també fa una anàlisi de l'origen geogràfic d'aquests professionals i de la seva extracció social. Tot plegat sorgeix de l'estudi d'arxius municipals i parroquials.

El profesor Juan Maluquer de Motes y los estudios sobre Tartessos

La investigación sobre Tartessos fue siempre una de la líneas de trabajo favoritas del Prof. Maluquer de Motes, quien, en el momento de definir la que constituyó su última gran línea de investigación, el programa PIP (Programa de Investigación Protohistórica), prestó una especial atención al estudio de las comunidades prerromanas de Andalucía y Extremadura, especialmente tartesias e iberas, destacando entre los trabajos publicados en este marco las intervenciones de Ma . E. Aubet en la necrópolis de Setefilla (Lora del Río, Sevilla), y del propio Maluquer de Motes en el palacio-santuario de Cancho Roano (Zalamea de la Serena, Badajoz).

Els Almogàvers: Les cares d'un mite.

Els almogàvers foren un grup de guerrers mercenaris que se singularitzava en el si dels exèrcits de la Corona d'Aragó. Esmentats per Jaume el Conqueridor i descrits per Desclot, són els protagonistes dels capítols en què Ramon Muntaner narra la seva màxima gesta: l'aventura en terres bizantines, a conseqüència de la qual els reis d'Aragó seran ducs d'Atenes i Neopàtria. Posteriorment el seu exemple serà al·legat en temps de dificultat Guerra de Successi, Guerra contra Napoleó fins que la Renaixença els reivindicarà i en farà un mite. El present article estudia com els tractà la literatura catalana, i també la castellana, des dels primers textos i sobretot durant els segles XIX i XX, en un recorregut en què es revela com un mite imperfecte, car els aspectes violents remarcats per la propaganda hel·lènica han estat un llast impossible d'eliminar.
