O objetivo deste estudo é analisar a evolução da pobreza e da desigualdade na distribuição de renda no Brasil no período de 1990 a 2006. Para isso apresenta um resumo histórico dos debates sobre as causas das desigualdades de rendimentos do país, os fatores responsáveis pelas diferenças salariais e um panorama dos investimentos públicos realizados para transferir renda à população mais pobre. Ao final expõe a situação da pobreza e da distribuição de renda no país através de dados obtidos pelas PNADs e pelo IBGE, considerando a influência das políticas sociais do Governo Federal

Seven experimentsthat simulatethe firing of electrical motors through a controlsystem, a driver along with asimulator loads coupled to the electric motor was developed. Experiments usinga Programmable Logic Controller (PLC) as acontroller,an inverter frequencyasdriver, and MagneticBrake, as simulatorengine loads . The experiments were divided accordingto the speed reference signal used fordrivingand operating the electric motor: digital and analog. The first five experiments performing the drive control and operation of the electric motor via digital signals. Verificação do índice SINAPI para orçamento de obras

This work refers a comparison between a government’s index budget and another one which take into account the traditional method, in other words, taking real values practice in market as base. For its achievement will be used the design of a low standard single-family residence, quantifying all the materials needed for its construction with Prices Compositions Table for Budget, provided from the PINI publishing. After that, was made two budgets: one based on the SINAPI index costs, provided from Caixa Econômica Federal and calculated for the Brazilian Institute of Geography and Estatistics; and another based on the costs used in the SESC work in Birigui city, as well as values collected from building material stores in the same city. Finally, with both finalized budgets, will be drawn a direct comparison in order to verifying if the index can be use as parameter for budget calculations for low standard residences

O presente trabalho buscou definir e analisar dados sobre globalização econômica e pobreza de diversos países da América Latina e mostrar que o modo como os países articulam-se em relação a uma elevação de sua globalização econômica apresenta relação inversamente proporcional com a pobreza e a desigualdade de renda dos países

Expressão do mRNA do gene Capn 2 e índice de apoptose de ilhotas pancreáticas de rato tratadas com fibrilas de amilina e com oligômeros de amilina de tamanho intermediário

O depósito de amilina é um achado histopatológico freqüente em pacientes portadores de diabetes melito tipo 2 (DM 2) e parece estar relacionado à disfunção da célula beta pancreática característica desta doença. Apenas as moléculas de amilina que sofrem agregação in vivo, tal como a amilina humana, são citotóxicas para as células beta, enquanto as variedades não agregantes, como a amilina de rato, não apresentam efeito deletério. Com o objetivo de compreender melhor os mecanismos de toxicidade associados à forma agregante da amilina, um projeto em andamento em nosso laboratório estudou, por micro-arranjos de cDNA, o perfil de genes modulados pela amilina humana em ilhotas pancreáticas murídeas, comparando duas situações específicas: ilhotas tratadas com fibrilas de amilina (“amilina madura”) e ilhotas tratadas com oligômeros de tamanho intermediário (“amilina fresca”), já que evidências recentes apontam para um efeito deletério apenas de oligômeros de amilina. Distribuição de renda e pobreza no Brasil rural

Since the 60's, the population censuses have revealed a high degree of social inequality in Brazil. The concentration of income, as measured by the Gini index, showed persistently high since then. After the year 2001, we note that the trajectory stability is disrupted and the Gini index begins to show a downward trend. In relation to poverty, there has been two periods in recent history in which there was consistent decrease in the proportion of poor in the years immediately after the Real Plan in 2003 and in the year 2003 onwards. This research aimed to analyze poverty and income distribution in rural Brazil. In this crop sector, it is noted that the average perceived by the rural population is below the Brazilian income and, therefore, there is an increase in the number of poor. In addition, income in rural areas is less concentrated compared to the urban environment. Finally, as occurred in Brazil, there is a rural improvement in indicators of poverty and inequality in the last 10 years. Finally, this paper analyzes the changes that may have contributed to the fall in inequality and rural poverty, including the policy of rural settlement, the credit program to the family farmer (PRONAF) and rural retirement

Desenvolvimento econômico e desigualdade social: um estudo sobre os aspectos sociais presentes na obra de Raúl Prebisch

This study aims to conduct an analysis on the social aspects present in the works of the Argentine economist Raúl Prebisch (1901-1986). Based on the author's research on the economic development of the peripheral countries, it will be demonstrated how the social and economic factors have interconnected in the developmental theory of the peripheral worldwide economy. To achieve this goal, the six works of Prebisch considered essentials by Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) were used as main bibliographic axis. Such texts are: Introduction to Keynes, The Economic Development of Latin America and Its Principal Problems, Economic development or monetary stability: the false dilemma, Towards a Dynamic Development Policy for Latin America, .Change and Development: Latin America's Great Task, Capitalismo periférico: crisis y transformación, Five stages in my thinking on development. Firstly the topics essential to economic development according to the author will be exposed, such as industrialization of peripheral countries as a means of raising the income of masses and the way it should be coordinated beyond the theoretical author's choice on historical events, the evolution of the deterioration of terms of trade between peripheral and central countries and the need for productivity gains to increase the income of the worker. Afterwards it will be exposed how such terms align with social inequalities and which definitions are incorporated by the author on the subject

The study aimed to assess the degree of dental crowding correction on the lower anterior region of patients treated with T4k functional appliance using Little’s irregularity index. Twenty caucasian patients of both gender (10 female and 10 male) were selected. They featured malocclusion Class I and II in mixed dentition, with chronological age between 5.7 and 11 years. The treatment lasted from 1 year and 11 months up to 3 years and 11 months. Lower anterior crowding was measured using Little’s irregularity index. Measurements were obtained on study models achieved before and after functional orthopedic therapy, using a digital caliper in millimeters and placed parallel to the occlusal plane. Overjet and overbite measurements were also performed using a caliper. Results demonstrated that the therapy provided significant decrease in overjet (average = 1.55 mm) and also in the irregularity index (average = 1.23 mm). There was a nonsignificant raise in overbite. There was no relation between the studied variables and the treatment period or even with the patient’s age in the beginning of the therapy. The treatment with T4k resulted on reduction and improvement of dental crowding.

Cálculo e implementação do índice de Desenvolvimento da Gestão Municipal (IDGM) no município de Itabaiana/Se

The scarcity of resources which frequently confronts the State, coupled with demands to provide assistance to a needy population, requires that public administrators formulate efficient and effective policies to pursue its goals. It is fundamental that such policies are based on solid information of existing conditions. As such, the availability of reliable and updated socio-economic indicators is an important tool on which to fundament public policies. The present paper aims to present a Municipal Development Index – Municipal Management Development Index (IDGM) – calculated for the city of Itabaiana/SE, and is divided in two sections. The first discusses the concept of economic development and the evolution of measurement frameworks, with emphasis on the IHD and some of its limitations. The second section describes an estimated IDGM for the city of Itabaiana, as well as its methodology, results, and a brief comparative analysis with four municipalities from the state of São Paulo. Itabaiana’s IDGM reached 849 points (the maximum is 1.000), which infers a good developmental condition.
