Relationship between intuition and emotional intelligence in occupational therapists in mental health practice

Objective: 
Clinical reasoning studies have acknowledged tacit aspects of practice, and recent research suggests that clinical reasoning contains intuition informed by tacit knowledge. Intuition also appears to be influenced by awareness and understanding of emotions. This study investigated the relationship between intuition and emotional intelligence among occupational therapists in mental health practice.

The 2012 Revised FATF Recommendations: Assessing and Mitigating Mobile Money Integrity Risks Within the New Standards Framework

Mobile money holds great financial inclusion promise, but also poses financial integrity challenges. The Financial Action Task Force (FATF)—the intergovernmental global anti-money laundering (AML) and counter-terrorist financing (CTF) standard-setting body—expressed support for financial inclusion and mobile money as a means to decrease the use of non-transparent cash in many developing countries. In February 2012, FATF adopted a new revised set of standards. This Article considers the impact of these new standards on mobile money models in developing countries. It highlights aspects of the new standards that would facilitate innovative mobile money models, but also points to questions and challenges. The new standards are generally more facilitative of new financial services models for the unbanked and underbanked, but a number of key questions and implementation challenges remain. These include mobile money-related privacy and cyber-crime concerns.

Occupational light vehicle-use: a research driven strategy to improve surveillance and inform policy

Background: Occupational light vehicles (OLV) are light passenger and loadshaped vehicles used for work. The OLV-associated injury burden is as great as that of heavy vehicle users, but has been largely ignored by occupational health and safety (OHS) regulators. Contingent employment growth has accentuated existing gaps in the policy framework between OHS and road-safety. Frequent burden shifting from OHS to road-related health systems undermines the evidence base necessary to inform policy development. Aims: To provide evidence-based recommendations for the collection of OLVuser surveillance data and to underpin OHS procedures and policies for OLVusers. Method: The literature was systematically analyzed to identify OLV-user OHS policy and practice gaps. Strategies to improve and co-ordinate surveillance systems were developed to address the identified limitations. Results: Gaps were identified in OLV-user legislation, data collection, and riskmanagement. These require strategies to improve identification of all OLV-users and to co-ordinate surveillance and OHS practice. Discussion: Contemporary reform of road and OHS, policy, provides a timely opportunity for the implementation of strategic responses to this serious road safety and occupational, public health problem.
