Este trabajo tiene como propósito presentar y valorar, desde la perspectiva del alumnado participante, un proyecto de investigación-formación puesto en marcha durante el curso 2003-2004 en la elaboración del trabajo de tesina, fin de carrera, en la Escuela de Enfermería de Vitoria, dentro del programa de Licenciatura Europea de Enfermería. Constituye el punto de partida de un proyecto a largo plazo, iniciado con la intención de desarrollar principios teóricos y procedimientos prácticos que nos permitan sistematizar procesos formativos que, centrados en la investigación, articulen la teoría y la práctica e integren una perspectiva comunicativa y cooperativa

Alteración de la atención y concentración en estudiantes de medicina que realizan turnos de noche

El sueño, es indispensable para la recuperación, física, mental y de procesos como la consolidación de memoria, atención y lenguaje. La privación de sueño (PS) incide en la atención y concentración. La PS es inherente a la formación médica, pero no es claro el papel de los turnos nocturnos en estudiantes, porque no cumplen con un objetivo académico, pero hay relación con disminución de la salud, productividad, accidentes, y alteraciones en diversas actividades. Está descrito el impacto de la PS sobre la capacidad de aprendizaje y aspectos como el ánimo y las relaciones interpersonales. MÉTODOS: Se realizó un estudio analítico observacional de cohorte longitudinal, con tres etapas de medición a 180 estudiantes de Medicina de la Universidad del Rosario, que evaluó atención selectiva y concentración mediante la aplicación de la prueba d2, validada internacionalmente para tal fin. RESULTADOS: Se estudiaron 180 estudiantes, 115 mujeres, 65 hombres, entre los 18 y 26 años (promedio 21). Al inicio del estudio dormían en promedio 7,9 horas, cifra que se redujo a 5,8 y 6,3 en la segunda y tercera etapa respectivamente. El promedio de horas de sueño nocturno, disminuyó en el segundo y tercer momento (p<0,001); Además se encontró mediante la aplicación de la prueba d2, que hubo correlación significativa directa débil, entre el promedio de horas de sueño, y el promedio del desempeño en la prueba (r=0.168, p=0.029) CONCLUSIONES: La PS, con períodos de sueño menores a 7,2 horas, impactan de manera importante la atención selectiva, la concentración

Reflections About the Teaching Methodology Processes Related with the Cognition of the Superior Education Student

In concordance whit permanent global and local changes in superior education, not only in Colombia but in the world, and having in account the relevance of pedagogical actions and their incidence in the student’s cognitive level, it’s necessary analyze and to reflect about the mecanism involved in the learning processes, in order to improve the curriculums and inside of them, the teaching methodologies, pedagogy an didacts that promote better the students cognition. In the present article an analysis is made of teaching methodologies developed in Institutions of superior education with subsequent learnings that not always facilitate the cognitive development of the student, as well as a proposal of educative innovation elements aimed to guide the teachers into a careful consideration of their pedagogical practice.

Medical Evaluation Processes in Clinical settings. Qualitative Analysis through the Experience of Teachers and Studens

Evaluation processes in clinical practice have not been well, being their study focused on the technical issues concerning these processes. This study tried an approach to the evaluation processes through the analysis of perceptions from teachers and students about the methodology of evaluation considering the teachinglearning processes performed in a clinical practice of the Medicine Program –Universidad El Bosque from Bogota. With this purpose we conducted interviews with teachers and students searching the manner in which the evaluative, learning and teaching processes are done; then we analyzed the perception from both agents concerning the way these processes are related. The interviews were categorized bath deductively and inductively, and then contrasted with some current theories of learning, teaching and evaluation in medicine. The study showed that nowadays the evaluation and, in general, the educative processes are affected by several factors which are associated to the manner the professional practice is developed, and the educative process of the current teachers. We concluded there is no congrency between the approach of the evaluation, mainly conductivist, and the learning and teaching strategies mainly constructivist. This fact cause dissent in teachers and students.

Continuous improvement programs as processes for organizational learning: a case study of a company in the food products industry

This article intends to show the relationships between quality practices and the process of organizational learning. When we look at the literature about programs of continuous improvement we see that theoreticians consider that the process of organizational learning is a superior stage in the quality culture adopted by companies. To investigate this possibility, we put together a series of indicators taken from classic authors who have written about organizational learning. Adopting a multiple methodology, we applied these indicators to two plants belonging to the Nestlé food product company which have introduced continuous improvement programs over the last two years.

Extinción o reinvención del Estado-Nación frente a los desafíos globales

El artículo analiza la crisis que atraviesa el Estado-nación como producto de la agudización, profundización y aceleramiento de los procesos de globalización. En primer lugar, se abordan los cambios que se producen en su estructura, sus funciones y sus atribuciones soberanas de decisión, las cuales son sometidas a presiones en lo internacional y lo subnacional. Desde esta perspectiva, se hace énfasis en su lucha por sobrevivir a través de la diversificación de sus escenarios y de la cooperación con otros actores nacionales o internacionales. En consecuencia, el análisis nos conduce a constatar que el Estado-nación, en vez de desempeñar su papel jerárquico y autoritario tradicional, ha comenzado a jugar un rol negociador y de mediador entre los grandes problemas y los actores, o la combinación de actores, que más se adecuen a cada circunstancia. En este contexto, se evalúa la función integradora del Estado-nación, así como su capacidad para seguir siendo una pieza clave en un mundo globalizado y en momentos de fraccionamiento y pluralización de las sociedades actuales. Por último, se llega a la conclusión de que el Estadonación, a pesar de su crisis, sigue siendo la institución más importante del control global.-----This article analises the crisis affecting the Nation-State, which is a product of the aggravation, profundization and acceleration of the processes of globalization. In the first place the article deals with the changes of its structure, its functions and its decision-making power, all submitted to new international and sub-national pressures. From this perspective, emphasis is being placed on its struggle for survival through diversification of its scenarios and cooperation with other national and international actors. As a consequence, the analysis leads us to realize that the Nation-State, instead of being the hierarchical and authoritarian traditional entity, has started to play a new role as a negotiator and mediator of the big problems and their actors involved. In this context the integrating function of the Nation-State is being evaluated, as well as its capacity to stay a key player in a globalized world at times of the fragmentation and pluralization of modern societies. Finally the article concludes that the Nation-State, in spite of its current crisis, continues to be the most important institution of global control.

Option pricing in market models driven by telegraph processes with jumps

Esta tesis está dividida en dos partes: en la primera parte se presentan y estudian los procesos telegráficos, los procesos de Poisson con compensador telegráfico y los procesos telegráficos con saltos. El estudio presentado en esta primera parte incluye el cálculo de las distribuciones de cada proceso, las medias y varianzas, así como las funciones generadoras de momentos entre otras propiedades. Utilizando estas propiedades en la segunda parte se estudian los modelos de valoración de opciones basados en procesos telegráficos con saltos. En esta parte se da una descripción de cómo calcular las medidas neutrales al riesgo, se encuentra la condición de no arbitraje en este tipo de modelos y por último se calcula el precio de las opciones Europeas de compra y venta.
