Evaluación de la competencia en el mercado minorista de gasolina y gasóleos

[ES] La importancia de la gasolina y el diesel resulta incuestionable para la economía de cualquier país. En las dos últimas décadas se ha producido en España un proceso de liberalización en el sector de venta minorista de hidrocarburos que, aunque en el caso de Canarias contaba con una mayor experiencia, los resultados no parecen ser los socialmente deseados. La presentación resume la experiencia investigadora en este sector, utilizando para ello diversas metodologías, pero alcanzando todas el mismo resultado: la ausencia de competencia en dicho mercado minorista.

Marco de referencia de los programas de competencia psicosocioeducativa de justicia juvenil en la comunidad autónoma de Canarias

La necesidad de una especialización de la intervención en justicia juvenil pone de relieve que al intervenir hemos de basarnos en programas y líneas de trabajo contrastadas empíricamente, tal y como nos refleja los trabajos de Spivack y Shure (1974) con el déficit de destrezas interpersonales; Roos, Fabiano y Ewles (1982) en el programa R & R; Segura Morales (1992, 2004) con programas cognitivos de habilidades sociales; Garrido Genovés y López (2005) con el programa de pensamiento prosocial

Competencia parental y necesidades criminógenas en una muestra de menores infractores

[ES] En la actualidad, existe un amplio campo de evidencia científica que informa la contribución de inadecuadas prácticas de crianza con el desarrollo de la conducta antisocial (Aucoin, Frick, y Bodin, 2006; Frick, 1991; Glueck y Glueck, 1950; Hirschi, 1969; Hoeve y cols., 2009). En este contexto, planteamos un estudio descriptivo, compuesto por 101 menores infractores y 101 progenitores, con el objetivo de evaluar la relación entre las competencia parental en relación con el nivel de riesgo de reincidencia, necesidades criminógenas, de los menores implicados en actividad delictiva. Los resultados informaron que el nivel de riesgo variaba en función de la disciplina severa, el grado de atención a las emociones y la descarga emocional de sus progenitores vinculados.

Las competencias transversales y el Espacio Europeo de Educación Superior (EEES): una experiencia de evaluación de la competencia de comunicación oral en la ULPGC

[ES] El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar una experiencia de evaluación de la competencia de comunicación oral, que gira en torno a la puesta en marcha del Torneo 10 en 5 de Presentación Exprés “Idea de Negocio”. El formato de este Torneo consiste en la presentación de ideas, proyectos y diseños a través de 10 imágenes estáticas que se desarrollan durante cinco minutos. Con el fin de evaluar dicha competencia se tuvieron en cuenta indicadores como el orden y la claridad o el uso correcto del lenguaje, entre otros. Además de las valoraciones de los jueces, se pidió a los participantes que se autoevaluaran y evaluaran al resto de equipos. Como resultado de la evaluación de los jueces, se otorgaron tres menciones: a la presentación más creativa, al mejor orador y al mejor equipo en su conjunto. Si bien el análisis de los evaluaciones puso de manifiesto que hay más benevolencia cuando la calificación se produce entre iguales (participantes) que cuando esa calificación la llevan a cabo los jueces, el análisis de las entrevistas que se realizaron tras finalizar el Torneo constató la consistencia entre las menciones otorgadas por el jurado y la valoración de los propios participantes.

La competencia pragmática en el aprendizaje del inglés: importancia, desarrollo y propuestas de mejora en la Facultad de Filología (ULPGC)

[EN]In this paper we revise the concept of pragmatic competence and underline the recognized importance that it has in the process of teaching and learning a foreign language. The need to include explicit pedagogical instruction in the classroom is also approached. A revision of the syllabi used for the teaching of English in the Degree in Hispanic Studies at the Faculty of Philology (ULPGC) reveals some minor failure in the way the functional content is specified regarding pragmatic abilities. Some examples of how to deal with the development of pragmatic competence in the classroom, including ICT, are also presented, together with some suggestions to improve it.

Lengua, lingüística, TIC y desarrollo de la competencia lectoescritora. Criterios para la selección de materiales. El caso de Educalandia

[ES]Con la presente comunicación pretendemos dejar de manifiesto la necesidad de evaluar, desde el punto de vista del contenido y partiendo de la experiencia docente, los recursos en línea para el desarrollo de la competencia lectoescritora, centrándonos en el portal educativo Educalandia, en el que se ofrecen numerosos recursos en la mayor parte de los ámbitos que conforman los currículos de Educación Infantil y Primaria. A partir de su análisis, se nos plantea la necesidad de establecer un medio a partir del cual garantizar al profesorado y al alumnado la calidad de lo que nos ofrece la red y facilitar la discriminación de actividades que permitan evitar las carencias que presentan los alumnos de estos y de los subsiguientes niveles educativos.

A multidisciplinary approach to the functional and esthetic rehabilitation of amelogenesis imperfecta and open bite deformity: a case report

The treatment of amelogenesis imperfecta (AI) with an anterior open bite (AOB) is a challenge for the clinician and often requires a multidisciplinary team of specialists. Most often, patients suffering from these conditions are young and a good functional and esthetic long-term result must be aspired. This clinical report illustrates the orthodontic, maxillofacial, restorative, and prosthodontic rehabilitation of a 20-year-old woman with a hypoplastic form of AI and an AOB malocclusion, having received treatment for the last 6 years. It included adhesive resin composite restorations, orthodontical and maxillofacial surgery with a one-piece Le Fort I osteotomy, and a genioplasty. Subsequent prosthodontic therapy consisted of 28 all-ceramic crowns whereby a solid interdigitation, a canine guidance, and consistent and regular contacts between tooth crowns could be achieved to assure a good functional and esthetic oral situation. The tooth preparation techniques guaranteed minimally invasive treatment. The patient was affected very positively. CLINICAL SIGNIFICANCE: This article describes an interdisciplinary approach to the successful treatment of a patient with a hypoplastic form of amelogenesis imperfecta over a period of 6 years. It starts with a discussion of the conservative steps taken during adolescence and concludes with the final prosthetic rehabilitation with all-ceramic crowns after reaching adulthood.

A Missense Mutation in the SERPINH1 Gene in Dachshunds with Osteogenesis Imperfecta

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a hereditary disease occurring in humans and dogs. It is characterized by extremely fragile bones and teeth. Most human and some canine OI cases are caused by mutations in the COL1A1 and COL1A2 genes encoding the subunits of collagen I. Recently, mutations in the CRTAP and LEPRE1 genes were found to cause some rare forms of human OI. Many OI cases exist where the causative mutation has not yet been found. We investigated Dachshunds with an autosomal recessive form of OI. Genotyping only five affected dogs on the 50 k canine SNP chip allowed us to localize the causative mutation to a 5.82 Mb interval on chromosome 21 by homozygosity mapping. Haplotype analysis of five additional carriers narrowed the interval further down to 4.74 Mb. The SERPINH1 gene is located within this interval and encodes an essential chaperone involved in the correct folding of the collagen triple helix. Therefore, we considered SERPINH1 a positional and functional candidate gene and performed mutation analysis in affected and control Dachshunds. A missense mutation (c.977C>T, p.L326P) located in an evolutionary conserved domain was perfectly associated with the OI phenotype. We thus have identified a candidate causative mutation for OI in Dachshunds and identified a fifth OI gene.

[Experiences with the early treatment of osteogenesis imperfecta]

Between 1973 and 1988 twenty children with osteogenesis imperfecta were treated in the Department of Paediatric Surgery at the University of Berne, Switzerland. Our initial experience with the first 15 children, who had virtually no treatment during infancy and early childhood showed that they later developed severe soft tissue and skeletal deformities. Since resulting contractures and curvatures of the long bones are difficult to correct, we changed our therapeutic approach. Traditional therapy in OI was limited to the correction of bony malformations. Considering the fact, that the different elements of the locomotor system are part of a functional entity, we began early treatment combining physiotherapy and surgery.

Molecular Consequences of the SERPINH1/HSP47 Mutation in the Dachshund Natural Model of Osteogenesis Imperfecta.

Osteogenesis imperfecta (OI) is a heritable connective tissue disease characterized by bone fragility and increased risk of fractures. Up to now, mutations in at least 18 genes have been associated with dominant and recessive forms of OI that affect the production or post-translational processing of procollagen or alter bone homeostasis. Among those, SERPINH1 encoding heat shock protein 47 (HSP47), a chaperone exclusive for collagen folding in the ER, was identified to cause a severe form of OI in dachshunds (L326P) as well as in humans (one single case with a L78P mutation). To elucidate the disease mechanism underlying OI in the dog model, we applied a range of biochemical assays to mutant and control skin fibroblasts as well as on bone samples. These experiments revealed that type I collagen synthesized by mutant cells had decreased electrophoretic mobility. Procollagen was retained intracellularly with concomitant dilation of ER cisternae and activation of the ER stress response markers GRP78 and phospho-eIF2α, thus suggesting a defect in procollagen processing. In line with the migration shift detected on SDS-PAGE of cell culture collagen, extracts of bone collagen from the OI dog showed a similar mobility shift, and on tandem mass spectrometry, the chains were post-translationally overmodified. The bone collagen had a higher content of pyridinoline than control dog bone. We conclude that the SERPINH1 mutation in this naturally occurring model of OI impairs how HSP47 acts as a chaperone in the ER. This results in abnormal post-translational modification and cross-linking of the bone collagen.
