Teatro Contemporáneo y Medios audiovisuales: primer acercamiento teórico

La investigación analiza las diferentes escrituras escénicas que se producen cuando el espacio escénico hace uso de los medios audiovisuales. Se centra, esencialmente, en un teatro contemporáneo que fusiona la tecnología con el tiempo-espacio performativo para generar una nueva teatralidad y/o nuevos discursos, impensables sin el vínculo directo entre los dos medios. Este contexto favorece un acercamiento a la creación teatral desde unos parámetros diferentes a la tradición escénica clásica. Un nuevo teatro que replantea la relación entre obra-espectador y obra-proceso de creación.

Renovar la il·lusió de l'estudiant universitari amb els seus estudis : desenvolupament d'una metodologia que incrementi l'èxit mitjançant la implicació i el raonament (RIE)

El departament d'Economia i Organització d'Empreses, de la Facultat d'Economia i Empresa de la Universitat de Barcelona, sempre ha mostrat una preocupació perquè els alumnes siguin capaços d'entendre i, sobretot, de veure aplicables a la vida laboral els conceptes de les diverses assignatures de la nostra àrea -organització i direcció d'empreses-. Donada la falta d'experiència laboral que tenen, sovint entenen els conceptes d'una manera superficial i teòrica ja que els queden una mica lluny de la seva vida diària. A més, la falta d'assistència, el baix rendiment acadèmic i la falta de motivació dels estudiants són temes habituals entre el col·lectiu de professors. Per tot això sorgeix la necessitat de millorar el rendiment dels estudiants, en el marc de l'Espai d'Educació Europeu Superior, amb una metodologia docent generalizable a la resta d'assignatures que aconsegueixi motivar-les tant per estudiar com per assistir a classe. La finalitat principal del projecte és millorar el rendiment acadèmic dels estudiants mitjançant una metodologia docent basada en l'anàlisi de casos audiovisuals. En concret es volen arribar a aconseguir els objectius formatius fonamentals de l'àrea d'Organització d'Empreses així com també es pretén que els alumnes adquireixin capacitats desitjables per dur a terme les funcions administratives. La durada del projecte ha estat d'un any. Concretament des de novembre de 2007 a octubre de 2008.

Les essais cliniques avortés

Un quart des essais cliniques est abandonné, le plus souvent faute de volontaires. Les explications d'Erik von Elm, chef de clinique du Centre d'épidémiologie clinique du CHUV et l'un des co-auteurs d'une étude réalisée sur ce sujet entre 2000 et 2003 en Suisse, en Allemagne et au Canada, et de Grégoire Wuerzner, coordinateur au Centre de recherches cliniques du CHUV.

Mothers' and Fathers' Early Relationship With Their Infant: Similar Yet Temporally Discordant Themes [La relation initiale des parents avec leur nourrisson: Thèmes similaires quoique temporellement discordants]

Objective: To examine first-time mothers' and fathers' themes in their relationship with their infant, how these themes change during the first four months postpartum, and similarities and differences in mothers' and fathers' themes. Participants: Eighteen first-time mother-father couples were separately interviewed at one; six and 16 weeks postpartum. Data Analysis: Audio-taped, transcribed interviews were analysed using a Grounded Theory approach. Results: Our findings reveal a common set of themes for mothers and fathers in relation to the infant : 1: Discovery, 2: Physical Proximity, 3: Emotional Closeness, 4: Initiation of Complementary Interactions and 5: Commitment to Love and Care. However, there was a striking lack of concordance between mothers and fathers for these themes at each point in time. Conclusions: Mothers' and fathers' experience of the early relationship with their infant is unique. Focussing on maternal as well as paternal ways of experiencing the early relationship with their infant sets the way to understanding early developing relationships in the family context.

Longstanding health conditions among three-year-old children in the Republic of Ireland in 2011

This report, based on a systematic analysis of data from the Growing Up in Ireland National Longitudinal Study of Children in the Republic of Ireland, is the first comprehensive look at longstanding health conditions among young children in Ireland. Estimated prevalence (per cent and number of cases) of longstanding health conditions among three-year-olds in the Republic of Ireland in 2011 by administrative counties/cities. Processament de música basat en el seu contingut

Projecte de recerca elaborat a partir d’una estada a la National University of Singapore Singapur, entre juliol i octubre del 2007. Donada l'explosió de la música a l'internet i la ràpida expansió de les col•leccions de música digital, un repte clau en l'àrea de la informació musical és el desenvolupament de sistemes de processament musical eficients i confiables. L'objectiu de la investigació proposada ha estat treballar en diferents aspectes de l'extracció, modelatge i processat del contingut musical. En particular, s’ha treballat en l'extracció, l'anàlisi i la manipulació de descriptors d'àudio de baix nivell, el modelatge de processos musicals, l'estudi i desenvolupament de tècniques d'aprenentatge automàtic per a processar àudio, i la identificació i extracció d'atributs musicals d'alt nivell. S’han revisat i millorat alguns components d'anàlisis d'àudio i revisat components per a l'extracció de descriptors inter-nota i intra-nota en enregistraments monofónics d'àudio. S’ha aplicat treball previ en Tempo a la formalització de diferents tasques musicals. Finalment, s’ha investigat el processat d'alt nivell de música basandonos en el seu contingut. Com exemple d'això, s’ha investigat com músics professionals expressen i comuniquen la seva interpretació del contingut musical i emocional de peces musicals, i hem usat aquesta informació per a identificar automàticament intèrprets. S’han estudiat les desviacions en paràmetres com to, temps, amplitud i timbre a nivell inter-nota i intra-nota.

Sound Texture Modelling

In the PhD thesis “Sound Texture Modeling” we deal with statistical modelling or textural sounds like water, wind, rain, etc. For synthesis and classification. Our initial model is based on a wavelet tree signal decomposition and the modeling of the resulting sequence by means of a parametric probabilistic model, that can be situated within the family of models trainable via expectation maximization (hidden Markov tree model ). Our model is able to capture key characteristics of the source textures (water, rain, fire, applause, crowd chatter ), and faithfully reproduces some of the sound classes. In terms of a more general taxonomy of natural events proposed by Graver, we worked on models for natural event classification and segmentation. While the event labels comprise physical interactions between materials that do not have textural propierties in their enterity, those segmentation models can help in identifying textural portions of an audio recording useful for analysis and resynthesis. Following our work on concatenative synthesis of musical instruments, we have developed a pattern-based synthesis system, that allows to sonically explore a database of units by means of their representation in a perceptual feature space. Concatenative syntyhesis with “molecules” built from sparse atomic representations also allows capture low-level correlations in perceptual audio features, while facilitating the manipulation of textural sounds based on their physical and perceptual properties. We have approached the problem of sound texture modelling for synthesis from different directions, namely a low-level signal-theoretic point of view through a wavelet transform, and a more high-level point of view driven by perceptual audio features in the concatenative synthesis setting. The developed framework provides unified approach to the high-quality resynthesis of natural texture sounds. Our research is embedded within the Metaverse 1 European project (2008-2011), where our models are contributting as low level building blocks within a semi-automated soundscape generation system.

Las Imágenes del malestar. Representaciones del yo y la construcción de subjetividad en la producción audiovisual contemporánea y en los nuevos dispositivos tecnológicos

El tema de la investigación propuesto aquí, se centra en el malestar social, y la representación de éste desde un punto de vista personal y autobiográfico, algo que en estas página denomino Autorepresentación del malestar social. ¿Cómo se autorepresenta el malestar y qué prácticas artísticas se emplean para ello? ¿Cuáles son la transformaciones que provocan estas prácticas artísticas en el terreno audiovisual? En este sentido, exploraremos dos vías de análisis: por un lado nos interesa observar cuales han sido las modificaciones que el poder ha desarrollado para establecer nuevas formas de explotación, y por otro lado, veremos como estas modificaciones están generando una nueva praxis social donde las prácticas artísticas cobran un nuevo y reforzado sentido, así como una nueva capacidad política, individual y colectiva a un mismo tiempo, cargada de una fuerza transformadora capaz de componer nuevos espacios de sujeto. Analizaremos, desde la representación del yo en la vida cotidiana, el género y las relaciones interpersonales, hasta las transformaciones contemporáneas del trabajo, y los cambios en la construcción de la subjetividad. El principal elemento en el que se apoyaran nuestras investigaciones será el anàlisis de producciones audiovisuales contemporáneas y la distribución de estas en algunas de las redes de comunicación contemporáneas, intentando mostrar, de esta manera, la interacción y los efectos directos que provocan en la realidad social.

Prospettive e nuovi strumenti didattici per l'insegnamento della letteratura italiana

La tesi esplora le possibilità di rinnovamento e di riconfigurazione del ruolo del docente di lingua e letteratura italiana e, più in generale, del ruolo stesso della letteratura all'interno dei sistemi educativi, si colloca necessariamente all'intersezione tra diversi settori di studio: ? la didattica della letteratura italiana, una disciplina giovane, i cui inizi si possono far risalire agli anni Sessanta-Settanta del secolo scorso, situata all'incrocio tra linguistica, italianistica e teoria della letteratura, che ha contribuito alla messa a punto di metodi e di strumenti per l'insegnamento della letteratura soprattutto nel contesto scolastico; ? l'informatica umanistica, la disciplina che si occupa dell'interazione tra la tecnologia e il sapere umanistico, sia dal punto di vista dell'utilizzo dei mezzi digitali per la ricerca (la produzione, la ricerca, la rappresentazione e la conservazione delle informazioni), sia da quello del ruolo dei saperi umanistici nella struttura epistemologica e nella storia della digitalizzazione; ? la tecnologia dell'educazione, che a partire dai primi mezzi di comunicazione elettrici e, poi, dall'invenzione del computer, ha sviluppato concetti e metodi per un approccio critico alle tecnologie utilizzate intenzionalmente con finalità didattiche, sia nelle attività di istruzione in aula, sia nelle attività cosiddette a distanza. A contatto con concetti e strumenti elaborati in questi ambiti, quindi, lo studioso di letteratura italiana dovrebbe mettere in discussione concetti e strumenti tipici della propria disciplina, riflettere sul proprio ruolo di ricercatore e di docente nella produzione e distribuzione di contenuti disciplinari per la formazione degli studenti e, infine, individuare strumenti operativi che gli consentano di assumere il controllo sui processi di apprendimento e sul complesso rapporto che essi intrattengono con l'insegnamento.

Aquest treball se centra en les tècniques de captura i filtratge de paquets a xarxes Ethernet. Com objectiu principal ens hem fixat l¿estudi de les estructures implementades pel sistema operatiu i la interfície oferta als programadors per tal de poder utilitzar-la. Com a objectiu secundari pretenem, posar a la practica els coneixements obtinguts i desenvolupar un producte sòlid i robust en la seva funcionalitat bàsica, filtrar i capturar paquets, però que sigui extensible a altres aplicacions orientades a xarxa. Anàlisis de rendiment de la xarxa, per exemple.

Enough is Enough - Food Poverty Scoping Exercise

In March 2015, over 80 people, representing food banks, churches, advice services, community organisations, statutory agencies and universities attended the ‘Enough is Enough’  launch event in City Church, Belfast to examine the rising demand for emergency food across the city.The ‘Enough is Enough’ project aims to harness the expertise of health and social care professionals, city councillors, advice workers, food banks, community and faith based organisations and strategic bodies across Belfast to collectively address the issue of food poverty. This scoping study lays the foundation for developing an action plan to tackle food poverty in Belfast in collaboration with the community, voluntary and statutory sectors.The Belfast Food Network (BFN) commissioned the project with funding from the Public Health Agency. The research was carried out by Jenny McCurry, who also wrote the report, on behalf of Advice NI.  The project was initiated and developed by Dr Elizabeth Mitchell, Institute of Public Health in Ireland, in her role as convener of the BFN Food Poverty Working Group (BFN/FPWG). TFC sobre normalització del volum d'arxius MP3, emmarcat dins d'un projecte més ampli que inclou la lectura d'arxius MP3, la modificació per a implementar-ne el guany i el desenvolupament d'una interfície d'usuari que permeti aplicar la normalització a fitxers MP3. La part que s'ha elaborat és la fase intermèdia, consistent en el càlcul del guany de volum que caldria aplicar a un arxiu de so per a aconseguir normalitzar-ne el volum.

BD:XML natives per a documents MPEG-7

Aquest projecte avalua diferents BD:XML natives per a desar i recuperar documents XML basats en l'estàndard MPEG-7. Es tracta d'un estàndard que proposa un llenguatge per descriure el contingut (metadades) de documents multimèdia, és a dir, àudio i vídeo. El seu format de representació és XML i es basa en un esquema ja predefinit (XMLSchema d'MPEG-7).
