A proposta de criar um museu com esta particularização é possível porque existe um interesse comunitário expressado desde há muito tempo e uma toma de consciência do papel histórico do movimento das populações em processos como a integração, o multiculturalismo ou a dinamização econômica. Os museus da migração consideram estas questões nos seus espaços de exposição. O projeto também considera estes fatores e propõe uma serie de princípios museológicos e de postulados museográficos para estabelecer uma instituição que contribui a valorizar e a difundir sua significação. O tema selecionado - o trabalho dos imigrantes portugueses - facilita a leitura transversal do discurso histórico das exposições previstas porque toma conta da representação cultural que a sociedade venezuelana tem feito da obra e dos trabalhadores imigrantes.

The effects of individual teacher expectations have been the subject of intensive research. Results indicate that teachers use their expectations to adapt their interactions with their students to some degree (as summarized in a review by Jussim & Harber, 2005). This can in turn lead to expectancy-confirming student developments. While there are studies on the Pygmalion effect on individual students, there is only little research on teacher judgements of whole classes and schools. Our study aims to extend the perspective of teacher judgements at the collective level to stereotypes within the context of school tracking. The content and structure of teachers’ school track stereotypes are investigated as well as the question of whether these stereotypical judgements are related to teachers’ perception of obstacles to their teaching and their teaching self-efficacy beliefs. Cross-sectional data on 341 teachers at two different school types from the Panel Study at the Research School „Education and Capabilities“ in North Rhine-Westphalia (PARS) (see Bos et al., 2016) were used for two purposes: First, the structure of teachers’ stereotypes was identified via an exploratory factor analysis. Second, in follow-up regression analyses, the stereotype dimensions extracted were used to predict teachers’ perceptions of obstacles to their classroom work and their individual and collective teacher self-efficacy beliefs. Results showed that – after controlling for the average cognitive abilities and the average cultural capital of the students – teacher stereotypes were indeed related to perceived obstacles concerning their classroom work and their self-efficacy beliefs. After a discussion of the strengths and limitations of the present research, the article closes with a short proposal of a future research framework for collective Pygmalion effects. (DIPF/Orig.)

Depuis longtemps, deux thèmes reviennent avec insistance dans mes réflexions et doivent sans doute prendre racine dans la plus lointaine curiosité infantile: “comment naît-on à la vie psychique, d’où viennent les processus créateurs”. Il s’agit pour l’une et l’autre question d’aller fouiller dans les histoires, la mienne, celle de mes patients, celle aussi du patrimoine pour tenter d’affronter l’énigme des origines à jamais insaisissable. Je pense à certaines situations cliniques d’analyse avec des patients considérés comme états limites qui présentent parfois de grands bouleversements économiques, source d’ébranlement identitaire. Ils sont alors au plus près de ces questions existentielles et ils les traversent avec effroi sur le divan, en ma présence. Ces questions nous mènent avec difficultés au plus authentique de l’être et à la création dans une atmosphère de violence et de destruction. Je retrouve ces thèmes dans mes lectures, derrière le divan et je tente d’y percevoir les forces vives et impitoyables aux origines de la vie psychique et jusque dans l’économie des processus créateurs. Elles sont de nature autoconservatrice et pulsionnelle d’une violence excessive destructrice et constructrice. C’est ainsi que j’entends, je regarde, je sens se déployer sur différentes scènes du livre ou de la clinique, les accents incisifs de la cruauté qui suivent un mouvement de la confusion identitaire jusqu’aux variations chatoyantes de la bisexualité. Il y a dans cette trajectoire qui mène le sujet à l’altérité, tout le jeu des échanges et des lieux de passage, l’enjeu des espaces intimes et privés ou communs et partagés; il y a aussi des histoires de frontières et d’inquiétante étrangeté. Un fil rouge n’a cessé de relier ces espaces hétérogènes; il leur permet de coexister et de se mélanger pour que les processus de transmission s’y développent; c’est le champ du transitionnel (D. Winnicott). Cet espace est intermédiaire entre l’intérieur et l’extérieur, entre le familier et l’étranger, le Soi et l’autre, le présent et l’absent, le “déjà mort” et “le pas encore né”, l’entre-deux paradoxal soit ni l’un ni l’autre et les deux à la fois. C’est dans l’alchimie de cet espace incertain aux frontières poreuses, à l’intérieur du sujet, de la famille, sur une aire de jeu et au fil des pages, qu’opère la magie des processus identificatoires, de la construction de l’être tout au long de sa vie.

(Introdução): La rédaction de ce document entre dans le cadre de la dernière étape du parcours du Master TPTI (Technique, Patrimoine, territoire de l’industrie). Piloté par l’université Paris 1 panthéon Sorbonne, en partenariat avec les universités de padou (Italie) et d’Evora (Portugal), le Master TPTI forme à l’expertise des environnements techniques, à la muséalisation du patrimoine et des paysages culturels. Ce parcours (France, Italie et Portugal) nous à permis de découvrir de nouvelles approches dans le domaine de la culture et du patrimoine en général et industriel en particulier. Ces approches nouvelles concernent surtout l’histoire des techniques dispensée à l’université Paris 1 panthéon Sorbonne et sur les paysages culturels de l’industrie dispensés au Portugal. L’histoire des techniques qui paraissait au début confuse nous a permis d’avoir une lecture claire sur la notion anthropologique de la culture. Les régimes de la pensée opératoire caractérisée par le régime de la pratique, de la technique et de la technologique, nous ont permis de comprendre les fondements de l’innovation technique mais aussi le passage de l’oralité à l’écrit. C’est en effet la compréhension des ces régimes qui nous a aidé à mieux saisir la manière dont la technique se manifeste dans les sociétés orales, se maintien et se transmet. Le senegal, qui fait l’objet de notre étude présente une diversité ethnique assez complexe. Chacune de ses ethnies a su, a sa manière inventer sa technique lui permettant de maitriser son environnement, dons une technique bien différente des autres. Si les « lebou » du cap vert ont su inventer l’une des plus anciennes traditions artisanales dans la pêche et les al poulhar, sur l’élevage, les sereer qui font le point focal de notre étude ont marqué le paysage par l’une des civilisations agraires les plus anciennes venues des civilisations du Nil.

7 RESUME/ABSTRACT Au Sénégal, il existe des pratiques culturelles et cultuelles, séculaires que l’on retrouve au niveau de toutes les composantes ethnolinguistiques. Une donnée qui nous interpelle, chacun en ce qui nous concerne, et nous invite à repenser le devenir de nos spécificités et particularités culturelles face aux assauts répétés et multiformes de la modernité. La caractéristique qui entoure les rites et rituels est le plus souvent sujette à plusieurs formes d’interprétations fantaisistes et parfois dévalorisantes. Force est de reconnaître que le recours à la médecine moderne ne saurait pleinement répondre à ce besoin de tranquillité et de sérénité mystique qui habite chaque africain en général et chaque sénégalais en particulier. Il s’agit ici, pour l’africain et en ce qui nous concerne le sénégalais, de trouver une tranquillité psychologique et une assurance symbolique propres à créer les conditions d’une guérison physique et/ou morale. En ce sens que l’emprise du modernise ne peut aucunement influer totalement sur cette croyance ancestrale que bon nombre de sénégalais, et pas des moindres, ont en l’endroit de ces pratiques. Une prédisposition culturelle sous-tendue par des préoccupations cultuelles qui font l’objet d’une communion agissante entre les différents membres des communautés. Une prise de conscience qui se manifeste à travers des cérémonies ponctuellement organisées et présidées par des prêtres et prêtresses. Notre présente étude participe de la recherche d’un juste équilibre spirituel et temporel apte à offrir une possibilité de concilier les aspects traditionnels des spécificités culturelles de nos composantes ethnolinguistiques avec ce qui constitue les contraintes et exigences de la modernité. Il reste certes évident que cette opposition a généré une sorte de fracture culturelle en véhiculant une autre manière de voir, mais surtout de percevoir nos traditions et coutumes. Cependant à l’heure d’un redimensionnement et d’une adaptation contextuelle de ce qui constitue nos valeurs identitaires, il nous revient de procéder à une démarche de sensibilisation et d’explication pour conférer plus de lisibilité à nos expressions culturelles. La mise en place d’un écomusée des pratiques divinatoires et curatives, est un moyen moderne et pratique de sauvegarde et de valorisation des savoirs et connaissances thérapeutiques endogènes. Outre la création d’emplois et de revenus, cette infrastructure sera une vitrine du patrimoine local qui favorisera le développement d’un tourisme culturel source de devises et vecteur de développement local; ABSTRACT: In Senegal, there are cultural and religious practices, ancient that we find in all the ethno-linguistic components. A given that challenges us, each in our case, and invites us to rethink the future of our cultural specificities and characteristics and multifaceted face of repeated assaults of modernity. The characteristic surrounding the rites and rituals is usually subject to various forms of demeaning and sometimes fanciful interpretations. We must recognize that the use of modern medicine can not fully meet this need of tranquility and mystical serenity that inhabits every African in general and Senegal in particular each. This is, for Africa and for us Senegalese, find a psychological tranquility and symbolic own insurance to create conditions for physical healing and / or legal. In that the grip of modernizing can in no way affect totally on this ancient belief that many Senegalese, not least, have the place of such practices. A cultural predisposition underpinned by cultic concerns that are the subject of an active communion between the community members. An awareness that manifests itself through occasionally organized ceremonies presided over by priests and priestesses. Our present study involved the search for a fair balance spiritual and temporal able to offer an opportunity to reconcile the traditional aspects of the cultural specificities of our ethno-linguistic components with which constitutes the constraints and demands of modernity. While it remains clear that this opposition has generated a kind of cultural divide by conveying a different way of seeing, but above all to collect our traditions and customs. However at the time resizing and contextual adaptation of what constitutes our identity values, it is our responsibility to conduct an outreach approach and explanation to give greater clarity to our cultural expressions. The establishment of a museum of divination and healing practices, is a modern and convenient way to backup and recovery of therapeutic knowledge and endogenous knowledge. In addition to creating jobs and income, this infrastructure will be a showcase of local heritage that promote the development of cultural tourism source of foreign exchange and local development vector.

We apply the collective consumption model of Browning, Chiappori and Lewbel (2006) to analyse economic well-being and poverty among the elderly. The model focuses on individual preferences, a consumption technology that captures the economies of scale of living in a couple, and a sharing rule that governs the intra-household allocation of resources. The model is applied to a time series of Dutch consumption expenditure surveys. Our empirical results indicate substantial economies of scale and a wifeís share that is increasing in total expenditures. We further calculated poverty rates by means of the collective consumption model. Collective poverty rates of widows and widowers turn out to be slightly lower than traditional ones based on a standard equivalence scale. Poverty among women (men) in elderly couples, however, seems to be heavily underestimated (overestimated) by the traditional approach. Finally, we analysed the impact of becoming a widow(er). Based on cross-sectional evidence, we find that the drop (increase) in material well-being following the husbandís death is substantial for women in high (low) expenditure couples. For men, the picture is reversed.

We provide a nonparametric 'revealed preference’ characterization of rational household behavior in terms of the collective consumption model, while accounting for general (possibly non-convex) individual preferences. We establish a Collective Axiom of Revealed Preference (CARP), which provides a necessary and sufficient condition for data consistency with collective rationality. Our main result takes the form of a ‘collective’ version of the Afriat Theorem for rational behavior in terms of the unitary model. This theorem has some interesting implications. With only a finite set of observations, the nature of consumption externalities (positive or negative) in the intra-household allocation process is non-testable. The same non-testability conclusion holds for privateness (with or without externalities) or publicness of consumption. By contrast, concavity of individual utility functions (representing convex preferences) turns out to be testable. In addition, monotonicity is testable for the model that assumes all household consumption is public.

This thesis aims to understand how cells coordinate their motion during collective migration. As previously shown, the motion of individually migrating cells is governed by wave-like cell shape dynamics. The mechanisms that regulate these dynamic behaviors in response to extracellular environment remain largely unclear. I applied shape dynamics analysis to Dictyostelium cells migrating in pairs and in multicellular streams and found that wave-like membrane protrusions are highly coupled between touching cells. I further characterized cell motion by using principle component analysis (PCA) to decompose complex cell shape changes into a serial shape change modes, from which I found that streaming cells exhibit localized anterior protrusion, termed front narrowing, to facilitate cell-cell coupling. I next explored cytoskeleton-based mechanisms of cell-cell coupling by measuring the dynamics of actin polymerization. Actin polymerization waves observed in individual cells were significantly suppressed in multicellular streams. Streaming cells exclusively produced F-actin at cell-cell contact regions, especially at cell fronts. I demonstrated that such restricted actin polymerization is associated with cell-cell coupling, as reducing actin polymerization with Latrunculin A leads to the assembly of F-actin at the side of streams, the decrease of front narrowing, and the decoupling of protrusion waves. My studies also suggest that collective migration is guided by cell-surface interactions. I examined the aggregation of Dictyostelim cells under distinct conditions and found that both chemical compositions of surfaces and surface-adhesion defects in cells result in altered collective migration patterns. I also investigated the shape dynamics of cells suspended on PEG-coated surfaces, which showed that coupling of protrusion waves disappears on touching suspended cells. These observations indicate that collective migration requires a balance between cell-cell and cell-surface adhesions. I hypothesized such a balance is reached via the regulation of cytoskeleton. Indeed, I found cells actively regulate cytoskeleton to retain optimal cell-surface adhesions on varying surfaces, and cells lacking the link between actin and surfaces (talin A) could not retain the optimal adhesions. On the other hand, suspended cells exhibited enhanced actin filament assembly on the periphery of cell groups instead of in cell-cell contact regions, which facilitates their aggregation in a clumping fashion.

This dissertation focuses on gaining understanding of cell migration and collective behavior through a combination of experiment, analysis, and modeling techniques. Cell migration is a ubiquitous process that plays an important role during embryonic development and wound healing as well as in diseases like cancer, which is a particular focus of this work. As cancer cells become increasingly malignant, they acquire the ability to migrate away from the primary tumor and spread throughout the body to form metastatic tumors. During this process, changes in gene expression and the surrounding tumor environment can lead to changes in cell migration characteristics. In this thesis, I analyze how cells are guided by the texture of their environment and how cells cooperate with their neighbors to move collectively. The emergent properties of collectively moving groups are a particular focus of this work as collective cell dynamics are known to change in diseases such as cancer. The internal machinery for cell migration involves polymerization of the actin cytoskeleton to create protrusions that---in coordination with retraction of the rear of the cell---lead to cell motion. This actin machinery has been previously shown to respond to the topography of the surrounding surface, leading to guided migration of amoeboid cells. Here we show that epithelial cells on nanoscale ridge structures also show changes in the morphology of their cytoskeletons; actin is found to align with the ridge structures. The migration of the cells is also guided preferentially along the ridge length. These ridge structures are on length scales similar to those found in tumor microenvironments and as such provide a system for studying the response of the cells' internal migration machinery to physiologically relevant topographical cues. In addition to sensing surface topography, individual cells can also be influenced by the pushing and pulling of neighboring cells. The emergent properties of collectively migrating cells show interesting dynamics and are relevant for cancer progression, but have been less studied than the motion of individual cells. We use Particle Image Velocimetry (PIV) to extract the motion of a collectively migrating cell sheet from time lapse images. The resulting flow fields allow us to analyze collective behavior over multiple length and time scales. To analyze the connection between individual cell properties and collective migration behavior, we compare experimental flow fields with the migration of simulated cell groups. Our collective migration metrics allow for a quantitative comparison between experimental and simulated results. This comparison shows that tissue-scale decreases in collective behavior can result from changes in individual cell activity without the need to postulate the existence of subpopulations of leader cells or global gradients. In addition to tissue-scale trends in collective behavior, the migration of cell groups includes localized dynamic features such as cell rearrangements. An individual cell may smoothly follow the motion of its neighbors (affine motion) or move in a more individualistic manner (non-affine motion). By decomposing individual motion into both affine and non-affine components, we measure cell rearrangements within a collective sheet. Finally, finite-time Lyapunov exponent (FTLE) values capture the stretching of the flow field and reflect its chaotic character. Applying collective migration analysis techniques to experimental data on both malignant and non-malignant human breast epithelial cells reveals differences in collective behavior that are not found from analyzing migration speeds alone. Non-malignant cells show increased cooperative motion on long time scales whereas malignant cells remain uncooperative as time progresses. Combining multiple analysis techniques also shows that these two cell types differ in their response to a perturbation of cell-cell adhesion through the molecule E-cadherin. In contrast, the migration behavior of malignant and invasive MCF10CA1a cells, which already shows decreased collective dynamics on both time scales, is insensitive to the change in E-cadherin expression.

Due to their unpredictable behavior, stock markets are examples of complex systems. Yet, the dominant analysis of these markets as- sumes simple stochastic variations, eventually tainted by short-lived memory. This paper proposes an alternative strategy, based on a stochastic geometry defining a robust index of the structural dynamics of the markets and based on notions of topology defining a new coef- ficient that identifies the structural changes occurring on the S&P500 set of stocks. The results demonstrate the consistency of the random hypothesis as applied to normal periods but they also show its in- adequacy as to the analysis of periods of turbulence, for which the emergence of collective behavior of sectoral clusters of firms is mea- sured. This behavior is identified as a meta-routine.

Free-riding behaviors exist in tourism and they should be analyzed from a comprehensive perspective; while the literature has mainly focused on free riders operating in a destination, the destinations themselves might also free ride when they are under the umbrella of a collective brand. The objective of this article is to detect potential free-riding destinations by estimating the contribution of the different individual destinations to their collective brands, from the point of view of consumer perception. We argue that these individual contributions can be better understood by reflecting the various stages that tourists follow to reach their final decision. A hierarchical choice process is proposed in which the following choices are nested (not independent): “whether to buy,” “what collective brand to buy,” and “what individual brand to buy.” A Mixed Logit model confirms this sequence, which permits estimation of individual contributions and detection of free riders.

Les kinases de la famille Polo (PLK) jouent un rôle majeur durant le cycle cellulaire, notamment en promouvant des processus essentiels tels que l’entrée en phase M et la sortie du cycle cellulaire. Elles sont également impliquées dans plusieurs cancers et ont un fort pouvoir tumorigène. Notre laboratoire a récemment montré que Cdc5 (la kinase PLK chez Saccharomyces cerevisiae) est également nécessaire pour l'adaptation aux dommages à l'ADN, et que la cible critique de Cdc5 au cours de ce processus pourrait être une cible peu conventionnelle localisée aux centrosomes de levures. Dans le but d’identifier ce substrat, une analyse intégrale du phosphoprotéome de PLK/Cdc5 par spectrométrie de masse devra être réalisée. Pour ce faire, un allèle CDC5 sensible à la température, c’est-à-dire une version mutante qui devient inactive à température élevée, devra être utilisée. Cet allèle devra être thermosensible à 30°C, afin de s’assurer qu’il sera le seul à être inactivé à cette température et que, par conséquent, seuls les substrats de Cdc5 seront identifiés. À cet effet, nous avons généré deux allèles cdc5 thermosensibles à 30°C : cdc5-17 et cdc5-18, puis analysé leur cycle cellulaire à 32°C. Les résultats de cette analyse ont montré que l’exposition des cellules à 32°C résulte en leur blocage en fin de mitose sous la forme bourgeonnée, témoignant d’un défaut dans la promotion de la sortie de la mitose. Ce défaut est causé par la mutation du gène CDC5 dont la protéine favorise la sortie de la mitose via deux voies : la voie du MEN (Mitotic Exit Network) et la voie du FEAR (Cdc Fourteen Early Anaphase Release). cdc5-17 et cdc5-18 représentent des outils biologiques précieux qui permettront de mieux analyser le phosphoprotéome de PLK/Cdc5 et de mener à l’identification des cibles de Cdc5 lors de la réponse d’adaptation aux dommages à l’ADN. Étant donné que l’adaptation aux dommages à l’ADN causés par des chimiothérapies représente l’un des facteurs permettant la prolifération des tumeurs cancéreuses, cette découverte serait un grand pas dans la lutte contre le cancer.
