In this work we report the development of a tube amplifier built to be used in magnetic probe diagnostic of plasma. The probe is used to measure the magnetic field in the theta-pinch system presently running in our university. We present the calculations and procedures to determine the configuration of circuits and specify the components of the power supply, the preamp stage and the power stage. The circuit configuration and the characteristics of the components was obtained. A representative model of the system behavior gave the transfer function of the amplifier. Theoretical predictions of frequency response and the feedback effects were compared to the experimental values and showed very good agreement. The amplifier works between a frequency bandwidth of 20 an 30 kHz and supply a maximum power of 12 W

Several hormonal and physiological changes that occur during pregnancy directly affect gastrointestinal motility (GI), however, very little is known about the relationship between the electrical and mechanical activities of the stomach and its implications. The aim of this study was to compare the female sex hormones, with profiles of gastrointestinal motility using AC biosusceptometry (BAC) in pregnant rats. Seven female Wistar rats (weighing 250-350 g) were used and all procedures were approved by the local Ethics Committee of animal. Laparotomy was performed on anesthetized rats and a magnetic marker (3.5 mm in diameter and 3.0 mm height) was implanted in the distal stomach. After 10 days of recuperation, the mice were put to mate until confirmation of pregnancy. Fed animals were anesthetized (mg pentobarbital 30 / kg) and kept supine for recording the signal with a sensor 30 min BAC placed on the abdominal surface on days 0, 7, 14 and 20 of gestation. Statistical analysis was performed by Student's t test statistical Newman-Keuls and a P value of .05 was considered statistically significant. The frequency of contraction of the stomach was 74 mHz ± 3, 67 ± 7 mHz, 59 mHz ± 6 (p <0.05 vs day -1) and 71 ± 5 mHz on days -0, -7, -14, and -20, respectively. The values of 44 ± 15 pg / mL and 31 ± 9 pg / ml 25 ± 6 pg / ml, 22 ± 9 pg / ml on days -0, -7, -14 and -20, respectively, obtained by 17ß- estradiol were not statistically significant. The values of progesterone were 13 ± 6 pg / ml at 54 ± 15 pg / ml, 127 ± 42 pg / ml (p <0.05 vs day-1), 22 ± 13 pg / mL on day -0, - 7, -14 and -20, respectively. A linear correlation (Pearson's test) between the lower frequency gastric and increased levels of progesterone was 80% (p <0.0000001). The Biosusceptometry AC (BAC) is a research tool that has been extensively explored by the group Biomagnetism IBB-UNESP for monitoring of the gastrointestinal tract, its response to a known drug or in vivo performance of solid dosage forms. During this period the BAC, which has the characteristics of high sensitivity and low cost, has been developed primarily for recording signals contraction of activity and traffic human gastrointestinal tract. With the possibility of producing images with this instrumentation, it was possible to evaluate different situations in vitro and in vivo for physiological studies and pharmaceuticals. Considering the good performance of this system to produce planar images, the first aim of the BAC system tomography (TBAC) was to evaluate the system performance of BAC to produce tomographic images of phantoms ferromagnetic for a single channel system. All these applications were only possible because of their sensitivity to materials of high magnetic suscepitibility as ferrite, which allow to produce an electrical signal proportional to the variation of the magnetic flux generated by the presence of magnetic marker next to a first-order gradiometer. Measuring this variation at various points was possible to generate planar images that recently came to be produced in systems with multiple detectors, said multi-channels. From planar images, also producing tomographic images of simulators BAC bars in a system of 13 channels using only the center channel, with good results when applied to simple objects as one and two bars. When testing the resolution of the system with more elaborate forms the quality and resolution of images reconstructed is not satisfactory, which would be solved by increasing the spatial sampling rate and hence the acquisition time. Due to the need of more agility, dynamism and reliability in stock management, the market has turned its attention to RFID, which offers a practical solution and live up to the big corporations' expectations. The search for continuous improvement establishes a direct link with RFID, for its technology offers accurate real time information in any monitored given place. RFID is a radio frequency communication technology. A reader communicates to a tag through waves. This tag can be active, with a battery, or passive, in which its power is supplied by currents induced by the field variation it is exposed to. The RFID technology has a well defined basic principle, but there are many constructive ways of implementing it. The adaptability as well as the flexibility regard to the several kinds of stock in industry, reaching their particular needs. RFID can lower maintenance costs in stock by collecting data more accurately, lowering human error and optimizing the item handling at its reception, exit and while it is inside the company. This paper presents an example of RFID technology applied in a company's stock management. It is possible to prove that there are, in fact, great advantages in implementing this technology, as it creates the opportunity for continuous improvement in stock management, with better application of material, labour and quality tools, since the data collected through an automatized process using RFID are more reliable and dynamic

A parameter commonly used in investigations of environmental magnetism is the magnetic susceptibility (MS), which is the quantitative measure of the ability of magnetization of a specific material in the presence of an induced magnetic field. The present study aimed to determine the magnetic susceptibility of sediments collected on the continental shelf near the Santos Basin, southeast of the São Sebastião island (25°57.97’S 45°07.81'W), seeking to identify the possible source area of terrigenous sediments and the flow patterns of siliciclastic sediment yield in the area. It was used particle size analysis and contents of organic matter and calcium carbonate to characterize the sediments, besides paleomagnetism parameters. The analyzed material - core NAP61-1 - was collected using the piston corer sampler in 60 meters water depth, recovering 3.98 meters of sediment core. As from experiments, cyclicity was observed in relative abundance between sand and silt, most likely due to rapid and cyclical variations in the depositional environment. In general, the MS values are low, and show that the sand supply (terrigenous material) has a certain consistency, probably having the same origin. More absolute age is still necessary to establish clearly the events marked here

Oral administration is widely accepted route for drug delivery and solid dosage forms are commonly employed. The variation of absorption profiles along the human gastrointestinal tract (GIT) and the ability to target drugs by adequate dosage forms to distinct sites is the challenge in the pharmaceutical development of solid dosage forms. AC Biosusceptometry (ACB) is a technique that deserves consideration due to its features, accuracy of results and versatility. The purpose of this work was to evaluate, by employing the AC Biosusceptometer, the rate of swelling of systems matrices consisting of hydrophilic polymer (hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose) and magnetic material. Matrices tablets were evaluated in vitro to a more detailed analysis of kinetics of swelling, in addition to the study and application of mathematical models to correlate the magnetic area variation and the water uptake. All the procedures for qualitative and quantitative analysis of digital signals as well as the magnetic images processing were performed in MatLab® (Mathworks Inc.). ACB technique proved to be useful towards estimating the swelling properties of hydrophilic matrices in vitro, showing a promising capacity for further analyses involving dissolution test and in vivo studies, supporting their innovative potential pharmaceutical applications

Ao administrar um fármaco, devem ser considerados fatores como a forma farmacêutica apropriada, a via de administração com maior eficiência e o que será mais bem aceita pelo paciente. Formas farmacêuticas sólidas (FFS), tais como comprimidos, representam a principal escolha, pois são fáceis de preparar, armazenar, transportar e são bem aceitas pelos pacientes. Porém, a absorção dos fármacos administrados em comprimidos depende do processo de desintegração, ou seja, um processo tempo-dependente que ocorre sob a ação de um desintegrante que promove a fragmentação da forma farmacêutica em partículas passíveis de serem dissolvidas e absorvidas. Para uma liberação efetiva do ativo, uns dos critérios relacionados à formulação como a escolha dos excipientes e o tipo de revestimento devem ser considerados. O revestimento com polímeros é utilizado para melhorar a estabilidade do fármaco, mascarar sabor ou para promover a liberação em locais específicos de acordo com a variação do pH. A técnica considerada como “padrão ouro” para monitorar FFS no trato gastrintestinal do homem é a cintilografia, entretanto, métodos alternativos com base na detecção de campo magnético merecem destaque. A técnica de Biosusceptometria de Corrente Alternada (BAC) tem evoluído, apresentando como vantagem ser um método não-invasivo e livre de radiação ionizante. A BAC utiliza bobinas de indução para registrar a variação temporal do fluxo magnético a partir da resposta de um material magnético ingerido, aplicando-se um campo magnético alternado no meio biológico. O objetivo deste estudo é empregar a BAC para avaliar in vitro a influência de três diferentes polímeros de revestimento em diversos parâmetros farmacotécnicos e no processo de desintegração de comprimidos

The biomagnetic techniques use different magnetic field detectors to measure parameters of the human physiology. Those techniques present the advantage of being noninvasive and radiation free. Among them we can show up the Superconducting Quantum Interference Device (SQUID), the Current Alternate Biosusceptometry (ACB) and, more recently, the employment of anisotropic magnetoresistive sensors. Those magnetic sensors have a low cost and good sensitivity to measure different physiological parameters using magnetic markers. The biomagnetic techniques have being used successfully through study on the characteristics of the gastrointestinal tract. Recent research, the magnetoresistors were used to evaluate the transit time and localization of magnetic sources in different parts of the gastrointestinal tract. The objective of this work is the characterization, with in vitro tests, of a biomagnetic instrumentation using two 3-axis magnetoresistors arranged in a gradiometric coplanar setup to evaluate esophageal transit time, analyze and compare the results of experimental signals and the magnetic theory, as well as evaluate the instrumentation gain with use of tri-axial sensor front to the mono-axial sensor. The instrumentation is composed by two three-axis sensing magnetometers, precision power supply and amplifier electronic circuits. The sensors fixed in a coplanar setup were separate by distance of 18 cm. The sensitivity tests had been carried through using a cylindrical magnet (ø = 4 mm and h = 4 mm) of neodymium-iron-boron (grid 35). The study of gastrointestinal tract (GIT) functions is necessary due to the increasing number of pathologies associated with it. Directly influencing the quality of life, the gastrointestinal tract provides a number of parameters that, when analyzed, allow us to describe its dysfunctions. Thus, many techniques can be combined to obtain these properties related to the GIT. However, these techniques are often invasive, require surgery, catheter insertion, or to build a temporal model of these functions, require the sacrifice of animals in a series of data collection. The technique used in this study has the advantage of having a low operating cost, being free of ionizing radiation, non-invasive and is known as biosusceptometry AC (BAC), used to evaluate the properties of the GI tract by monitoring the position and concentration of materials magnetically marked. The sensor consists of two pairs of coils, one reference and one for detection. A fixed base line separates the sensing and reference coils, and also functions as support for the instrumentation. It is also important to note that the detection coils are arranged in a first order (subtraction) gradiometric way. The objective of this study was to analyze the effects of gastrectomy in gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit time of solid food in rats using a BAC system associated with magnetic markers. To realize this study was constructed a dedicated BAC sensor, built to analyze these GIT properties. Data acquisition was obtained by aligning the magnetic sensor with the stomach and colon of the animal at pre-determined intervals. The gastrointestinal tract is the main route of nutrients absorption and drugs delivery. Is important to know the parameters related to the tract, like gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit, in order to better understand the behavior of different kind of meals or drugs passing through the GIT. Many techniques are used to study these parameters, such as manometry, scintigraphy, phenol red, activated charcoal and carbon-13 reading. However, these methods use radiation, are invasive and require animal sacrifice. As an alternative proposal, the Alternate Current Biosusceptometry (ACB), a magnetic technique, has proved to be effective for these studies with small animals, in a noninvasive way, low cost, radiation free and avoiding the animal death. Associating the ACB to magnetic micro or nanoparticles used as tracers, it is possible to observe the meal behavior inside of the GIT. Focusing meanly on liquid meals digestion, this paper had the objective to evaluate the efficiency of the ACB technique in gastric emptying and gastrointestinal transit evaluation of liquid meals in rats. To perform the experiments, magnetic nanoparticles (ferrite, MgFe2O4) were used on a 1,5 ml solution introduced by gavage on similar weight and age rats. The sensor made by 2 pairs of coils, capable of generating and detecting magnetic fields, creates a field on the interest place and when this field is in contact with the marked meal, it changes, resulting on a variation of the measured voltage. The voltage variation is analyzed and is obtained a particle concentration on the interest region. The results showed that is possible to apply the ACB technique on the GIT evaluation of liquid particles digestion, gastric emptying and meal cecum arrival time curves were obtained and from that, is possible to observe a pattern of gastrointestinal transit. O trabalho analisa como se estabelece o processo de construção social de uma identidade territorial em dois assentamentos humanos na cidade de Huánuco, Peru. Os processos de assentamento se configuram por movimentos migratórios autônomos, por processo de migração forçada (refugiados), ou por políticas públicas específicas de assentamentos humanos, seja por instrumentos de reforma agrária e ou por reordenamento territorial, bem como por iniciativas concretas construídas pelos sujeitos a partir de sua atuação em movimentos sociais. Estes últimos se estabelecem de forma mais acentuada na América Latina, no campo e na cidade, por meio dos movimentos sociais de luta pela terra; no Brasil, em particular no campo, o MST se constitui em um grande protagonista, assim como em lutas por moradia também se encontra um movimento mais articulado denominado Movimento dos Sem Teto. Buscou-se compreender melhor como esses movimentos ocorrem no Peru e tendo como base empírica o município de Huánuco. Destaca-se que esse processo de reorganização espacial dos sujeitos gera dúvidas quanto a se constituir em um território de emancipação, de constituição de liberdade organizativa e de gestão, com capacidade de se transformar em elemento de alteridade, ou simplesmente de subordinação, confinamento, não permitindo a constituição de uma comunidade livre e autônoma. Diante destas questões exige-se uma reflexão sobre o processo de construção social de uma identidade territorial, como forma de entender as dinâmicas de apropriação territorial que se efetiva por comunidades nesta nova espacialidade ocupada e vivenciada, delimitando claramente se esta espacialidade constitui um território per si ou em si. Níveis elevados de agressividade estão diretamente relacionados ao crescimento heterogêneo e ao canibalismo, podendo levar a perdas significativas na produção no setor da aquicultura. Uma alternativa para redução da agressividade poderia ser o aumento da produção de serotonina por meio da suplementação dietética com o aminoácido triptofano (TRP). A serotonina é um neurotransmissor que regula diversos processos comportamentais, dentre eles, a agressividade e o estresse. Assim, neste estudo avaliamos o efeito da suplementação dietética com triptofano TRP no comportamento agressivo em juvenis de tilápia-do-Nilo. Os peixes foram mantidos em aquários individuais durante sete dias e alimentados uma vez ao dia “ad libitum” com as dietas: T1(controle: 0,32% de TRP), T2 (1,28% de TRP) e T3 (2,56% de TRP). O índice de agressividade foi avaliado com base na resposta do peixe à sua imagem no espelho. Contabilizamos o número de ataques (mordidas) à imagem de um espelho posicionado em uma das laterais do aquário durante vinte minutos. Os peixes alimentados com T3 apresentaram menor frequência de mordidas (P = 0,010849) durante o período de observação, em comparação ao grupo controle. Concluímos que a dieta contendo 25,6mg/g TRP altera a agressividade em juvenis de tilápia-do-Nilo e que a rações suplementadas com TRP podem ser uma estratégia eficiente no manejo de pisciculturas. Também avaliamos os efeitos do TRP exógeno na ansiedade (teste do objeto novo) e estresse (teste do confinamento) em juvenis da tilápia-do-Nilo, porém não houve diferenças significativas entre os tratamentos
