Book bands for guided reading : organising key stage one texts for the literacy hour.

Ha sido pensado para ayudar a los profesores a revisar, organizar y completar en las escuelas, las existencias de materiales de lectura para la etapa uno (Key Stage uno). También, proporciona las bases para establecer los procedimientos de lectura guiada en la etapa de alfabetización infantil, y para indicar cómo la lectura guiada encaja dentro de la National Literacy Strategy Framework for Teaching (Estrategia Nacional de Alfabetización Marco para la Enseñanza). Se reunieron casi cuatro mil libros para los niños, que se han agrupado teniendo en cuenta la gradación de dificultad de los textos en diez bloques, desde los más sencillos para los primeros lectores a áquellos utilizados al final de la etapa uno (Key stage uno) para lectores con más fluidez.

Managing land-use conflict around urban centres: Australian poultry farmer attitudes towards relocation

In analysing the release of agricultural land to urban development, the urban fringe literature has not focused on whether farmers are able to relocate from the urban fringe to remoter rural areas. Through interviews with representatives from the poultry industry in two Australian states, this paper identifies that poultry farm relocation strategies are constrained by off-farm economic relations, the land-use planning system and financial considerations. Closely aligned to these constraints on relocation is the on-going process of poultry farm intensification, which is seen as presenting rising problems for land-use management around expanding metropolitan centres in Australia. Of particular concern is the potential for amenity complaints and associated land-use conflicts, which have not been comprehensively investigated. Recognising that existing environmental and land-use planning controls are ineffective in producing amicable solutions when conflict involving poultry farming is at its most intense, the paper calls for improvements to the regulatory system, including greater consideration for how the process of relocation can be encouraged. The ν2, 2ν2, 3ν2, ν4 and ν2+ν4 bands of 15NH3

The ir absorption of gaseous 15NH3 between 510 and 3040 cm−1 was recorded with a resolution of 0.06 cm−1. The ν2, 2ν2, 3ν2, ν4, and ν2 + ν4 bands were measured and analyzed on the basis of the vibration-rotation Hamiltonian developed by V. Špirko, J. M. R. Stone, and D. Papoušek (J. Mol. Spectrosc. 60, 159–178 (1976)). A set of effective molecular parameters for the ν2 = 1, 2, 3 states was derived, which reproduced the transition frequencies within the accuracy of the experimental measurements. For ν4 and ν2 + ν4 bands the standard deviation of the calculated spectrum is about four times larger than the measurements accuracy: a similar result was found for ν4 in 14NH3 by Š. Urban et al. (J. Mol. Spectrosc. 79, 455–495 (1980)). This result suggests that the present treatment takes into account only the most significant part of the rovibration interaction in the doubly degenerate vibrational states of ammonia.

Vibration-rotation bands of diazomethane

Some absorption bands of diazomethane vapour between 1950-3500 cm-1 have been measured with very high resolving power. The rotational structure of two parallel bands and of one perpendicular band has been resolved, and approximate values have been determined for the rotational constants. The results are consistent with the geometrical structure usually accepted for this molecule. A peculiarity in the results for the band near 2100 cm-1, together with other facts, leads to the suggestion that a tautomeric form of this molecule exists, HCN=NH, being an isoelectronic analogue of hydrazoic acid.

Second order Coriolis resonance in the v2, v5 Raman bands of CH3F

The vibration-rotation Raman spectrum of the ν2 and ν5 fundamentals of CH3F is reported, from 1320 to 1640 cm−1, with a resolution of about 0.3 cm−1. The Coriolis resonance between the two bands leads to many perturbation-allowed transitions. Where the resonance is still sufficiently weak that the quantum number K′ retains its meaning, perturbation-allowed transitions are observed for all values of ΔK from +4 to −4; in regions of strong resonance, however, we can only say that the observed transitions obey the selection rule Δ(k−l) = 0 or ±3. The spectrum has been analyzed by band contour simulation using a computer program based on exact diagonalization of the Hamiltonian within the ν2, ν5 vibrational levels, and improved vibration-rotation constants for these bands are reported. The relative magnitudes and relative sings of polarizability derivatives involved in these vibrations are also reported.
