This work aims to identify the rootmetaphor of John Deweys philosophical and educational discourse, by means of rhetorical analyses parameters. This methodology is founded in Aristotle and in the works of Cham Perelman and other contemporary authors involved in the revision of Aristotelian philosophy. The article examines the essays The philosophical work of Herbert Spencer and The influence of darwinism on philosophy, published by John Dewey respectively in 1904 e 1909. They were written in the early years of Dewey in Columbia University, which intellectual environment was not dominated by Pragmatism, and for this reason they can be considered seminal in the structuring of the authors arguments. The analysis reveals that Dewey is favorable to Darwinian evolutionism thesis and opposite to Spencers one. This positioning suggests that Deweys discourse is bound to the metaphor undetermined route because it situates evolution as a process devoid of previously listed purposes at a pre-determined plan, subject only to the relations that are established, so unpredictable, between organisms and the environmental conditions that surround. Analyzing Deweys ideas about education, the article concludes that undetermined route is the rootmetaphor of Deweys discourse, hypothesis that can contribute to discuss Dewey in the context of contemporary philosophy.

This article consists on an analysis of dissertations and thesis on Participatory Budget (PB) in post-graduation courses in Brazil (from the CAPES data bank), from 2000 to 2009. It also makes the evolution of works explicit, the institutions where they were carried out, and the area in which they were produced. Results show that the Participatory Budget has not been often evaluated, understood and explained in terms of its finance and budget technical dimension, in spite of there are two decades studies have been carried out regarding this method on budget management in Brazil. Finally, the importance of understanding aspects on PB must be taken into consideration when carrying out new studies.

Neste artigo, apresentamos os resultados de um estudo que investigou o que as pesquisas dos Programas de Ps-Graduao em Educao do Estado de So Paulo produzidas entre 1980 e 2005, com foco nas prticas de professores alfabetizadores, dizem a respeito dos procedimentos, prticas e saberes que caracterizam a atuao desses docentes. Primeiramente, fazemos uma breve contextualizao da alfabetizao. Em seguida, destacamos a anlise do corpus (8 teses e 32 dissertaes) nos focos temticos: procedimentos de alfabetizao, prticas docentes e saberes docentes. Os dados apresentados neste artigo permitem apontar permanncias e indcios de alteraes nas prticas dos alfabetizadores e, consequentemente, nas pesquisas sobre essas prticas.

The aim of this paper is to point the main research tendencies in teaching and learning English as a foreign language in the main postgraduate courses in this area, in Brazil, in the period 2005-2010. The adopted methodology for the data collection included the inventory of theses and dissertations, which are included in the sites of the universities with research lines in Applied Linguistics and were produced in the mentioned period. The most productive categories were the ones related to teacher formation, translation, language and technology and studies about teachers and students beliefs.

This paper analyses the ideas and the work of Ansio Teixeira in the first years of the 1930s, focusing his conceptions concerning the value of Psychoanalysis for Educational Reform in Brazil. Whereas the ideas and practices Teixeira should be understood in the historical context in which they were developed, the work presents the history of the introduction of the psychoanalytic knowledge in the Brazilian Renovator Educational Movement, highlighting the relevance of hygienism in the dissemination of Freud's theses in education. The findings indicate that Teixeira interacted with the concepts of Psychoanalysis through the hygienist movement and the ideas of Arthur Ramos, considering the individual as being linked to the social environment.

A utilizao do smen resfriado na espcie equina amplamente difundida, no entanto, quando se trata do smen congelado existem certos entraves, os quais tornam o emprego desta biotcnica limitado. Porm seu uso est crescendo e com isso pesquisas com meios diluidores e protocolos de congelao tm sido realizados, a fim de se estabelecer um protocolo que seja eficiente para a congelao do smen da maioria dos garanhes. Essa reviso sistemtica tem como objetivo a anlise de estudos que tratam da congelabilidade do smen equino, bem como os principais componentes de um meio diluidor, a fim de demonstrar suas funes e fornecer alternativas para a substituio ou associao, principalmente de crioprotetores. Para tanto, foram utilizadas bases de dados com a seguinte estratgia: criopreservao, congelamento, diluentes, crioprotetores, glicerol, leite, smen e equino, presentes no ttulo ou resumo. Dentre os artigos encontrados foram selecionados 15 artigos nas lnguas portuguesa, espanhola e inglesa, publicados em revistas cientficas ou teses de mestrado, doutorado e trabalhos de concluso de curso. Tais artigos permitiram concluir que no existem protocolos de congelamento definidos para grupos de animais, mas que deve ser observado cada indivduo, ressaltando sua peculiaridade e estabelecendo o melhor diluente e protocolo

Neste artigo, reflito sobre a minha experincia como psicloga e docente-supervisora de estgio do curso de Psicologia de uma Universidade pblica. Atravs de fragmentos de registros mnmicos das produes registradas em relatrios, comunicaes e artigos cientficos, dissertao de mestrado, teses de doutorado e de livre docente, entre outros, procurei analisar a efetivao das polticas pblicas e os desdobramentos na construo de um novo modelo de sade mental, denominado de Ateno Psicossocial. Observei que atualmente as Polticas Pblicas para Sade Mental, construdas a partir do Movimento da Reforma Psiquitrica, vm propiciando mudanas significativas para o cuidado dos usurios. No entanto, o estado atual da assistncia em sade mental, no pas, marcado por muitos problemas e desafios. Entre eles se destaca a necessidade dos novos servios oferecerem uma ateno integral ao usurio, norteada na interdisciplinariedade, interprofissionalidade e intersetorialidade.

The objective of this study was to present the use of selfconfrontation in applied linguistics (AL) research on teachers activities. Selfconfrontation was developed by Fata (1997), and improved by Clot (2006) within the context of Activity Clinics. It is a device that attempts to capture the multiple discourses around an activity and enable its transformation by workers. Thus, a qualitative research approach was employed and documental analysis of theses, dissertations and papers abstracts produced in Brazil (1987 to 2011), available in the electronic site of CAPES, was performed. The results demonstrated that selfconfrontation is used in a fragmented manner in AL studies that examine teachers activities, being primarily used for the collection of data, with little emphasis being placed on the transformation of the labor process.

The partnership between Mental Health (MH) and work is present throughout the history of psychiatry. Capitalist society has used and uses the fitness or unfitness for work not only as one of the elements to the definition of "normality", but also as a treatment strategy. In this perspective, one can find a position healing and, more recently, a different proposal put forward by the psychiatric reform that considers also make / produce, the construction of meaning in the work as crucial for subjectivity. This sense is present in therapeutic workshops that seek to value the uniqueness, not to override the differences. The objective of this paper is to reflect on the relationship between Attention in SM / Work. Initially presents three theses, from which this relationship is built historically: 1 - Work as a means of avoiding idleness returning productively to society; 2 - Work as a healing practice, from the prescription, and 3 - Work as a strategy for care and social inclusion. Below, we discuss some questions about therapeutic workshops and income generation in the mental health care as a device for attention and social inclusion.

This article presents an academic and scientific study about the use of the device methodological and intervening of selfconfrontation in research in post-graduate studies in Education in Brazil. The self-confrontation is a device created by linguist Daniel Fata and perfected by psychologist Yves Clot. She seeks to capture the multiple discourses and perspectives around a particular craft, integrating researcher and workers to facilitate the installation of a dialectical movement of analysis and production of knowledge about the work, ownership of these knowledge workers and the collective transformation of labor activity. We chose a qualitative approach and the realization of documental analysis of the abstracts of researches that resulted in the production of doctoral theses and dissertations held in Brazil between 1987 and 2011. Were examined studies that had their abstracts gathered and made available by the Coordenadoria de Aperfeioamento de Pessoal de Nvel Superior (CAPES) on its website. The results show that self-confrontation is used piecemeal studies produced in the area of Education, used primarily to collect data and to give less emphasis to the transformation of the labor process.

Nitric oxide (NO) is a free radical gas, inorganic, which has seven electrons of nitrogen and oxygen eight, possessing an unpaired electron. This radical is produced from L-arginine by a reaction mediated by the enzyme NO synthase. NO it is about a radical of who acts abundant on a variety of biological processes, particularly when produced by endothelial cells plays a significant role in cardiovascular control, as a modulator of peripheral vascular resistance and platelet aggregation. This free radical has also a neurotransmitter and mediator of the immune system. NO kidney function has been considered in many physiological functions such as: (a) regulation of hemodynamics and glomerular function tubuloglomerular, (b) participation in pressure natriuresis (c) maintaining medullar perfusion (d) inhibiting sodium reabsorption tubular, and (e) acting as a modulator of the activity of the sympathetic nervous system. Given these functions, the occurrence of its deficiency is associated with chronic kidney disease (CKD) in vasoconstriction and consequently glomerular hypertension, high blood pressure (HBP), proteinuria and progression of renal dysfunction. This work has the scope to describe the role of NO in renal physiology and pathophysiology of CKD.
