Die Vermittlung des heimlichen Lehrplans im Klassenraum : - Beobachtungen zu genderspezifischen Interaktionen mittels experimentellem Design

Der heimliche Lehrplan beschreibt soziale Werte, Normen und Regeln, welcher als Sozialisationsprozess den Schulalltag beeinflusst. Die eigens für die Thesis erstellten Hypothesen fragen nach der Validität der Methode sowie genderspezifischen Interaktionen. Schwerpunkt dieser Bachelor-Thesis sind Beobachtungen in zwei Sekundarschulen. Das Untersuchungsdesign ist experimentell an den Erhebungsbogen von zwei amerikanischen Wissenschaftlerinnen aus dem Jahr 1993 angelehnt. Nach einer Pretestphase sowie Modifizierungsprozess wurde das gewonnene Material quantitativ mithilfe des SPSS-Programms und qualitativ durch die Inhaltsanalyse aufbereitet und ausgewertet. Die Hypothesen werden durch die Auswertung und mithilfe von Gütekriterien beantwortet, sodass die Methodenvalidität größtenteils belegt werden kann. Tendenzen für geschlechterspezifische Interaktionen sind erkennbar, allerdings schwer zu generalisieren. Im Fazit wird die Bedeutung des heimlichen Lehrplans sowie die Geschlechtergerechtigkeit in Schulen diskutiert.

On the design of peer punishment experiments

We discuss how technologies of peer punishment might bias the results that are observed in experiments. A crucial parameter is the “fine-to-fee” ratio, which describes by how much the punished subjects income is reduced relatively to the fee the punishing subject has to pay to inflict punishment. We show that a punishment technology commonly used in experiments embeds a variable fine-to-fee ratio and show that it confounds the empirical findings about why, whom, and how much subjects punish.

Competition with forward contracts: a laboratory analysis motivated by electricity market design

We use experiments to study the efficiency effects for a market as a whole of adding the possibility of forward contracting to a pre-existing spot market. We deal separately with the cases where spot market competition is in quantities and where it is in supply functions. In both cases we compare the effect of adding a contract market with the introduction of an additional competitor, changing the market structure from a triopoly to a quadropoly. We find that, as theory suggests, for both types of competition the introduction of a forward market significantly lowers prices. The combination of supply function competition with a forward market leads to high efficiency levels.

1st National Accessiblity Plan 2004-2012: achieving equal opportunities and full participation through design for all

According to official statistics, disabled people in Spain number 3.5 million and make up 8.8% of the Spanish population. This group of people are increasingly being recognised as members of society with equal rights, and many of their demands are gradually being transformed into solutions that benefit society as a whole. One example is improved accessibility. Accessible built environments are more human and inclusive places, as well as being easier to get around. Improved accessibility is now recognised as a requirement shared by all members of society, although it is achieved thanks to the demands of disabled people and their representatives. The 1st National Accessibility Plan is a strategic framework for action aimed at ensuring that new products, services and built environments are designed to be accessible for as many people as possible (Design for All) and that existing ones are gradually duly adapted.

Rational design of an organometallic glutathione transferase inhibitor.

Double trouble: A hybrid organic-inorganic (organometallic) inhibitor was designed to target glutathione transferases. The metal center is used to direct protein binding, while the organic moiety acts as the active-site inhibitor (see picture). The mechanism of inhibition was studied using a range of biophysical and biochemical methods.

Challenge of transition in the socio-professional insertion of youngsters with neurodisabilities

Patients with neurodisabilities require early management, continuing into adulthood. Thus, transition services were implemented in hospitals. To have a better support when they enter into adult life, it is useful to know the problems that they could face. The aim of this study is to evaluate their activities and to assess their insertion problems in the professional world. It is based on medical records of patients, aged 16 to 25 years, followed in the transition clinic of young adults in the Neurorehabilitation services of a tertiary centre. From 387 patients of the paediatric consultation, there are 267 patients (69%), included 224 with neurodevelopmental diseases and 43 with neuromuscular diseases. Nearly half of them (46.8%) were in a protected environment, 37.08% studied and 3.4% worked. Paradoxically, only 29.2% reported work problems. These results highlight the need to increase the integration of young adults with neuromotor disorders in the labor market.
