Incômodo causado pelo zumbido medido pelo Questionário de Gravidade do Zumbido

OBJETIVO: O Tinnitus Handicap Inventory é um questionário para avaliar as conseqüências do zumbido, quantificando os déficits psicoemocionais e funcionais provocados pelo sintoma. O objetivo do estudo foi apresentar e testar a adaptação para o português brasileiro desse questionário, denominado Questionário de Gravidade do Zumbido. MÉTODOS: O questionário traduzido foi aplicado em 135 indivíduos com queixa de zumbido atendidos em dois ambulatórios de audiologia da cidade de Bauru, SP, encaminhados para avaliação audiológica. A consistência interna foi avaliada pelos coeficientes a de Cronbach, comparados aos obtidos para a versão original. RESULTADOS: Obteve-se boa confiabilidade tanto para as escalas (0,76o para todo o questionário, visto que o valor obtido (a=0,93) é idêntico àquele encontrado na consistência total do instrumento original. CONCLUSÕES: Os resultados sugerem que a adaptação em português do questionário pode ser utilizado na prática clínica como um instrumento de medida para as dificuldades cotidianas provocadas pelo zumbido naqueles indivíduos que o percebem.

Size at maturity and egg capsules of the softnose skates Bathyraja brachyurops (Fowler, 1910) and Bathyraja macloviana (Norman, 1937) (Elasmobranchii: Rajidae) in the SW Atlantic (37 degrees 00'-39 degrees 30'S)

P>The softnose skates Bathyraja brachyurops and Bathyraja macloviana represent an important portion of the skate catches of the Uruguayan trawling fleet in the southwestern Atlantic. From March to October 2004, specimens of these species were collected at 75-200 m depth range in the area situated between latitudes 37 degrees 00'-39 degrees 30'S. For B. brachyurops, total length at which 50% of the specimens were retained by the gear was 68.0 cm for both sexes; T(L50) was estimated at 65.4 cm for males and 67.0 cm for females. For B. macloviana, total length at which 50% of the specimens were retained was 56.0-57.0 cm for both sexes; T(L50) was estimated at 53.5 cm for males and 52.0 cm for females. Egg capsule length varied from 79-91 mm in B. brachyurops and 69-75.5 mm in B. macloviana. In both species, capsules displayed striated surfaces and similar gross morphology, although egg capsules of B. macloviana had more robust anterior horns and a smaller size than those of B. brachyurops. Egg capsules of the latter also exhibited microscopical prickles. Capsule edges were laterally keeled with a groove along the keel, and a straight and transverse velum was present in the egg capsules of both species.

New record of Rhagomys rufescens (Thomas 1886) (Rodentia : Muridae : Sigmodontinae) in the Atlantic forest of southeastern Brazil

Rhagomys rufescens is a threatened Sigmodontinae rodent from the Atlantic forest of southeastern Brazil, known by a few specimens deposited in scientific collections. This work presents a new record of this species, collected in Parque Estadual da Serra do Mar-Nucleo Picinguaba (Ubatuba, SP) in April 2002, and some biological data. This finding reinforces the urgency of improving collecting efforts in Atlantic forest, in order to know and preserve its biodiversity.

3-BODY COLLAPSE FOR TABAKIN POTENTIALS AND THE THOMAS EFFECT

A system constituted of three bosons interacting via two-body separable potentials with fixed two-boson binding is known to lead to bound-state collapse in the case where the potential parameters allow two-boson S-matrix poles close to (resonance) and on (continuum bound state) the real momentum axis. The collapse is shown to be accompanied by an increase in the average kinetic energy of the two-body bound state, which signals a decrease in the range of the two-body interaction for fixed two-body binding. The collapse is claimed to be a manifestation of the well-known Thomas effect which leads to a collapse of the three-body system when the range of the two-body interaction goes to zero for a fixed two-body binding.

Comparação de métodos de determinação da gravidade específica de ovos de poedeiras comerciais

The objective of this work was to compare the results of measuring the specific gravity (SG) of laying hen eggs by using a weighing apparatus and the saline flotation method (SFM). Two hundred eggs from two genetic lines were distributed randomly into two groups of 50 eggs per genetic line and were submitted to two different sequences of SG measurement. Not significant differences were found between the two methods. The weighing apparatus measured the SG of the eggs accurately as the SFM.

Geoquímica de gnaisses do arco magmático de goiás na região sul do estado de goiás

Granitic to trondhjemitic gneisses from the Pontalina region in the southern part of Goiás State, Central Brazil, have calcic to calc-alkaline, metaluminous to peraluminous compositions. They have low concentrations of alkaline elements, and are enriched in Ba, Sr, K, Rb in relation to Nb, Y, Zr and REE, and have negative anomalies of Nb and Ti, features which are similar to those of magmas generated in magmatic arc environments. Those rocks were previously interpreted as part of the basement of the Brasília Belt, attributed to the Archean to Paleoproterozoic, but new Sm - Nd isotopic data indicate a neoproterozoic age (TDM = 0,9 a 1,2 Ga), and the preliminary geochemical data reveal compositions similar to the gneisses of the other regions belonging to the Goiás Magmatic Arc.
