Gwladys Cunningham fonds, 1933-1934, 1940, 1942-1968, n.d.

Gwladys Cunningham was the Secretary-Treasurer of the Lincoln N.D.P. Ladies Group as well as involved in the CCF [Co-operative Commonwealth Federation] branch in Thorold. Additional Cunningham family members may also have been involved in the activities of the Thorold Branch. The Thorold branch of the Ontario division of The Co-operative Commonwealth Federation held its first meeting on June 15, 1933 at the home of Mark Kriluck. The branch became an official unit of the CCF when it was granted a charter in August of that same year. Officers elected at the annual meeting in October were W.G. Campbell, President, Jane Griffiths, Vice-President, James Logan Secretary and Mark Kriluck Treasurer. In 1960 the CCF voted to officially change their name to The New Democratic Party. The branch later became known as the Lincoln and Welland Riding Association of The New Democratic Party. Rare publications directly related to the CCF and the NDP remain with the fonds. Some publications were removed and placed in the general stack collection. See below for a list of books that were removed from the fonds and placed in the general collection.

A letter from James Wilson, Park Superintendent to Albert D. Shaw in the year 1892. Wilson describes plans to produce hydroelectric power using Niagara Falls. He details advantages to the plan in this five page correspondence with Shaw.

There was to be a meeting on the 10th day of October for public examination of the insolvent. The document was signed by James McWhirter, official assignee, Sept. 20, 1866.

Indenture of memorandum of an agreement between S.D. Woodruff and James L. Burton and M. Burton

Indenture of memorandum of an agreement between S.D. Woodruff of St. Catharines and James L. Burton and M. Burton, both of Barrie, trading under the name of Burton and Bro. that Burton and Bro. would buy all the pine timber located in berths 192 and 198. Burton and Bro. agrees to have all timber cut. The agreement is signed by S.D. Woodruff and Burton and Bro. This document is badly burned along the left hand side. This does not affect the text, July 11, 1877.

De la gestion des ressources fauniques à la participation au processus d'évaluation environnementale : l'évolution d'un droit constitutionnel chez les Cris de la Baie James

Les Cris de la Baie James sont parmi les premiers bénéficiaires d'un traité moderne qui prévoit un rôle d��terminant pour les Autochtones dans la gestion de l'environnement et du d��veloppement des ressources naturelles. À travers la Convention de la Baie James et du Nord québécois, les Cris participent à la gestion de l'environnement et sont assurés d'un droit de regard sur les projets de d��veloppement futurs dans l'ensemble de leur partie du territoire conventionné. Cette participation, qui est le fruit d'une intense négociation, est aujourd'hui renforcée, à travers des ententes de coopération subséquentes, grâce notamment, à l'émergence du mouvement écologiste qui a contribué à la reconnaissance d'un rôle particulier pour les Autochtones à l'égard de l'environnement. Par l'examen des mécanismes de protection de l'environnement, notamment le processus d'évaluation environnementale, aux termes du chapitre 22 de la Convention de la Baie James et du Nord québécois, cette étude met en lumière l'importance du processus de négociation et des droits qui en résultent par rapport à ceux reconnus en vertu de la doctrine des droits ancestraux telle que d��veloppée récemment par les tribunaux canadiens.

Métafiction et érotisme dans trois romans contemporains : A Sport and a Pastime de James Salter, Teorema de Pier Paolo Pasolini et Trou de mémoire d'Hubert Aquin

Cette thèse prend son point de d��part d'une théorie élaborée par Linda Hutcheon. Elle propose que la métafiction est souvent exploitée à travers quatre genres. L’un deux est l'érotisme. Ainsi, à partir de cette id��e, cet ouvrage va examiner plus profond��ment les liens et les implications entre ce concept de la métafiction, qui sera revu et résumé, et l'érotisme. Les trois romans choisis, A Sport and a Pastime de James Salter, Teorema de Pier Paolo Pasolini et Trou de mémoire de Hubert Aquin, serviront de lieux d'analyse afin de révéler le rapport étroit qu'entretiennent la métafiction et l'érotisme.
