This article intends to inventory the medias that also cover Third Age in Brazil, in view of that all the demographic pointers reveal the accented process of aging of the worldwide population, and therefore of our country. A time that the journalists cannot ignore the changes that occur in the interior of the society, in which it is the main area of performance of the journalism, we want to understand why the Brazilian media still dedicates so little space to this phenomenon of the elderly, in contrast of what occurs in other countries. We ask ourselves, then, if the change in the way of looking at the elderly one would not have to be born inside of the University, through the young who prepare for the exercise of the profession, with citizenship and social concern. In the Course of Journalism of the UNESP/Bauru a group of future journalists is searching this subject, for this they sign this article.

This paper is aimed at understanding which the most important difficulties and alternatives to include students with visual impairments in physics classes. It presents and discusses the difficulties and viabilities of having a born blind student effectively attend Modern Physics classes. Using content analysis, this experiment identifies 6 functional classes that might correspond to difficulties and 4 which refer to the viabilities. Therefore, the importance of appropriate communicative environments, the including role of the interactivity element, as well as the need for destitution of segregation environments inside classroom, are emphasized.

Considering the importance of the inclusion of Modern and Contemporary Physics in the curriculum of Physics in High School, it is proposed in this work an experimental activity, made with low- cost materials, which presents the photoelectric effect. This activity can be used articulating this phenomenon with some technological applications experienced by the students in their daily lives. When working the experiment, the teacher can encourage students to investigate what happens during its execution and, through questions, get them to express their ideas in the previous attempt to explain its operation. This articulation linked to social interaction in the classroom can arouse the students’curiosity and motivation of students to learn the subject taught in classroom.

Taking into consideration various argumentation perspectives, the introduction of Modern and Contemporary Physics at High School level has been defended by various researchers. In the present qualitative nature research, we heard and interpreted ten High School physics teachers’ discourses, aiming to analyze how their initial education, regarding to Modern and Contemporary Physics, was based in a rationality which matches with the communicative and the dialogical actions. Teachers of our sample were individually interviewed and, at that time, they had finished their initial undergraduate program at least five years before. Teachers’ discourses interpretation was supported by some French school discourse analysis’ concepts, Jürgen Habermas’ communicative action, Freire’s dialogical action, as well as teachers’ education research critical referential. The discourses interpretations evidenced that these teachers’ education, with respect to Modern and Contemporary Physics, was mainly based in technical-instrumental rationality basis. This perspective did not help teachers’ autonomy construction in order to work these subjects in their classes, mainly in a perspective coherent with the teachers’ emancipation, producing reflexes in classroom physics teaching. The study evidenciates the necessity of future teachers’ professors revise theirs teaching practice, as well studying other curricular structures, regarding to Modern and Contemporary Physics teaching.

Nowadays, there is an increasing demand for subjective aspects of the interface between human beings and the products and systems that surround them, whether in the workplace or at home. This study addresses the association of age and the perception of difficulty during a simulation of opening process PET bottles for soft drinks. During the activities, the subjects exerted their maximum torque forces, trying to open five different models of these packages, and then they assigned scores for perception in a scale. The results indicate that for some models, there were differences between levels of perceived difficulty between age groups.

This article is inserted in a wider study that seeks to understand the main inclusion barriers in Physics classes for students with visual impairment It aims to understand which communication context favors or impedes the visually impaired student participation to the impairment visual student’s real participation in Modern Physics activities. The research defines, from the empirical-sensory and semantics structures, the languages used in the activities, as well as, the moment and the speech pattern in which those languages have been used. As a result, this study identifies a strong relation between the uses of the interdependent empirical structure audio-visual language in the non-interactive episodes of authority; a decrease of this structure use in the interactive episodes; the creation of education segregation environments within the clasroom and the frequent use of empirical tactile-hearing interdependent language structure in these environments. Moreover, the concept of «special educational need» is discussed and its inadequate use is analyzed. Suggestions are given for its correct use of «special educational need,» its inadequate use, giving suggestions for its correct use.

Esse trabalho objetiva o estudo da sexualidade na Idade Média, a fim de analisar as marcas construídas pela história que contribuíram para a formação dos pensamentos fortemente presentes na sociedade contemporânea relacionados à homofobia. A Idade Média foi um período de grandes mudanças na sociedade, onde houve a disseminação de pensamentos relacionados à sexualidade que prejudicaram a vida de muitas pessoas, inclusive dos homossexuais. Portanto, para a realização dessa pesquisa serão considerados os acontecimentos marcantes sobre a sexualidade nessa época. Desse modo, considerando as concepções construídas e passadas de geração em geração, presenciamos atualmente grande ocorrência de episódios de preconceito e violência contra homossexuais, justificadas com argumentos fundamentados em ideias de tempos remotos. Assim, por meio de uma pesquisa bibliográfica, buscaremos compreender essas marcas deixadas pelo tempo utilizadas até hoje como instrumentos de preconceito e violência e geradoras de um fator contemporâneo, a homofobia

Some ecological attributes of planktonic copepods (composition, diversity, abundance and its relations with limnological variables) were compared in two deep and dendritic reservoirs, 470km from each other, with contrasting water retention time (WRT) and ages of construction. Data were grouped from two different studies: samples were collected monthly between March/00 to February/01, on the Salto Caxias Reservoir (Iguaçu River), and tri-monthly between January/00 to October/01, on the Chavantes Reservoir (Paranapanema River). Eight species of Calanoida and six of Cyclopoida were identified in both reservoirs. The highest richness was observed in Salto Caxias (12 taxa) when compared with Chavantes (8 taxa), and six species were exclusive to Salto Caxias and two from Chavantes. Salto Caxias was studied one year after the construction, consequently with higher nutrients values in this period and showed generally high mean values of Copepoda (nauplius, copepodits and adults) than Chavantes, which is 38 years old. Some parameters as transparency, conductivity, turbidity and total nitrogen were significantly related with copepod abundance. New formation and sufficient long WRT could be an important cause for the highest richness of Calanoida and total abundance of individuals in Salto Caxias Reservoir.

The seedling transplanting ages is a factor of great importance because it can affect the quality and yield of plants if the volume of the cell is not compatible with the phenology of seedlings at time of transplantation. The experiment was conducted at São Manuel Experimental farm, Faculdade de Ciências Agronômicas da UNESP, from March to August, 2009. The objective of this study was to evaluate the effect of seedling age on cabbage production, hybrid Kenzan. The seedlings were grown in polystyrene trays containing 128 cells. Seedings were done every four days and contained the following treatments: 37, 41, 45, 49 and 53 days after sowing (DAS). The experimental design was randomized blocks, with five replications. On transplantation’s day (11/05/2009), the number of leaves, fresh and dry weight and height, were evaluated to the characterization of seedlings. It was observed that the seedling age had no influence on traits at harvest: number of leaves inside and outside of “head”, fresh weight of shoot and “head”, dry mass of shoot and “head” and length of “heart”.
