Dins del projecte de recerca I+D Impressi expandida: repercussions dels mitjans digitals en el context de lart imprs, amb codi: HUM 2007-64757/ARTE i finanat pel Ministerio de Ciencia yTecnologia, lany 2007 es va constituir un sub-grup que, sota el nom dArs Combinatoria, hatreballat en la investigaci de la impressi digital sobre diferents suports.Aquest equip investigador est format per les professores M.Merc Casanovas, Cristina Past iEva Vila (collaboradora) , totes elles vinculades a la prctica i la docncia del gravat, la litografia ila serigrafia .Linters i la dedicaci per aquestes disciplines ha anat ampliant-se i creixent amb laportaci delsmitjans digitals, que han suposat un canvi en el format, en el projecte i en la concepci de lobra.Per dur a terme aquesta recerca, hem rebut el suport de lempresa barcelonina EGM Laboratoriscolor, especialitzada en la impressi digital dalta resoluci.Des daleshores sha seguit una investigaci profunda sobre les diferents possibilitats de laimpressi digital damunt suports convencionals i no convencionals. Tota una recerca que, fins al moment, sha concretat en tres exposicions, dues de collectives i una dindividual, que mostren els resultats obtinguts.

Turtle Mountain in Alberta, Canada has become an important field laboratory for testing different techniques related to the characterization and monitoring of large slope mass movements as the stability of large portions of the eastern face of the mountain is still questionable. In order to better quantify the volumes potentially unstable and the most probable failure mechanisms and potential consequences, structural analysis and runout modeling were preformed. The structural features of the eastern face were investigated using a high resolution digital elevation model (HRDEM). According to displacement datasets and structural observations, potential failure mechanisms affecting different portions of the mountain have been assessed. The volumes of the different potentially unstable blocks have been calculated using the Sloping Local Base Level (SLBL) method. Based on the volume estimation, two and three dimensional dynamic runout analyses have been performed. Calibration of this analysis is based on the experience from the adjacent Frank Slide and other similar rock avalanches. The results will be used to improve the contingency plans within the hazard area.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a possibildade de se gerar um menor conjunto de preditores no correlacionados e potencialmente aplicveis ao mapeamento digital de solos, pelo uso da estatstica multivariada. Os atributos de terreno, elevao, declividade, distncia drenagem, curvatura planar, curvatura de perfil, radiao relativa disponvel, logaritmo natural da rea de contribuio, ndice de umidade topogrfica e capacidade de transporte de sedimento, foram transformados pelo mtodo Varimax nas variveis: altimetria, hidrologia e curvatura. Essa transformao representou uma concentrao de 65,57% da variabilidade dos dados originais nas trs novas componentes. As novas variveis possibilitam o emprego de menor quantidade de dados nos modelos preditivos, alm do fato de serem no correlacionados. A rotao Varimax permite que a relao com o ambiente de formao do solo seja explicitamente inserida nos modelos preditivos.

Due to constant progress in oncology, survival rates of patients (children and adults) with cancer are increasing. Consequently, the reproductive future of young cancer patients needs to be addressed carefully. Fertility preservation techniques are available and issues such as the time available for fertility treatments, patients' age, presence of a partner and patients' personal wishes have to be considered. In Switzerland, a first therapeutic network (Rseau Romand de Cancer et Fertilit), was created in the French speaking part of Switzerland in 2006. Since 2010, a global Swiss network (FertiSave) has been created. The goal of these networks is to maximise the safety and efficacy of fertility preservation options offered to cancer patients without compromising their oncological prognosis. Patients' needs have to be identified, the therapeutic options evaluated rapidly and the optimal treatment promptly implemented in these urgent situations. This article reviews the fertility preservation options currently available and makes recommendations for different specific cancer situations, consistent with the latest scientific evidence and in general agreement with international recommendations.

In our capacity as creative artists, researchers and fine arts professors, most part of our activity focuses on the relationships between people and creativity, technology, and resources, and, most frequently, what we aim to offer are new enjoyable and subversive ways of interacting with these three fields. As art teachers, we ask 'why and how' to teach dynamic bearing in mind that digital technology will undoubtedly impact on contemporary art practice.

Portland cement concrete (PCC) pavement undergoes repeated environmental load-related deflection resulting from temperature and moisture variations across pavement depth. This has been recognized as resulting in PCC pavement curling and warping since the mid-1920s. Slab curvature can be further magnified under repeated traffic loads and may ultimately lead to fatigue failures, including top-down and bottom-up transverse, longitudinal, and corner cracking. It is therefore significant to measure the true degree of curling and warping in PCC pavements, not only for quality control (QC) and quality assurance (QA) purposes, but also for better understanding of its relationship to long-term pavement performance. Although several approaches and devicesincluding linear variable differential transducers (LVDTs), digital indicators, and some profilershave been proposed for measuring curling and warping, their application in the field is subject to cost, inconvenience, and complexity of operation. This research therefore explores developing an economical and simple device for measuring curling and warping in concrete pavements with accuracy comparable to or better than existing methodologies. Technical requirements were identified to establish assessment criteria for development, and field tests were conducted to modify the device to further enhancement. The finalized device is about 12 inches in height and 18 pounds in weight, and its manufacturing cost is just $320. Detailed development procedures and evaluation results for the new curling and warping measuring device are presented and discussed, with a focus on achieving reliable curling and warping measurements in a cost effective manner.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi definir a resoluo espacial mais apropriada para representar a variabilidade da elevao, declividade, curvatura em perfil e ndice de umidade topogrfica de um terreno, por meio de avaliaes com a transformada wavelet. Os dados utilizados no estudo tm sua origem em trs transectos de 27 km, posicionados em reas do Planalto, Rebordo do Planalto e Depresso Central na regio central do Estado do Rio Grande do Sul. As variveis - elevao, declividade, curvatura em perfil e ndice de umidade topogrfica - foram derivadas de um modelo digital de elevao Topodata com resoluo de 30 m. A avaliao da resoluo com a mxima variabilidade foi realizada pela aplicao da wavelet-me, denominada Morlet. Os resultados foram analisados a partir do isograma e do escalograma dos coeficientes wavelet e indicaram que sensores remotos com resoluo espacial prxima a 32 e 40 m podem ser utilizados em pesquisas que considerem os atributos de terreno, como declividade, curvatura em perfil e ndice de umidade topogrfica, ou, ainda, fenmenos ambientais correlacionados a eles. No entanto, no foi possvel estabelecer um valor conclusivo para a resoluo espacial mais adequada para a varivel elevao.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar a exatido do clculo da obstruo do horizonte, a partir de um modelo digital de elevao (MDE), em diferentes situaes topogrficas. O material utilizado incluiu um MDE disponvel para a regio da Serra Gacha, RS, receptores GPS, cmera digital, lente grande‑angular e os programas Idrisi, Arcview/ArcGIS e Solar Analyst. Foram adquiridas fotografias hemisfricas, e coletadas as coordenadas de 16 locais na rea de estudo. As coordenadas e o MDE foram utilizados para calcular a obstruo do horizonte com uso do algoritmo Solar Analyst. Foram comparadas a frao aberta do cu calculada e a obtida pelas fotografias hemisfricas. O coeficiente de determinao foi de 0,8428, tendo-se observado superestimativa mdia de 5,53% da frao aberta do cu. Os erros so atribudos principalmente obstruo pela vegetao, que no pode ser identificada pelo MDE. A obstruo do horizonte, causada pelo relevo na Serra Gacha, pode ser calculada satisfatoriamente pelo Solar Analyst, a partir de um MDE interpolado de cartas topogrficas na escala 1:50.000.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar modelos digitais de elevao (MDE), obtidos por diferentes fontes de dados, e selecionar um deles para derivar variveis morfomtricas utilizadas em mapeamento digital de solos. O trabalho foi realizado na Bacia Guapi‑Macacu, RJ. Os dados primrios utilizados nos modelos gerados por interpolao (MDE‑carta e MDE‑hbrido) foram: curvas de nvel, drenagem, pontos cotados e dados de sensor remoto transformados em pontos. Utilizaram-se, na comparao, modelos obtidos por sensor remoto e por aerorrestituio (MDE SRTM e MDE IBGE). Todos os modelos apresentaram resoluo espacial de 30 m. A avaliao dos modelos de elevao foi baseada na anlise de: atributos derivados (declividade, aspecto e curvatura); depresses esprias; comparao entre feies derivadas a partir dos modelos e as originais, oriundas de cartas planialtimtricas; e anlise das bacias de contribuio derivadas. O modelo digital de elevao hbrido apresenta qualidade superior dos demais modelos.

O objetivo deste trabalho foi avaliar o uso da anlise digital de imagens na diagnose nutricional de N no feijoeiro. Foram avaliados quatro tratamentos, em que se combinaram duas doses de N e de P aplicadas ao solo. Na emisso de vagens, determinou-se o ndice de clorofila Falker, digitalizaram-se as imagens dos triflios e determinou-se o teor foliar de N. Nas imagens, foi atribuda uma nota com o programa AFSoft, baseada na rea ocupada por padres de verde. O teor foliar de N correlacionou-se ao ndice de clorofila Falker e nota atribuda com o AFSoft, mas a correlao entre o ndice de clorofila e a nota AFSoft foi superior.

The main goal of this paper is to analyse gender differences in the use of ICT among university students. We present the results of a study about the uses and the perception in relation to ICT in everyday life and in academia. The study is based on a statistical simple of 1042 students from 5 different universities. The results show gender differences, both with respect to use as their perception of technology.

This paper is based on the hypothesis that the use of technology to support learning is not related to whether a student belongs to the Net Generation, but that it is mainly influenced by the teaching model. The study compares behaviour and preferences towards ICT use in two groups of university students: face-to-face students and online students. A questionnaire was applied to asample of students from five universities with different characteristics (one offers online education and four offer face-to-face education with LMS teaching support).

Institutional digital repositories are a basic piece to provide preservation and reutilization of learning resources. However, their creation and maintenance is usually performed following a top-down approach, causing limitations in the search and reutilization of learning resources. In order to avoid this problem we propose to use web 2.0 functionalities. In this paper we present how tagging can be used to enhance the search and reusability functionalities of institutional learning repositories as well as promoting their usage. The paper also describes the evaluation process that was performed in a pilot experience involving open educational resources.
