This work aims to evaluate the different trajectories in terms of production structure, technological capabilities and performance in international trade of pharmaceutical industries in Brazil and India. For this, we build international trade indicators, based on data provided by the COMTRADE, the UN database for trade. Through the indicators, it is observed that the countries have different results in the catch-up process of the pharmaceutical industry. India has built a productive structure strongly based on generic drugs, with which it is able to greatly meet domestic demand and export to many countries worldwide. Brazil remains in a position of dependence of foreign production, with a high level of imports and exports to the region of Latin America

The objective of this work is to stimulate a debate about the idea of a possible foreign language policy. It seeks to do so from an overview of the structural changes of recent decades - those affecting the economy, information and communication technologies, geopolitics and identities - in order to draw attention to the renewed importance and the role that the language management issues are assuming in this new context. Considering the foreign language policy a theoretical and practical essential tool for the management of language in a globalized world, the focus of the discussion rests on four main aspects: the origins of the notion of foreign language policy; the relationship with the foreign policy of the State; its effectiveness through the intervention on corpus, status and acquisition of the language; and the possibility of their formulation by agents other than the State

Produção Científica em Turismo: análise de estudos referenciais no exterior e no Brasil

Pesquisa documental, de caráter exploratório, que descreve e analisa os enfoques e resultados de um conjunto de estudos sobre a produção científica em Turismo no exterior e no Brasil, com base em levantamento bibliográfico e análise de conteúdo. Com o objetivo de discutir a relevância e o estágio evolutivo do conhecimento turístico, apresenta uma amostra de estudos referenciais sobre o tema no exterior e mapeia 24 estudos produzidos nessa temática no Brasil de 1993 a 2008, destacando diferentes objetivos, objetos de estudo, metodologias e resultados. A maioria das pesquisas no exterior apresenta-se como quantitativa, centra-se em periódicos científicos e destaca-se pelo referencial teórico e a metodologia adotada. No Brasil, embora a maioria das pesquisas privilegie as dissertações e teses acadêmicas enquanto objeto de estudo há maior diversidade deste; nota-se, porém, certo distanciamento em relação ao referencial teórico e metodológico dos estudos do exterior.

Estanislao Zeballos y la política exterior argentina con Brasil y Chile

Estanislao Zeballos creó un denso corpus teórico sobre las relaciones de la Argentina con sus vecinos, especialmente con Brasil y Chile. A lo largo del siglo XX, la élite intelectual rioplatense ha mantenido en vigencia el pensamiento de Zeballos, al cual se lo ha considerado una suerte de paradigma del patriota. El presente artículo examina críticamente el pensamiento de Zeballos. Detecta que, fuertemente marcadas por el positivismo y el darwinismo social, sus ideas se deslizaron hacia posiciones xenófobas y racistas, sobre todo hacia los dos países citados. Por tal motivo, el canciller generó conflictos de límites que antes no existían, y promovió conceptos históricamente inexactos sobre la naturaleza de las relaciones internacionales en el Cono Sur.
