Lista de recomendações do Exame PET/CT com 18F-FDG em Oncologia: consenso entre a Sociedade Brasileira de Cancerologia e a Sociedade Brasileira de Biologia, Medicina Nuclear e Imagem Molecular

Apresentamos uma lista de recomendações sobre a utilização de 18F-FDG PET em oncologia, no diagnóstico, estadiamento e detecção de recorrência ou progressão do câncer. Foi realizada pesquisa para identificar estudos controlados e revisões sistemáticas de literatura composta por estudos retrospectivos e prospectivos. As consequências e o impacto da 18F-FDG PET no manejo de pacientes oncológicos também foram avaliados. A 18F-FDG PET deve ser utilizada como ferramenta adicional aos métodos de imagem convencionais como tomografia computadorizada e ressonância magnética. Resultados positivos que sugiram alteração no manejo clínico devem ser confirmados por exame histopatológico. A 18F-FDG PET deve ser utilizada no manejo clínico apropriado para o diagnóstico de cânceres do sistema respiratório, cabeça e pescoço, sistema digestivo, mama, melanoma, órgão genitais, tireoide, sistema nervoso central, linfoma e tumor primário oculto.

O impacto do PADCT na química brasileira: uma visão acadêmica

An appraisal has been conducted of the impact PADCT (Support Program for Scientific and Technological Development) has caused on brazilian Chemistry and Chemical Engineering over a ten years period (1985-1995). During this time PADCT invested US$ 87.5 million dollars to support both scientific and technolgical development of chemistry. The main results, from an academic point of view, has been the strengthening of support services for academic research, including libraries and analytical facilities, and a consequent increase of the number and quality of human resources trained at the graduate level as well as a significant increase in the number of scientific publications.

In less than four years, it has moved from a system of centralized decisions and a national lever of planning, to another which is spread, without massive actions and with less integration with the raw material supplying company. On this issue it is presented, briefly, a small history of the development of this industrial type, including issues on how the growth of this activity, so important to the development of Brazil, shall be lead.

Evaluations, suggestions and prospectives are made on attempt to overcome challenges and difficulties of this emergent and important area of the chemical research.

Otimização de um mecanismo fotoquímico para a simulação da atmosfera urbana brasileira

A photochemical reaction mechanism for the description of air quality in Brazilian urban regions is described and evaluated by comparison with chamber experiments. The mechanism was developed for use in ozone modeling and application of control strategies. The oxidation of ethanol and methyl-ter-butyl-ether is also considered. Using this chemical model, a trajectory simulation of Brazil Avenue, Rio de Janeiro, was performed. The model predicts that ozone should reach a maximum of 22.4 ppb at 14:57 h. This value is in good agreement with the experimental measurements of 22.5 ppb for 14:00 h and 22.3 ppb for 15:00 h.
