Ciencia 2.0 : aplicación de la web social a la investigación

REBIUN study on Science 2.0 and social web applications for research. There are three categories: share research, share resources and share results. Describes the applications and selected resources of interest: scientific social networks, scientific databases, research platforms, surveys, concept maps, file sharing, bibliographic management, social bookmarking, citation indexes, blogs and wikis, science news, open access. The services are evaluated and the report describes his interest to libraries.

Experiencias de interoperabilidad entre CRIS y repositorios en Catalunya

Toni Prieto, Técnico IC del Servicio de Bibliotecas y Documentación (SBD) de la UPC, en su presentación 'Experiencias de interoperabilidad entre CRIS y repositorios en Catalunya', describió la integración del repositorio UPCommons y del CRIS DRAC (Descriptor de la Recerca i l'Activitat Acadèmica) de la UPC. El resultado de esta integración es un esquema integrado de archivo CRIS/IR en dos fases, envío y revisión, en el que los metadatos se introducen en DRAC -para posteriormente ser transferidos, validados y enriquecidos si procede- y el archivo de texto completo asociado se realiza en UPCommons. De manera similar funciona la integración de GIR (Gestió Integral de la Recerca, basado en Universitas XXI Investigación) y el repositorio O2 en la UOC, permitiendo la asignación del identificador handle de un ítem en O2 a una referencia en GIR. Ambos sistemas, DRAC en la UPC y GIR en la UOC, están integrados en el Proyecto CVN de generación de CVs normalizados. Se mencionaron asimismo experiencias posteriores de integración CRIS/IR actualmente en curso en la Universitat de Barcelona y en la U Pompeu Fabra, y se mostró el impacto significativo de la estrategia de integración de sistemas sobre el ritmo de incorporación de contenidos a UPCommons.

Engaging students in an e-learning experience : how to manage information resources through wikis and web blogs

The purpose of this paper is to describe the collaboration between librarians and scholars, from a virtual university, in order to facilitate collaborative learning on how to manage information resources. The personal information behaviour of e-learning students when managing information resources for academic, professional and daily life purposes was studied from 24 semi-structured face-to-face interviews. The results of the content analysis of the interview' transcriptions, highlighted that in the workplace and daily life contexts, competent information behaviour is always linked to a proactive attitude, that is to say, that participants seek for information without some extrinsic reward or avoiding punishment. In the academic context, it was observed a low level of information literacy and it seems to be related with a prevalent uninvolved attitude.

Hybrid model of a double-fed induction machine and back-to-back converter

This report details the port interconnection of two subsystems: a power electronics subsystem (a back-to-back AC/AC converter (B2B), coupled to a phase of the power grid), and an electromechanical subsystem (a doubly-fed induction machine (DFIM), coupled mechanically to a flywheel and electrically to the power grid and to a local varying load). Both subsystems have been essentially described in previous reports (deliverables D 0.5 and D 4.3.1), although some previously unpublished details are presented here. The B2B is a variable structure system (VSS), due to the presence of control-actuated switches: however from a modelling and simulation, as well as a control-design, point of view, it is sensible to consider modulated transformers (MTF in the bond-graph language) instead of the pairs of complementary switches. The port-Hamiltonian models of both subsystems are presents and coupled through a power-preserving interconnection, and the Hamiltonian description of the whole system is obtained; detailed bond-graphs of all the subsystems and the complete system are provided.

Energy-based modelling and simulation of the interconnection of a back-to-back converter and a doubly-fed induction machine

The B2B is a variable structure system (VSS), due to presence of control-actuated switches: however, from a modelling simulation, as well as a control-design, point of view, it is sensible to consider modulated transformers (MTF in the bond graph language) instead of the pairs of complementary switches. The port-Hamiltonian models of both subsystems are presented and, using a power-preserving interconnection, the Hamiltonian description of the whole system is obtained; detailed bond graphs of all subsystems and the complete system are also provided. Using passivity-based controllers computed in the Hamiltonian formalism for both subsystems, the whole model is simulated; simulations are run to rest the correctness and efficiency of the Hamiltonian network modelling approach used in this work.
