In the context of university libraries, the optimization and streamlining of services and processes related to informational content indexing and retrieval are strongly influenced by the indexing policy adopted. This article is aimed at researching the indexing policy elements that are more suitable for medical university libraries. To achieve our objective, we applied three instruments: organizational culture analysis, individual verbal protocol and evaluation of indexing. Results emphasize the importance of developing an indexing policy to improve the processes and services offered by university libraries, as well as the retrieval of information by the user community. More studies are necessary in the medical area involvoving catalogers, experts, users and managers for the development of the indexing manual.

Aspectos teóricos da análise da estrutura narrativa e a sua contribuição para a organização da informação

The theoretical aspects of the narrative structure of documents are discussed, using the Generative Trajectory of Meaning theory. In particular, the difficulties in identifying the subject of the documents (aboutness) are addressed from the linguistic and discursive semantics of Propp, Greimas Saussure, to show how these theories can improve the information representation processes.

Morbidades e consumo de álcool em pacientes internados na Clínica Médica de um hospital universitário

Abusive consumption of alcohol leads to several negative consequences to health and quality of life, as it increases the frequency of diseases that cause death or functional disabilities. The rates of patients admitted to hospital due to physical problems stemming from alcohol abuse are high. This study aimed at identifying patients according to variables age, gender and education level as well as at evaluating the prevalence of CAGE-positive patients and morbidity due to CID-10 (International Classification of Diseases) by the World Health Organization. It is a cross-sectional, observational, exploratory, descriptive and quantitative study. It was conducted at the Botucatu School of Medicine University Hospital (HC) from July to September 2010, at the Internal Medicine ward. This ward aggregates 5 specialties, namely, Cardiology, Hematology, General Medicine, Nephrology and Gastroclinic. Presently, it has 36 beds, of which four are for Intensive Care Therapy (ICT). Three hundred and ten medical charts were analyzed for identification of morbidities and of variables age, gender and schooling. A closed semistructured questionnaire including, among other questions, the CAGE test was applied to each individual. The CAGE test is a questionnaire that comprises four questions and considers that one who answers two or more of such questions affirmatively is a suspected case of alcoholism. The total population studied included 310 patients. Indexes of 60% (186) male and of 40% (124) female patients were found. As regards age range, a population with a higher prevalence of individuals from 51 to 70 years old (41%) was observed. The main education indexes were: incomplete Elementary School: 23.22% (72), complete Elementary School: 21.61% (67), incomplete Secondary School: 18.40% (57) and Illiteracy: 17.74% (55). Um encontro, um percurso, uma estória: uma narrativa que se constrói e convida à reflexão sobre EJA e educação ambiental

Pelos caminhos que se abrem na graduação, aquele que mais despertou-me interesse profissional foi o caminho da educação. Minha atuação no Projeto de Educação de Jovens e Adultos (PEJA) iniciou-se no terceiro ano da graduação; coube ser em sua esfera a realização deste trabalho. Ele narra os acontecimentos que sucederam-se a partir da proposição de uma saída de campo para os educandos do PEJA, onde pretendia-se promover o diálogo e a comunhão do conhecimento entre os participantes, pela observação do meio ambiente e a reflexão sobre o comportamento humano no trato com a natureza. Os diversos momentos que compuseram esta vivência foram registrados pelos participantes e vale-se enquanto memória coletiva do percurso. Posteriormente, construiu-se uma estória infantil, cujo enredo buscou inspiração nas trajetórias, impressões e reflexões, individuais e coletivas, dos participantes ao longo do percurso. Para a redação do trabalho, os capítulos foram organizados de maneira a se compor uma narrativa linear que trouxesse ao leitor toda a sua construção enquanto objeto de estudo, desde sua formação até seus desdobramentos. Pretende-se, com este material, levantar elementos que sejam de serventia para reflexões futuras nas temáticas que o compõe. Como local da saída de campo, optamos pelas margens do córrego dos Bandeirantes, que delimitam geograficamente a Universidade Estadual Paulista campus de Rio Claro da Floresta Estadual Edmundo Navarro de Andrade.

A pluralidade narrativa do cinema e a crítica negligente: estudo de caso : anticristo e melancolia, de Lars Von Trier

The cinematographic language is notedly plural and heterogeneous. There are many filmic elements that “narrate” all the time, in different ways. Besides enumerating some of them, this study seeks to analyse if the criticism is attentive to all of these tools or if it sticks only to some of them. It’s also reflects if this activity uses more objectives or subjectives aspects as basis for its conclusions. Here, a very specific field was chosen: the study is done by a comparative analysis of the reception of Brazilian’s and European’s criticism from two Lars Von Trier’s films, Antichrist and Melancholia. After explaining how the narrative elements are used in the cinema, it’s demonstrated that, in general, the criticism is negligent and does not analyze all of those tools. In some cases, the analysis of some elements is done in a superficial way, so others aspects can be highlighted

Sob o olhar do fotógrafo: quadrinhos e fotografia na narrativa jornalística

O jornalismo se estabeleceu no meio impresso (jornais e revistas) com textos tradicionais e, muitas vezes reféns do lide. A junção de fotografia e quadrinhos ainda é embrionária, mas surge como um recurso para a inovação do jornalismo, já tão dependente de antigos formatos. Nesta monografia, a obra O Fotógrafo é analisada para observar como essas mídias, quadrinhos e fotografia, podem servir de plataforma para uma narrativa jornalística. Em 1986 o fotojornalista Didier Lefèvre viajou ao Afeganistão para acompanhar a caravana de uma equipe da organização Médicos Sem Fronteiras. O intuito era fotografar o trabalho da ONG e revelar a situação do povo afegão em meio à invasão soviética, que durou 10 anos. Na época, seis fotos, de quatro mil, foram publicadas. Treze anos depois, o quadrinista Emmanuel Guibert sugeriu que a história, já esquecida dentro de caixas, virasse livro. Assim nasceu O Fotógrafo, uma obra em quadrinhos, mas que incorpora as fotografias de Lefèvre e seu relato jornalístico das consequências do conflito no país. Sinantropia e sazonalidade de moscas varejeiras (Diptera: Calliphoridae) no Sudeste do Brasil: visões ecológica, médica, veterinária e forense

O presente estudo teve por objetivo verificar a ocorrência das principais espécies de moscas da família Calliphoridae em diferentes ambientes (urbano, rural e silvestre) do município de Botucatu, SP. Para tanto, foram usadas armadilhas apropriadas e iscas, substituídas diariamente, distribuídas em cada local de coleta mensalmente durante aproximadamente o período de um ano. Foram coletados um total de 3188 espécimes. Análises estatísticas e testes de correlação também foram usados para medir a relação das espécies com os fatores ambientais, locais, preferência e atratividade por iscas e as relações e interações ecológicas entre as diferentes espécies
